Just heard from Jacqueline, she is still in hospital and hoping to be out next week.

She has been reading the thread on her cellphone but finds it difficult to type on it but she will be back on the Boards.

Burnice

PS. Jacqueline, lots of pixie dust pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust: and hugs :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: coming your way from Perth, have replied to your PM.

So glad you heard back from Jacqueline and that she is reading along still.....thinking of you jacqueline & hoping you will soon be allowed home from hospital. :wizard: Take care. xx

FOR THE CANDY SWAP; PLEASE SIGN UP WITH CHRISTINA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've gotten some PM's signing up with me, but as I'm no longer cruising, I'm not the way to go.

As Burnice said, I was/am still reading along as it's a lovely group and nice way to spent some time but am totally kinda lost on the details. ;) Processing any info is still challenging, so be prepared for me to make some weird comments. That and try and have a good time pulling my leg, no time like the present for it to be succesfull! :rotfl: Are there any good upgrades assigned? Less then a month to go and you guys will be sailing already, wow!

Isn't it about time for some like Lynne to almost begin their pre-cuise-travels already????

Anybody start packing yet that isn't leaving within 14 days? :rotfl2:

Yep, surprise I'm home. Sorta. It took so long because as usual I ran into the "you don't fit the standard protocol and thus it's all in your head"-arrogance. Not fitting protocols is standard with my condition but that seems to hold little value. On thursday evening I decided to call it quits and run my own show bascially (read; was given the "amnesty" while awaiting the psychiatrist being called in :rolleyes1 ). Lo and behold, following the path I took previously when getting started with my feedingpump worked once again, just doesn't fit protocol. Within 4 days I was back to both drinking enough AND getting (more) enough calories. Took me until today to get back to my original pumpschedule, but that's less important. Thankfully had an amazing religious worker (and aren't even religious  ) who kept me sane and opened my eyes.

My case was dealt with so poorly on all fronts that he also discussed it very carefully with some higher staff and I was given the message to please put my experience in writing, amongst others by the head of the complaints board. Apparently both the "it's in your head"-abuse and lack of proper care in some areas is happening more and more and they're seeing the hospital being damaged but can't really do anything about it because nobody dares to speak up officially. One day I will, but for now all is put into recovering. To be honest; it's been a bit of a challenging time and am still finding out about more and more mistakes being made. Amongst others I dealt with a temporary halfsided paralyses due to untreated low bloodsugars, (still) got very bad vitamine deficiencies that GP and/or hospital didn't pick up on etc. etc. We're trying to get things clear and treated but it's hard work to do so when nobody seems to be able to not make huge mistakes.

Knock on wood the help and aids I'm trying to arrange isn't too overly expensive. If that's the case, I'm planning on hitting WDW in december 2011. Plans were 1st-22nd but looks like it'll be 5th-22nd. If so and anybody else will be there; would love to see if we can arrange a mini-meet.

Burnice; you are a doll! Read the PM and will reply tomorrow I think. Keep thinking I'm all that, but just reading let alone go :cool1: "I can dive into our thread again now I'm back home" is a bit more work than expected.

Jacqueline-- So GOOD to see your post! We have missed you here! I am still bummed (mad!) it all worked out the negative way it did for you, but thankful you are on the road to recovery.

We will miss you at WDW. We are going in November for the Mickey's Christmas party - will be our first visit to WDW in 21 years for me, and first ever for Curt and the girls. Florida weather should be just perfect for you in December. :goodvibes

Keep on the uphill for recovery!!

Jacqueline hi. Sorry things have been so horrid for you. I hope once you have recovered you will feel like tackling the disgraceful treatment you have had at the hospital, but for now, as you yourself said, channel that effort into getting better.

Really pleased you are going to get a great Christmastime trip in. I love it at that time of year and would love to go back then. Perhaps in 2012.

Lots of love to you.

Got my documents yesterday!! And also my shirt for Mickey Mouse Club night!!

I finally was able to buy my ticket for La Sagrada Familia today also, so I can go to the good line, instead of waiting.

For my flight, I have a 8.5 hour layover in London...i've never flown internationally before, does anyone know if they will check my bag through to BCN? It was booked as one flight, and both legs are on British Airways.

Also, anyone that's done a TA before...how is the cell service on the crossing? Will I be able to get a text? My sister is going to find out if she is pregnant sometime AFTER we leave Madeira (of course) and I really, really can't wait to find out!! If texting won't work, what would you suggest as the best way for a quick yes or no...maybe email? :goodvibes

I can't believe in one month, we will be sailing!!! :yay:

I am certain your bags will be transferred for you if you are connecting between flights in Heathrow. I don't think it would be the same if you fly into Heathrow and out of London City.

Sorry can't help on cell phone issue.

Getting closer!

