It seems I go to church, a few more pages appear on this thread.... I take a Sunday afternoon nap, a few more pages appear... Message: No more sleep or church! :rotfl2:

Dangit - by the time I finished typing this reply there were a dozen more posts and on a new page!!!!! :rotfl2:

Noel - you sound like us PRE-kids... using the guest room as the "staging area". Since we are in our new house with kids, I think I should start using the upstairs, but I don't want to lug everything up and down, so I am resorting to a section of the closet and probably later the dining room table. Excel has been my packing list, but those have all been shorter cruises and either Caribbean or Alaska. I am figuring the transatlantic will be more of the Alaska packing list as far as layers go, but Caribbean for the second half of the cruise.

Shoe Queens - I may be bringing a total of 3 pairs, and HOPE nobody steals sandals while we are in the pool on the ship! Those will duplicate as my flip flops. I think DD1 will have two pairs total, and the baby has yet to wear shoes. On one cruise, we were literally the cabin right inside the door from the pool on the pool deck. I don't think I ever even had to wear shoes to the pool, as we were literally two steps from our door to the deck door. And believe it or not, it was an incredibly quiet cabin.

I think I wear more that 3 shoes in one day!

LMAO-1.gif

Jill - Did you happen to notice what Shutters was charging for the cruise CD through Shutters? I think they are $ 399 , but maybe I saw someone recently post $ 299 and can't remember if maybe that is only for 7-day cruises.

I think the $399 price is right. We buy the 30 photo credit for $199 as we find the ships photographers never take more pictures than that of us that I like plus John takes tons anyway

Okay, so I started playing around with the lists. Here's the first thing - so far 6 cabins (11 people) have indicated they want to be on all lists. So roughly one-third of the cabins (or one-fourth of the people, if you go by number of people) will be repeated on each list.

The one-list-only-please people are easy to work in.

The "maybe's" are the tricky bit. How about this: If you want to be on more than one list (one list = approx. 18 cabins or approx. 45 people), decide on the total number of cabins or individuals you would want to gift, PM me that info, and I'll work out how many lists you would be on. If you're doing 1-gift-per-room, I need total number of rooms. If you're doing one-per-person, I need total number of people. If you were a "maybe" and you want to switch to the one-list camp (or the all-lists camp), let me know that, too. Each list will have at least one cabin with kids. I'm trying to distribute those evenly across the lists.

Don't think in terms of how many lists you should be on. Because of us "repeaters," 2 lists would not be 36 cabins. It would more likely be 25-30 total cabins. (Does that make sense? It made sense a couple of drinks ago.)

I'm going to get another drink. :drinking1 ;)

Hello everyone :wave2:

Just subscribing to this thread, first time cruisers so there will be plenty of questions to follow

:welcome: the group, what a fun way to start out cruising, taking a 14 nighter. Our first cruise was 10 nights and let me warn you .. it's hard to take the shorter cruises after that

We are fortunate to be POST kids in our life but even when we had kids we always used one room for "staging". Most of the clothes we wear we only use on cruises so it makes it easier to do the "staging". Of course, if it were me, DH would be doing the lugging!!

I see three possibilities for this. Again, input please, on which option everyone thinks is best:

A) Late-comers (those signing up after Aug 1) will have their own FE list, and it will be only them. They can "duke out" the rules amongst themselves.

B) Late-comers will be on their own list, but others (early-comers?) may sign up for that list. It will be your responsibility to let me know you want to do that.

C) Late-comers will be added to the existing lists, as they sign up. This will be with the understanding that they must give gifts to everyone (or each cabin) on their list, but the people already on the list are not required to give to the late-comers. (This seems a bit punitive, but if the late-people list is really short, it gives them a chance of receiving more gifts.)

I really think we need a decision on this (at some point, not right this second), rather than a let-the-latecomers-decide-which-option-they-want approach. By mid-August, I don't really want to be fooling with this other than to add a name here or there.

I say B!

Not to complicate things further, but I like to give each kid something where I might just give one present to two adults, so please let me know the ages and sexes of the kids as you can't always tell by first names.

Sending my PM now.

Liz, I have a very strange question: Where ARE the floating lights?

