FE NOTICE

We're approaching 40 cabins (89 people) signed up for the FE, so it's probably time that we discuss whether or not we want to split the list.

If you are participating in the FE, please post your opinions/preferences on the following:

First, do you think we should split the list or not?

Next, how many staterooms do you think would be reasonable for each list?

Finally, would you be interested in participating in more than one list?

If there is anything else we need to talk about, please make suggestions. I'll definitely work the lists so that there are approximately the same number of cabins/people and adult to child ratios on each.

If anyone would prefer to PM your ideas (or concerns), please feel free. I think we can all agree that few of us have unlimited resources - or luggage space - so please be frank about this. I wouldn't want anyone to feel that they can't participate because of the numbers involved.

Hi
Our luggage allowance is rubbish, so I too would prefer the list to be split.
I usually give something to everyone in the cabin so Id prefer it to be 10-15 cabins, as that would still be approx 45 items to squash in.
Of course if the general consensus is 20 then Id be ok with that.

In all the fish extenders Ive participated in (this will be our 5th) there have been considerably less cabins which makes it easier to personalise & know who you are giving to. So i dont envy you your job !!!

I have about 40 small gifts, 1 per cabin. If you make the lists fairly small, people can always join more than one. Oppose a set day to deliver - it depends how I feel on a given day how much walking i'm up to. Besides a 'schedule' makes it seem more like work than fun, imv.

Morning folks....I have just opened a Facebook account and have not got a clue! I am so behind the times.

I have clicked the link in the first page and asked to join in - what else do I need to do?

Thank you all and look forward to chatting with you over there.

I think you just wait for confirmation from one of the admins. Youre not the only one behind the times, I cant use the remote control. :guilty:

I'm a tshirt, shorts, Keens, ponytail, no makeup kind-of girl. :cool1:

AMEN!

I made laundry "packets", placing the right amt. of our normal det. in a ziploc bag with a washcloth, then just threw the cloth into the washer.

I've done this (without the washcloth, just bags of detergent) for longer trips to WDW. I've always wondered what the baggage screeners think about the bags of white powder! :rotfl:

I vote for smaller FE groups and no assigned delivery date or week. Mine requires multiple deliveries (not daily, but on specific days) throughout the cruise.

Perhaps those who prefer scheduled dates could be in a group(s) together and those who prefer a more free-form arrangement could be in a different group(s)?

i hope they stock up for us lot - imagine the mutiny if we run out of booze midway......

sorry if you guys dont agree with this - but i really dont want to end up with designated days for delivery. i'm more of the spontaneous FE person, i'll do it when i feel like walking round the whole ship. i think its also kinda unfair for those who get assigned to deliver on a port day as they've gotta take time out of an already short day to deliver.
i'm all up for freestyle FEs ;)

I agree.. I would not like assigned dates... I also pass mine out when the "mood" strikes.. I usually have several and would not want to have to give them all out at the same time..... I usually save some for the last few days so kids get things further into the cruise. On the EBTA I think we had stuff in ours everyday.

Drink bottle if you're going to take soda from the beverage station with you into the theaters (or anywhere else).

Love your list! :thumbsup2 We also carry a Water Bobble with us... has its own filter. I'm not concerned about the water on the ship, but if needing a drink at a port and no filtered water available. The Bobble has its own water filter, and is great mental reassurance with our little ones. We use it for just random travel and camping, mainly for the infant. Use one bobble, squeeze contents into cup, refill, and use next cup. Voila - filtered water for all.

Also, if I fall down the stairs after the pub crawl I will at least be heading in the right direction.

Too funny! AND you know you are on the right deck when the steps no longer go down. :thumbsup2

I actually prefer unassigned. I have just seen it listed as assigned days on some other thread's postings, didn't know what the norm is, but thought I would put my two cents in either way. ;)

Having our daughter's first birthday party yesterday, I felt like I was dressing up by NOT having the pony tail and wearing non-Keen shoes. :rotfl2:

ok ... so I had to google Keen shoes .... they look very comfortable Mandy :thumbsup2

They are wonderful! I bought them for ziplining in Hawaii. Closed toe, can throw in the washer, and literally feel like you don't have on shoes but they are sturdy! Their sandals are comfy as well - my favorites of those were discontinued, so I purchased some in a few colors before they were gone. :rotfl2:

I'm in agreement with this, as well. It's a vacation, and the last thing I want is to be "assigned" anything for any particular day (other than dinner :rolleyes1). I can see both sides, but on our last one it proved to be more convenient to deliver to a certain part of the ship one day, and another section another day. That also spread the addtl. exercise out over a few days and made the :) last longer.

On a personal note, my DD's bd is today (27! How did that happen? I had her when I was 5...it was in all the papers:lmao:). She lurks but never posts. So :cheer2::hug::bday::yoda: Jess!

Should have kept reading before I posted.....

I agree about the FE's and would prefer not to have a specific day. Maybe a compromise would be to divide the group in half, then some deliver in the first week & then half in the second week. At least that way it won't all be given out in the first few days.

I could deal with an assigned week, just not a specific day. It turned out that a lot of people saved theirs for later in our cruise, so little Larry (age 63 at the time but truly a child at heart) had goodies almost every day. :hippie:

:goodvibes Maybe I should have added that it's liquid detergent! But I often wonder what baggage screeners think about a lot of things they see!;)

Rest assured, folks, there is no way I'm assigning FE delivery days! If someone wants to take it on in their group after the lists are split, that's up to them. Can you imagine being assigned to the last day (or next to last, as we will all be packing up on the last night)? I don't think so! I really don't want all my FE stuff hanging around my room the entire cruise. I'm planning for a mid-cruise distribution, but will probably do it over a couple of days - as the spirit moves me. I'm fully in the "I'm on vay-cay; no assigned anything for me," camp!

I had thought about the "half deliver 1st week, half 2nd week" approach, but again, I think we should leave that up to the groups to decide after they're split up.

As far as the number of people per stateroom, most have only 2, a few have solo travelers, and a few have 3 to 5 (I think there's only 1 with 5 people). So 20 staterooms would translate to about 45 or so people. Maybe. Too early in the day to work that out in my head.

There are a few people who haven't posted in quite a while and haven't responded to the mini-survey. I'll give them a couple of days, then PM to see if they're still participating. In the meantime, I'll start working on splitting the lists.

Is everyone still okay with the August 1 cut off? I'm doing handmade gifts, and unless we get a huge influx of people in the last 2 weeks of July, I'll be able to handle it. But I want to be sure all the other "handcrafters" here will be okay, and people who are ordering gifts will have time to get everything in.

Some people (here and in PM's) have suggested as few as 10 staterooms per group, while most people are suggesting 20. With people participating in multiple lists, that effectively increases the total number of staterooms to split up. I'm still working on the math for that - I think it might involve calculus, actually ;). Would everyone be okay with 14 to 18 cabins per list, with as close to equal numbers of people as I can get?

And has anyone done this before who would be willing to help me out with the logistics? There's a large FAB in it for you when we get onboard! :drinking1

We're off to breakfast and grocery shopping. I'll check back later and see what everyone thinks about this. Again, feel free to PM your ideas, too. Thank you, all, for the input. I'm just a bit intimidated by the task of organizing this (and keeping everyone reasonably happy), so I really appreciate all your thoughts and suggestions!

I am game for what ever the majority wants to do for the fE list I dont mind being on more than one list. If I can help with the list let me know.
