Great minds and all that :thumbsup2 Thanks :hug: It is getting a bit difficult. She is travelling to Seattle when she finishes to stay with friends for a few weeks, and she will be visiting Canada and lots of places around that area. It is a wonderful opportunity but I can't help feeling sad because this is the first time my "little girl" will be experiencing so much without me being part of it. Does that make sense :confused3:confused3

It make perfect sense. I am sure once the first few weeks pass and you get to see her at "work" it will become a bit easier as you will see how much she is enjoying it.

Have a great weekend with your DD Sarah :)

I wish I could say the same about the weather here...it's very overcast and grey!

I understand completely and I still feel that with our children, particularly our daughter and she is 40 next year!!!:confused3

Well I certainly put the voodoo on the weather by mentioning the sun ... can you believe we have just had HAIL .... IN JUNE :confused3:scared1::confused3

What is going on .........

:rotfl2: We had that last night.....it was scary, lots of thunder, lightning & huge hail stones! :scared1:

Absolutely DELUGING here, but no hail or thunder so far this morning. Thank goodness.

Sarah, how long is Taryn's program at WDW? Will she still be in Florida when we return from the cruise?

Karen (no middle name), I'm sure your mom had a good reason for not giving you one--but do you have to put NMI on forms? My son Steven had a great time in school by only using his middle initial and never revealing what his middle name was. You can't believe some of the guesses that people came up with! I had named him after my dad--Carl--and I didn't think it was that bad.

Sounds like I'm not the only one who plans to get serious about dropping some weight in the next thirteen weeks. With the international mix of those who read this, I won't say "lose some pounds"--many of you would think of money! Ladies will understand that I have clothing in various sizes. I'd sure like to wear a few things that are currently a big snug. Once I'm on the Magic, I plan to enjoy every meal.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend,
Karen

it will be in one way or another (so long as everyone is ok with waiting til about 11.15 for the bus), the price will definately be cheaper than DCL.

Great we are the late ones, sorry everyone, Hopefully we will have a good tail wind and get in early:lmao:

Oh you can all send your rain here! We're in the middle of a drought - down something like 8 inches of rain. Everything is so dry and brown.

We decided to plant a small veggie garden this year, theoretically to save a bit of money, but we've had to water it twice a day, so any savings we might have had is being eaten by the water bill!

MandyGirl- I would love to do a toddler meet. It would be great for Lorelei to recognize familiar faces. Name the time and place and we’ll be there.

Great! I even thought of scheduling it twice the first sea day so that if there is a really cool activity someone wants to do, or kiddos are on their own time schedule as they usually are, we have a second one later so everyone with toddlers/babies/preschoolers has an opportunity to meet.

Deck 9 - port side- Mickey's Splash Zone

First sea day - 10:00-10:30 - then the kids recognize each other when around the ship or in a kids club / Flounders (and some could walk them down to the Kids Club afterwards for play time or introduce them to the Kids Club area)

First sea day backup time - 1:00-1:30 - so it is after lunch and before naps and warm enough to maybe enjoy the splash part

Our friends left last night for Barcelona for a Mediterranean cruise on RCL. JEALOUS! They encountered a 4-hour delay in JFK due to bad storms, but it's OK because they are Executive Platinum on AA so they were riding in first class anyway. (Even more jealous!)

He was going to give us two of his systemwide upgrades to use on our flight to Barcelona - but they are not valid on award tickets, which we are flying on!:mad:

Gotta love those rules on upgrading AAward tickets...
We at least got re-seated to where we are right behind each other now - essentially two window seats and a center. One child next to me and the other right in front of me. Totally fine with that, especially since it's just the flight to New York. I'm kinda excited now I won't have to share the window with my 4 year old since she will get her own! (And if she misbehaves, I can kick her seat!)

Hey all,
Here is a stupid question, do you think Lion King 3D will be playing on the Magic when we cruise? It is being released September 16 in 3D and curious if it will be on the ship. Thanks!

William

That will be really neat if it works out!

We celebrated our daughter's 9th birthday on May 30 and had 12 kids here for a makeover party. We hired someone to do hair styling and someone else to do nails and temporary tatoos and it was a huge hit. The national kids (Ukrainian and Tatar) here kept asking if we were going to do it again next year for her birthday. Thankfully some of the moms stayed and helped us with the games and getting the pizzas ready.

Here is a picture of the cake I made. Morgan requested a pink sunglasses cake and I obliged.

So much fun! Then we had to cram 3 weeks of homeschooling into 2 weeks but we just finished today. :cool1: :dance3: To celebrate we went out for supper to our favorite Tatar food restaurant.

Well hopefully now I'll be able to join in the FUN here more often.

Happy Birthday to her!! And what a great idea for a party (and I adore the cake!). You've gotta love the homeschooling schedule you can create. I teach Algebra to a couple homeschoolers in another state via the internet, and it is great that we are able to really adapt the schedule to THEIR needs and prioritize family time. That is so, so important.

