A few people have let me know they want to be in all the groups, others have given me a "maybe", and others have said, "one only, please." I've been noting that on my master list.

I figure once I work out the approximate numbers for each list, the "maybe's" can decide if they want to be in one, two, or all groups (or something in between "two" and "all") and let me know that. I'll adjust lists as needed.

I see three possibilities for this. Again, input please, on which option everyone thinks is best:

A) Late-comers (those signing up after Aug 1) will have their own FE list, and it will be only them. They can "duke out" the rules amongst themselves.

B) Late-comers will be on their own list, but others (early-comers?) may sign up for that list. It will be your responsibility to let me know you want to do that.

C) Late-comers will be added to the existing lists, as they sign up. This will be with the understanding that they must give gifts to everyone (or each cabin) on their list, but the people already on the list are not required to give to the late-comers. (This seems a bit punitive, but if the late-people list is really short, it gives them a chance of receiving more gifts.)

I really think we need a decision on this (at some point, not right this second), rather than a let-the-latecomers-decide-which-option-they-want approach. By mid-August, I don't really want to be fooling with this other than to add a name here or there.

Well, yeah, I know. I just prefer a democratic approach rather than the authoritarian dictatorship. (Anyone familiar with the "peasants" scene in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail?" :rotfl: ) Let the people decide, and all that.

Besides, after a couple of drinks, I'll knock something out and it'll be fined. Or utter rubbish. ;)

My two cents is that you name the groups and make them now. If people want to be in more than one group, you just add them to the existing group.

On last years WBTA, people who came in at the last minute were in the last group as you can see from the FE list from last year.

See post FE

What some people did who had extra gifts is just randomly give them out during the cruise.

Just my thoughts...

It's gone funny again, my answer is posted before your question. :lmao:

I was just about to post the exact same thing! Wonder why it's been doing that recently.....

And btw - you got that question right, I was the person she asked ;)

:rotfl2: Excellent!!! Now I just have to hope the others get it wrong. ;)

Loving it Marilyn, you are as bad as me :rotfl: I've got a mixtures of flip flops, crocs, formal satin shoes, trainers, heels, slip on leather mules :thumbsup2

My slippers will be going in the case on Tuesday morning just before we leave. I like having my slippers on the cruise too for wearing round the room or going to the laundry :rotfl2:

My suitcase is full of clothes and my hand luggage is full of shoes. DD has all the toiletries in her suitcase as her little clothes only take up half of her suitcase.

I am just going to take about 1 or 2 days worth of toiletries on the WBTA and buy absolutely everying like shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hairspray etc at Morrisons, so that I can get all the clothes and shoes in that I want. I have to say, having the new suitcase that only weighs 3.5 kg has made a huge difference as, with all my clothes in, it's only weighing in at 17 kg just now :thumbsup2

Wow, sounds like the suitcase that I need to have! :) I will be trying hard to limit the number of shoes I take, but I always like to have options, so I'll probably end up taking too many...I always do ;) I usually have a lot of stuff (necessary items, of course) in my hand luggage; then I have to walk nonchalantly up to the check in desk and try to act as if it is as light as a feather and not heavy at all :lmao:

 I used to do that but then a few trips ago I bought a small flight bag on wheels so it's easy to pull about when very heavy. :thumbsup2

After reading your post, I've just counted the shoes that I have put in the suitcase for our upcoming 10 night cruise on the Magic on Wednesday...... 13 :scared1: DH has 3 :confused3

I packed light on everything just to make sure there is room for the shoes, there'll be more on the WBTA :rotfl2:

I always take loads of shoes as I am so uncoordinated colour wise!! Quite a few are flat sandals so light and don't take up much room. They are the best. I need 2 pairs of 'formal' type shoes as one just won't do with the colour thing. Probably will need some smarter sandals too. I like a pair of trainers and some fit flops for walking, a couple of pairs of Birkenstocks, some cheap flip flops for the beach and around the pool, and some cheap slip on flat slippers:blush:. I just love the slippers around the room and then the villa afterwards. I also might take a pair of ballet pump type shoes for when sandals aren't a good idea and trainers too heavy. Then I might throw in another couple of pairs of flat sandals just in case!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

WOW! That's a lotta shoes :goodvibes

But once I put people on a list, they get who they get. (None of this, "But I wanted to be in so-and-so's group." We are not 3rd graders! ;) )
:teacher: Yes, Miss Pat! (I'm sure we all agree).

I vote for "B".

glad i am not the only one, i have 12 to take with me lol

A girl can never have too many shoes or handbags or sunglasses. ;)

Early would be great. Gives me more time to shop for the perfect gift(s).