Mary, just confirming what others have said, BA should check your luggage straight through no problems. We fly with BA internationally quite often to the USA with connecting flights. As Claire said, just check with the check-in desk that they are being checked straight through and that your luggage tags say BCN, then you will know you don't need to pick them up in London.

It may depend on who your cell phone provider is, but we had service most of the way from Barcelona across the pond. My DD telephoned me in the middle of the Atlantic for a chat and also I was receiving texts. My phone picked up the "WMS" world mobile satellite service, it did cost a fortune though.

Thanks Mary!! I read the cellular at sea on my providers site, and it is 50 cents a text sent, 5 cents for one recieved. I don't plan on talking on the phone, just getting a text from my sister...i'm her donor, so this is extra special for me!! :goodvibes

I can't believe in 4 weeks, I will be in London for the day!! :yay:

:cool1::cool1::cool1: it's coming round so quick !!

Mary :worship::worship::worship: what a fantastic thing you are doing for your sister, I know a lot of friends who have had IVF treatment and being a donor is not an easy task and takes a lot out of you - no wonder you are desperate for that "positive" text - wishing you all lots of pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: Now that's something to celebrate if you get some word back, you'll need to let us know

Being nosey here....who is your provider? We have T-Mobile, but I can't find any information about texts through cellular at sea on their site...only that it costs $4.95/minute for calls. :scared1:

It's sooo good to see you posting again Jaqueline. Wishing you the speediest recovery possible. Regain all your strength then get planning for that December trip, you so deserve it.:grouphug::love:

Still no docs for us either. :sad1:

I missed a very interesting topic of child rearing last night! I have to agree with Hazel 110% Parenting is HARD WORK and it saddens me to see so many parents that just have kids because they think it's what you're suppose to do. Not only do children need boundaries but they need attention too. It drives me bonkers to see parents sitting somewhere with their children texting or on the cell phone. And I don't mean 1 quick phone call or text I mean 20 constant minutes of not even looking at the kid. :sad2: And Hazel... Lorelei may be 2 but she knows that mom is not a short order cook and you get what you get or you don't eat.

DH was saying something about changing our cell phone plan to international for 1 month with AT&T and it would make the rate a lot better because cellular at sea is actually provided by AT&T and if you have international you would have to pay such a high rate. Now keep in mind this is how he tried to simplify his explanation for me because I'm clueless when it comes to that stuff. But if you have AT&T you should check it out.

As a couple who have struggled with infertility ourselves, I just want to say what an amazing gift you have given to your sister, I hope things go well for her and you will soon be a proud Aunt :goodvibes:goodvibes

I also have T-Mobile. Here is what they told me: (it might be different with different plans) it is $4.99/minute for all calls; it is $15 for each megabyte of internet use; if you have unlimited texting, it is free for all incoming texts (not sure what it is if you don't have unlimited because I have unlimited) and it is $0.35 for each out going text.

I was quite flabbergasted! It seems like in this day and age they should be able to make communication cheaper. However, I'm also thankful for the opportunity to shut out the world. DH and I are traveling w/o kids so I'm sort of nervous to be without communication. I know I'll be ok but just a little apprehensive.

Hi Jacqueline  I'm glad to hear you are taking your treatment into your own hands and recovering well.

nick262 - Nickole Tell your DH that he is not the only one with a purple toe. I dropped 9 pounds of lead on my right middle toe on Saturday before my dives...This was a solid block weight too, not the "softer" bead kind. I just need one of those Bill Engvall stupid signs.

Hi Lynne,

Thanks for the sign, LOL!:lmao::lmao: Great update!!

Thank you so much Heather! :worship: I guess you called them to get this info? It's not clear on the t-mobile website.

We are also traveling without our kids (both college-age), but it does make me nervous to not be able to be in contact with them for any period of time.

Don't really understand how the texts can be about the same cost, but calls are soooo much more expensive. Go figure. I'm with you on this - it just doesn't make much sense. :sad2:

  I know exactly what you mean hun and it drives me crazy when you see people that don't deserve to have kids as they are incapable at looking after them.
(I best stop there before I go off on another rant. :rolleyes1 )

Hi Jacqueline, glad you be home at last. I hope you recover soon now. It's a pitty that we can't meet now. I was looking forward to it. But who knows in the future.

And my documents arrived:dance3::dance3::dance3: Still GTY:confused3

That is so exciting! I hope it is possitive.....
Our grandson was born while we were on the EBTA in May.... It was so exciting... we had them email us a pic of our new baby then had it printed in shutters. We took it to be signed by Mickey. Also we had a white matt signed and dated by the Captain and all the other characters in an array of colors... I have to say.. It turned out so cute! Disney can make any occasion so magical....

Good luck on the baby.... prayers and pixie dust for your sister.....

So do you not have to sign up for international roaming for texts? I thought all cellphones had to have international roaming to work in Europe?
