My friend and I are going to the Glee Live concert in Manchester tonight!

It's been booked for ages, and after tons of organising to make sure the kids are sorted, I'm off for (gasp) overnight and the concert. I can't believe the amount of work it's taken for me to take ONE night off - the stress it's caused has almost convinced me I shouldn't try it again.

We've got lots of things booked here and there through the summer, but I'm seeing them all as more of a distraction to keep me from watching the calendar for September! Talk about wishing your life away...

Oh, and I got my big red ballgown in the post yesterday, and it's too small!! It's my size, but cut a lot smaller. Oh well, I'm on a diet anyway, so I'll try it on again in August and hopefully I'll be able to squeeze in (I'll put my superknickers on, and get someone to do the zip up... I couldn't do it myself). So that's my motivator. Guess I better wear the dress on the first formal night... it might not fit by the second one! (I'll have to bring a stretchy one for that!)

Hope you enjoy the Glee concert, would love to have gone but didn't get tickets.

I have a dress that needs some magic pixie dust sprinkled on it!!
Although I'm thinking if I put my swimsuit on with tummy panel in, then the dress will fit perfectly!!

The same thing happened with my dress that I've just got from eBay:( Lucky for me though the people I bought it from accept returns, so it's going back.

Have a great time at the Glee concert:dance3:

Well I am a bit fed up with the weather recently. If it wants to rain then go on and have a pour down. Stop pretending it is April with showers every time I get my washing on the line!

I totally agree, it's awful!

Robbie Williams is another singer I want to see in concert, but he never seems to tour on this side of the pond :sad2: Hope you have a great time tonight, Mary!

Unfortunately, formal-wear is typically cut 1 to 2 sizes smaller than normal. I picked up a couple of 14's (US size) on eBay that are more like 10's. :headache: I swear one that's supposed to be a 12 is a 6! :scared1: I haven't been that small since high school - when I was swimming 3 miles a day. So they'll all be going up on eBay or to the local consignment store sometime in the near future.

Here's a crazy thought -- My in-laws are joining us on this cruise and they are flying from BWI to Barcelona round-trip with the return flight in May 2012. They are also cruising with us from New Orleans to Barcelona on April 14, 2012 on the Voyager of the Seas. We booked inside cabins for this 16-day EBTA for under $600 each. I think their R/T airfare was about $900 ($450 each way.) So if you want to cross the ocean twice, you can look for a cheap round trip airfare.

Good luck!

Jerry

We have a relative doing the same thing... the roundtrip fare and "less expensive" transatlantic westbound fare made it more sensible to just cross the Atlantic both ways with a roundtrip plan ticket. :thumbsup2 He returns to Barcelona in October for his return portion.

Have fun!! :)

Don't you just HATE that?!? Nothing is ever sized correctly and it varies from brand and style. Baby clothes too! Some 6 month things still fit, but a 12 month swimsuit wasn't even close to being large enough... Go figure!

Just a silly question.........do most of you gals wear really fancy formal wear? I have some very nice, but not ball gown type clothes. Just wondering.:confused3

I agree, he really doesn't appear to have aged in the last 10 or so years! :lovestruc

I think there's a little dermatological pixie dust going on there!!!

Hi Everyone,

Phew! All the grants are in...and the craziness is over. Now I just have to do the adminstrative stuff and then it will be on to the next projects....but at least the craziness of 14 grant deadlines in 2 months is over!

Keri

Good for you Keri!! My sister used to do a lot of grant writing for her job and now she's more on the implementation side for programs, it is stressful work but seems very rewarding. :goodvibes

How was the concert? I would love to go to one of those Glee concerts, I am definitely a Gleek!

About the dress, that is a bummer. Have you ever tried Spanx? They really do take off an inch or two and do a lot of smoothing....maybe that could do the trick?

Just a silly question.........do most of you gals wear really fancy formal wear? I have some very nice, but not ball gown type clothes. Just wondering.:confused3

Define really fancy. - do you mean like tuxes and ballgowns?

I usually wear a cocktail dress (short but fancy dress) and my husband wears a dark suit with a tie.

Phew..... that clears it up for me. I have some cocktail type of things. On past crusies I have been on it was that way, dressy but not formals. Seeing some of the post about formals, I was a bit unsure. Don't think anyone would want to see me in a "ballgown" \o/