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day,
Karen

Karen, Have you seen Tangled? The floating lights are lanterns in the movie that Rapunzel wants to go see. I'm actually located in Sarasota Florida ;)

Waww !! You guys talks soooo much! Already 10 pages for this new thread !! :scared1:

It's hard to catch up lol

I have write this on Facebook, but I know that not everybodies goes on FB so :

Don't you guys think that it could be nice to had on the first page of the topic the people who are staying at Walt Disney World just after the cruise ?

It could be so much fun to share memories on different attractions like Splash Mountain

And also, some people on Facebook said that they will go on the Halloween Party (27th of Sept)

For now I still don't know if we could get to the Mickey not so scary Halloween Party (because it's an extra $$) but we will staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge for 3 nights! :goodvibes

If I can had one more night to our trip and go to the MNSSHP we will go for sure !!!!
We have done the one in Disneyland California last year, it was so much fun:wizard:

I love the Animal Kingdom Lodge! I hope you have a wonderful post-trip at Disney. We may do a day before the trip, but afterwards we need to go pick up our dog.

I am going to find packing very hard this time. I think John is going to have a lot less clothes than last time and he didn't have that many then!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: We will have less checked in weight but double the hand baggage weight, so I might have to pack shoes in the hand baggage too.

Toiletries are a problem for me as I have very sensitive skin and at the moment can only use the Body Shop Aloe range. So I will have to take that. I will also have a problem with a few other items too, so i think I will be decanting everything.

Aveda makes some wonderful travel containers that never leak called Refillables. You can pick them up at any Aveda salon & then decant into those.

Hello everyone :wave2:

Just subscribing to this thread, first time cruisers so there will be plenty of questions to follow

Welcome to the thread!!! We are Liz and Joe, 2nd TA and 2nd Disney cruise.

You lot are scaring me. I only plan on taking 1 pair of dress shoes, 3 pair of crocs and a pair of trainers.

I can't pack that few shoes, but I don't pack 13 pairs either - I'm somewhere in the middle with 7 pairs usually. And that is my bare minimum! :rotfl:

I have no idea why I do it, my house if far from immaculate at every other time....but the day we go on holiday it is spotless. :confused3

I've always said that if anything happened to me while away, I wouldn't want to be embarrassed when somebody came in to "deal with things"...perfectionist that I can be :).

Shoe Queens - I may be bringing a total of 3 pairs

Me, too :goodvibes

Hello,
If you are going 2 days it is not cheaper buying a passeport Annuel then a 2 day ticket. If you buy the cheapest Passeports Annuel you can't go to the park the 2 days follow the day you bought it.

Thanks Lisbeth! We will be going again in Dec and are getting the Fantasy pass. As I read recentl I think we get a small discount, but the person who sponsers you iswho get the best dea because after like 6 or 7 in a year they get their next one for free.

We are stating in torcy in a cheap and cheerful Premiere Classe that we stayed at before.

Hope you have a great trip in july!

Wow, you guys were chatty while I was messing with the FE stuff! :hyper2:

With the secret Mickey, I'm up for leaving it a bit freestyle too. Up to you if you want to do one gift or many, if you want to deliver once or more than time.
I reckon they can either be left in FEs or given to stateroom hosts, or given to guest services. Thinking as long as it gets to the recipient then that's ok with me.

If everyone wants their recipient early I can start matching people up, but it won't be for a few days until I get a day off.

I'd like to have mine early, so I have another excuse to shop.

Dennis said the funniest thing the other day. I was ordering a little travel pillow/blanket combination for on the plane and I asked him if he wanted one. He said, "No, we're getting too much stuff." :lmao: Silly man.

You lot are scaring me. I only plan on taking 1 pair of dress shoes, 3 pair of crocs and a pair of trainers.

I change shoes that many times in one day!

glad i am not the only one, i have 12 to take with me lol
I know!!!:lmao::lmao::lmao: I do try to cut down, but they just seem to make their way back into the case!!;):rotfl:
A girl can never have too many shoes or handbags or sunglasses. ;)
I have a suitcase that is mostly filled with shoes so I can NEVER just take one suitcase!!
I couldn't survive with just that amount of shoes for 2 weeks. ;)

Oh, my sisters!!! I love you all so much!!! :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc I get so much grief for the number of shoes I drag with me everywhere!