On our plans, we've decided to go up to Virginia this weekend instead....but I will still be on the computer at midnight for the reservations!!

This Saturday is my 6th wedding anniversary :lovestruc

Happy Anniversary!! :) Hope your trip to Virginia is great!! We were there a couple years ago -- Williamsburg --- and thoroughly enjoyed our time there!

Good morning .... the sun is shining here in Wales, which makes a change. Looking forward to spending the last full weekend with my DD before she flies to Florida next Sunday .... so we're off out buying the last bits and pieces for her to take with her.

2 weeks after that we will be flying out ourselves, so I have started sorted out Florida clothes ( Florida clothes that fit :sad2: )

Hope everyone has a great weekend ..... oh and I forgot to say ....

ONLY 13 WEEKS until we will be getting onboard the Disney Magic !!

:dance3::dance3::yay::yay::dance3::dance3:

Hugs to you on her send-off! :grouphug: And WOW... 13 weeks! I am letting our older daughter put an X on the calendar each day, and when I looked at it this morning, she went ahead and X'ed off the next two weeks while I was asleep... so WE are down to 11 weeks. LOL! (I guess she is more ready than I thought... she had been REALLY good at doing it on her own - with just one X per day! Just speeding things up a little...)

We've tried planting tomatoes, but the birds get them, even with the netting! My Granny has a great garden, and it was even more awesome when my grandfather was alive. I used to always enjoy going to pick things with him whenever she was cooking and needed something. So wish I could have a garden like that.

Well saying as we've got absolute awful weather here I decided to go and do a bit shopping for the cruise.

I have bought 2 tankini's and a pair of dress shoes for formal nights...1 pair should be enough - shouldn't it shoe gurus?

Taryn will still be in USA when we are there after the cruise but she is visiting with friends in Seattle and they are taking her into Canada ...she will go there when she finishes at WDW on 2nd September and fly home before the end of September. We will actually get home before her.

My weight loss is going ok .... have more good days than bad days and on the bad days I just nibble on a few dry rich tea biscuits of wafers to kill any sweet cravings. I still have a bit more to shift if I am to fit into my week 1 dresses :rotfl2:

Unless you now need another formal dress to go with the other pair of shoes!!;)

Marilyn, I have played it safe and bought 2 dresses the same colour, totally different designs though. The shoes would go with both. So would you buy another pair or just go with the one pair?

I just like the idea of being able to say a few words in their language. That's about all I'll be able to do. I spent two years in high school trying to learn French and never could get the hang of it!

I had 3.5 yrs. of Spanish in high school and can barely remember any of it...I can still understand a bit, but not enough to communicate :confused3. My best friend in h.s. picked up everything and could speak like a native by the time we graduated; some people are just "naturals". I am definitely mono-lingual; I couldn't even master sign language! :sad2: But I do appreciate your phrases, and I will try to use them (esp. the most important one ;)).

Love it! Are "fancy" cakes as popular or as frequently done there as in the States? If not, I'm sure the kids were even more delighted.

Just a quick one on Palo reservations - apart from the Evening meal , I see there is a brunch and tea available - which is better brunch or tea???:surfweb:

DH loved the high tea and can't wait to do it again. I thought it was nice, but I definitely prefer brunch. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed dinner. On the EBTA last year, we were first-time DCL cruisers and were able to easily book tea and brunch onboard, shortly after embarking. We were only able to make dinner res online prior. This time, we will definitely be doing all three.

That said, the only one I would want to do more than once on this trip would be brunch.

Thanks Claire & Jill!!! The years have really flown by and after all this time, my husband is still the funnest most wonderful person I know. :love2:
Love is grand!

Mine, too (after 31 years). It definitely is .:lovestruc

Totally makes sense. When Jess was in 8th grade, she went on her first student-ambassador-type trip to Europe....three weeks with total strangers without ME! It was incredibly difficult, but I felt it was also too great an opportunity to pass up. I had that same feeling of loss, because it was the first time she really experienced something major that we didn't. She went again in 9th (back to Europe) and 11th (South Africa), which was also tough for dear old mom. The first week, I thought of nothing else; the second week, DH and I were starting to enjoy ourselves ;); and the third week just flew by and she was home. But, when she graduated from college (living home the whole time) and moved to TX...well, that's another story :sad1: :scared: :sad2:

I am letting our older daughter put an X on the calendar each day, and when I looked at it this morning, she went ahead and X'ed off the next two weeks while I was asleep... so WE are down to 11 weeks. Simply adorable!:flower3:

I tend to wear the same shoes with both formals .... they are black sandals which go with most colours so I played it safe !

Well in that case I would use the one pair for both formal dresses and buy another nice pair for any other night!!!;):rotfl: Just in case of course!!!