My thoughts exactly. :thumbsup2 I figure we will all be running around like headless chickens in the last few weeks so may as well take some time now choosing the perfect gift(s) & getting as much organised as possible. :cool1:

Hello everyone :wave2:

Just subscribing to this thread, first time cruisers so there will be plenty of questions to follow

Welcome aboard!! We are Noel and John and this will be our 5th cruise on DCL. Our last cruise was the 2010 WBTA so if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask or PM me.

Please introduce yourselves and tell us a bit about you.

My DH John and I have created a website for you view other cruisers and sign in with your information. If you want to add your picture, you can send it to us at nbirkner@yahoo.com

WBTA Website

Please check this first page link of the thread to orient yourself about the cruise, DIS members on the cruise and all the activities planned.

To help you with all the activities that are planned, here is some information to help you decide if you want to participate:

04. If you are interested in Secret Mickey Exchange, please PM Karen (karentan).

05. If you are interest in getting a WBTA lanyard, please PM Noel (birkner). See this lanyard link for example of the previous 2010 WBTA lanyard.

Hopefully, a group of DISers will volunteer to underwrite the lanyards as they did last year so they will be free to the rest of the DISers. We already have several people offering to be part of the lanyard underwriting group. If you wish to join, please send Noel (Birkner) a PM. If we get enough members, the cost should be $10 or less per member.

06. If you are interested in a WBTA lanyard pin, please PM Noel (birkner). See this pin link for example of the previous 2010 WBTA pin.Cost will be approximately 4,5 or 5 Euros per pin.

07. If you are interested in participating in a Mickey Mouse Club night, please check out this Mickey Mouse club post. Plans are to do this event on Monday September 19 at both early and late seating dinners. We will all wear our Mickey Mouse shirts and ears!!

08. I am thinking of organizing the same tour I did last year in Madeira. Here is the Madeira link to a PDF file that gives more information about the 2010 tour. If you are interested, please send Noel (birkner) a PM.

09. We are also going to do a Champagne Girls meet. The Champagne Girls event originated on the WBPC cruise in 2008. Women get together dressed in pink to drink champagne or non alcoholic bubbly and chat. Pictures of the first meet are in this post and pictures from the last WBTA are in this post. Please PM (Clare)Pinky166 to add you name to the list.

10. If you would like to join in the Scrapbooking Exchange, please PM Clare (Pinky166) with your name and room number. The idea is to give your fellow exchangers some scrapbooking embellishments for use in your scrapbooks after you return home! For more info check this post.

11 Join us for a Pajama breakfast on September 18 at 10:00 AM at Lumiere's. We will meet outside Lumiere's at 9:50 AM to take group pictures. If you are interested, please PM Mandy (MandyGirl) with the number in your party.
Here is the picture from the PJ breakfast on last years WBTA.

15. Squitty (Michelle) is oganizing private Mixology and Mojito tastings. If you are interested, send her a PM for details.

16. Karen (Pixie Dust For Me!)is organizing a stateroom tour, but we can't do it without you! PM me with your stateroom assignment and room number and we will tour as many staterooms as possible. It would be great to get one in every category!

When: Definitely on a sea day....stay tuned for which day!
Time: TBD
Where: You will be given a list of participating stateroom numbers and categories the day after we embark (to account for all those upgrades, don't you know )
Refreshments: Optional per discretion of stateroom participant.

17. If you want a designed DIS tee shirt for this cruise, follow the instruction in this post. DIS Tee shirt

18. Cliffy 97 (Dan and Bruce) are organizing a typical English pub crawl with a date TBD. Info so far is as follows:
On a sea day those who were interested would meet in one of the bars for ( Traditionally a half pint pounded, I would suggest a drink of your choice) and then visit (Crawl) every other bar on the ship at least once.

As we do not have to worry about anything closing or how we are getting home, I would I would imagine we can spend 20-30 min at each location versus the 5-10 min you have on the monopoly pub crawl in London.

Perhaps we can make tshirts up too.

Stay tuned for more details.

19. If anyone wants to organize a postcard exchange, please feel free to start one. What we did las year is bring a postcard from where we lived and left in each other's FE. It is best to limit the number of participants no more than 25 as cost and weight to bring become an issue.

You lot are scaring me. I only plan on taking 1 pair of dress shoes, 3 pair of crocs and a pair of trainers.

I know I am not taking part in the FE, I think you're right about running round like headless chickens Claire.

Welcome aboard Ziggybaby, we are Claire & Lee this will be our 3rd cruise, but 1st Transatlantic. :cool1:

Feel free to join in with our chatting & post as many questions as you want. :thumbsup2