I always have that on my list, but it rarely gets done, because I'm always running around on the last few days .. tying up loose ends, pulling stuff out of closets because I need to take "it" with me, but can't find "it" anywhere :rotfl: :rotfl: By the time we leave the house it almost looks like a bomb hit it.

Ours always looks like that, too. I figure no one will burgle us because the place already looks like it's been ransacked!

I just make lists of what goes in each case and put a copy in a zip-lock bag so I know how to repack!! Any extras we pick up along the way have to fit into the extra bag I bring along for those purchases. If I have time, I make a list of those purchase to put in the extra bag.

Wow. That's impressive. :worship:

We're pretty good about organizing and packing for trips. Coming home is another story. It's pretty much cram it all in anywhere we can! ("Hey, honey, do you have room for this in your bag?") Of course, most of the time we have our car so we can get away with it.

Not to complicate things further, but I like to give each kid something where I might just give one present to two adults, so please let me know the ages and sexes of the kids as you can't always tell by first names.

Not a problem. I've been keeping track of that. It will all be on the final lists. :thumbsup2

At this pace, you'll be the one leading the pub crawl, too!:rolleyes1

Anything to be a team player! :rotfl:

man, i really do need that intervention you lot threatened me with a while back - i only own 2 pairs of timberland boots and a couple of pairs of flip flops!.....

Karen, from memory there was a heap of us who were happy to take you shoe shopping in any of the ports :) I think I probably have about 50+ pairs of shoes and 20+ pairs of boots.

Shocking when you write it down :lmao::lmao:

It's also an excuse to buy some more :cool1:

I've already promised to take Dennis hat shopping in Barca, which means he has to go shoe shopping with me. Shall we make it an excursion? :rotfl:

I have been doing some spring cleaning and came across a new captain hook costume everything but a hat. If anyone is interested in it let me know. It is a size 10-12. My son has grown in leaps and bounds and doesn't fit him

Information on Potential Madeira Tours
Here is a link to the tour we did last year.
Madeira Tour
Some of those who took the tour last year have expressed an interest in doing another tour.

Noel: Is there a list of who is signed up for the Madeira tour you mentioned on page 1? I have been looking through the DCL excursions and nothing is really catching my eye - I think this may be a better bet for us!

I haven't posted a list of DIS cruisers yet. I am finalizing the tours both East and West and hope to have all the the information up by next week.

If you are interested, I will put you on the list.

Here is the link to what the tour was like last year. It takes a few seconds to load as it is a large file.

Happy Birthday, Jess! Hope you like getting wishes from people who don't know you but are thinking good thoughts about you today. There is absolutely nothing wrong with lurking--I'm usually a lurker myself.

:bday: Jess, I hope you have a lovely day

e will all be fine. Today's Sunday School lesson was on Anger. :thumbsup2

Jess - Happy Birthday!!! :wizard: I hope Austin is not as hot as north Texas! Try a sangria at Chuy's... makes you think of Spain. :woohoo:

Wow a lot of catching up to do!

Happy birthday Jess!

Noel- I can't believe how organized you are with your packing. I wish I could be like that :worship:

You ladies and all your shoes sound like my SIL. I pack 1 pair fit flops, 1 pair tennis shoes, 1 pair dress shoes and for this trip probably an extra pair of fit flops. In fact usually when James and I go on a 7 night we share a suitcase. I definitely need to get some tips from you ladies about packing. :goodvibes

Hi Karen

Is the Cat 11A you have a sideways cabin? If not, I would be happy to add our 11 sideways to your list :)

I'll put you down Mary. The 11A I have on the list is my own accessible cabin. I think people will be amazed at the room in the cabin until they think about the turning radius that is required with a wheelchair. Honestly, you could probably park 3 Cooper Mini's in the cabin and maybe another one in the bathroom!

Thanks for offering. I've always wondered what the sideways ones are like. When I cruise with DH accessible is less of a concern as he can help me climb in and out of the tub if I'm having one of "those" days.

Karen
