Candy Swap

Dennis and I are a bit stuck on this one. We're trying to think of some candy representative of either Georgia, the South, or the U.S., but not having much luck. We'd bring peanut brittle, but we can only find it in large packages - nothing small and individually wrapped. You thought Jacqueline's image was bad, we'd be walking around going, "Here, break off a chunk." Eew. The only thing I can think of that's relatively small and pre-packaged is a pecan log (pronounced PEE-can, we're in the South, honey) and well, those are just nasty. If anyone would like to make a suggestion, we'd love to hear it.

Maybe a peach candy? Or Divinity?

Liz, Thanks for that link!!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: OMG, those photos are soooo funny!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao: I was actually physically laughing out loud at some of them.
Thanks again! :thumbsup2

Hilarious!!

Of course, someone has to come along and spoil the fun. "Oh, bad parents, allowing the child to be terrified!" What's the point of having kids if you can't terrify them and laugh about it once in a while?
I love the picture of Tink "helping" the little girl to smile. :lmao:

Ditto!! I enjoyed looking through them as well. Tink was good with helping that smile! :rotfl2:

Thanks for the link, too funny. :rotfl:

OH MY HEAVENS! I got my laugh for the week! :lmao::lmao: I loved the Tinkerbell one!:rotfl2: So glad you put that thread on there!

Is that thread still alive? Perfect! I stumbled upon it last winter. Perfect entertainment on those cold snow days.

That one is hilarious! :lmao::lmao: My favorite was the one with Anastasia grinning evilly (is that even a word?) at the little boy who is leaning WAAAAYY back. :rotfl2:

Did you see the picture of Peter Pan on the bench??? I thought of you and of our weird encounter with him at the table. :rotfl: Too bad we didn't get a photo of you with him - or anyone else at the table for that matter....could have posted it on that thread. :lmao::lmao::lmao: It sure looked like the same guy, too!!! :scared1:

Glad that everyone got a giggle from that thread. I laughed out loud so much that I just had to share. :goodvibes

One of the many candy thingies that is typical Dutch is licorice. Sure, you can get it in most countries nowadays but nothing compares to the REAL licorice. Isn't that the truth, Liesbeth? ;) However, we've got like hundreds of different sorts of licorice and it would be fun to be able to give participants the option to try a couple of them instead of just one. Same goes for the typical old dutch candy, comes in so many lovely tastes. And with such little amount of kids participating, I'm strongly considering adding a special kiddotype of candy for them.

Grin, sounds just like things I could have happen. Ordered some extra strong magnetic tape on Ebay yesterday, so I'll be trying it out at home and see if the whiteboard can stay put for the next 80 or so days to come.

Yes, we have many different sortes of licorice. Had to translate it first to know what it was, but then I can agree. :woohoo:
And also about the old dutch candy.
I am not in de candy swab, but can you do it in bags with a zip?

And that magnetic tape, where did you buy it on E-bay.
And how made everybody thers magnets??? I have some ideas and can laminate it, but how do I get this magnetic?

I buy my magnetic paper on ebay or at Staples (office supply store), but it is much cheaper on ebay $1 something a page as opposed to $13.00 for 5 pages at Staples. I have gone way overboard, no pun intended, on door magnets. I can't stop myself. It's very addicting.

Wow, 20 pages to catch up on. I've been MIA with huge grant deadlines. Still working to finish the last two today and then I'm going to sleep all day.

Noel, I still need to sign up for and pay for a set of pins and 2 lanyards. I'll try to get that done today, before I go to sleep.

Hope everyone is enjoying the longest day of the year....I only wish I had 30 hours in the day!

My DD Samantha was a huge fan of Buffy and Angel so we have all of the series. Plus, of course, being a huge sci fi fan, I loved Firefly and the movie that was made which was called Serenity.

Serenity / Firefly is one of my favourite series :thumbsup2

H:cool2:ave you ever seen Babylon 5???

As my mother said, "Oh Dear God I hope not. The world is not ready for that special pleasure!"

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Keri / aka, another Karen

Perhaps but the number of Karens is expanding exponentially :cool2:

perhaps the pre WBTA cruise is a cover for installing the "conversion" equipment :scared1::scared1::scared1:

The truth is out there :rotfl2::confused3

I had a bad flashback when I saw that one! :lmao::lmao: I don't blame that young girl one bit!:rotfl2: Those photos were hilarious! I was at work and looked through the last half of that thread....priceless! The one I liked of the Tinkerbell kept showing up and at one point, I just really studied that picture and got to laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes! :lmao: My fav pic!

Well I have me a whiteboard...well a piece of magnetic paper with a pen and some decorations on it.

I got it from the pound shop. On my way home I was just thinking I could've made myself one!! A nice Disney one!
This is the one I got.

Super cute! :thumbsup2
That's a great idea. Hmmmm......

just had a look - looks like we're back to AKV or SSR! lol, either that or i'm going to have to book an actual room instead of renting points :scared:

Karen, can you get the cast member rate? My friend that works at POFQ is able to get a special rate for cast members, that is usually very good...just a thought!! :goodvibes

The dry whiteboard is cute Michelle. Mine is just plain white so I will have to put a message on asking passers by to draw something!!!

I love Bones, it is probably my fave show ever!!! I can't believe how this season finished! I hope they hurry up with the next one!!!

Me, too. I've watched since the first episode. I tried to get a few friends to watch in the beginning, but nobody was interested. Now, it's as if they've discovered a great new show...everybody's a fan. If they had just listened to me in the first place...:confused3 But I liked David B. more before I heard he cheated on his wife .

There is no rule about that, but personally I like to know who it's from. I always put mine in a little bag of some kind with a sticker or note in it. :)

Me, too.

Once me & the woman who opened the door had recovered from the shock we both had a good laugh about it. :lmao:

This was the funniest thing I've read in a long time. The mental image...I laugh out loud every time I think about it! Thank you.

:lmao: :lmao: I can see it now, here have a bite! :rotfl:

More hysterical mental imagery! Yum!

Quite often the door magnet stealing is mischief(:confused3) making by kids and teens and you might find them on a door somewhere down the corridor!

I read that people mark the back of their magnets with "Stolen from Cabin #...". I'll be bringing a silver sharpie just for that reason, although we had nothing taken on the EBTA. Actually, I started putting little magnets on a cabin a few doors down, since I saw they had two little girls, and the steward asked me if ours were being stolen! The family was concerned that they would get in trouble. I assured them all that it was just a little pixie dust, and for the girls to enjoy. :goodvibes Then I felt bad about giving them stress! :guilty:

Just heard from DD ... she is going to be working in Disney Hollywood Studios .. she seems really pleased with that. She is having a great time so far so I can relax a bit now. :thumbsup2

Great news Sarah and what a super place to work!!! Now you can relax a bit.

Mary - I will let you know as soon as we know exactly where she is working. She would be thrilled if people approach her to say hi! :thumbsup2
