Info on SCUBA DIVNG IN TORTOLAFor those of you wanting to go diving in my group here is the info I received from the dive shop. I have been diving with this dive shop before and was very please with their services. They are located just a couple blocks from the pier. We would walk to the shop and fill out our paperwork, get our equipment and leave from there. I have asked to dive on the wreck of the Rhone. This is a nice and easy dive with lots of fish. I enjoyed this dive. The weather will depend on where we dive. As you know this is Hurricane season so we must watch this closely. Also remember I am a PADI master scuba diver instructor and will take good care of you. I will also be needing a buddy so if you would like to buddy with me just let me know. Here is the info as I received it.




We can take a maximum of 8 divers and the cost per diver is $100 for a 2-tank dive for all certified divers. Or if the group would rather do a 1 tank dive it will be $80. The price includes dive equipment, snacks, drinks and towels onboard our dive boat.
Your ship arrives fairly early so we would be able to leave the dock by 9 a.m. and as we calculate a 5 hour turnaround you’d be back by about 2 p.m. You should be able to get to our dive shop at 8.15a.m. to complete some paperwork and be fitted with wetsuits and mask and fins where needed. Please provide us with a list of BCD sizes and names beforehand to help us get the boat set up first thing in the morning. That would be great.

You will be arriving in the middle of the hurricane season so it’s impossible to guarantee a dive site or even the possibility of diving. I believe, if there is even just a slight chance of a storm your ship will change course. However If the conditions allow it we’d be more than happy to take you and your friends to the Rhone.  To make a guaranteed reservation we normally require a 50% deposit, however, as it’s going to be in the middle of the hurricane season we would fully refund this deposit if there is a threat of a storm announced one week prior to your booking. By then your cruise ship will more likely than not have decided to change course.

I have attached a credit card form for the deposit if you wish to go ahead with a confirmed booking. Please let me know if you have any further questions or if there is anything else I can help you with.

I really hope the weather will allow us again this year to take you diving!

to saildate via our website. After that time, all reservations are final

When I think of Hershey Kisses, I think of our trips to Hershey, PA.... and the Spa at Hotel Hershey. A cocoa bean wrap, scrub, whip bath... the first time I left there and returned to our B&B, I walked in the door and Curt knew I was back without opening his eyes. He said I smelt like a walking Hershey Bar! Didn't keep me from returning our next trip... and bringing him along!

Hershey's holds a special place in my heart , even though I agree it's not the "best" chocolate (and could we ever agree on which one is?). Growing up in TN, we visited my great-grandparents in Lebanon, PA every summer...just a little ways from Hershey, PA. We'd go to the amusement park (which has grown tremendously since then) and take a factory tour, back when people weren't so concerned about security and you could walk through the factory itself (not the "ride" that they have now). It was so much fun, and a great family outing. At the end of the tour, they gave out full-sized candy bars (they were even bigger then); now it's just a snack-size. Ahhhh, the memories .

OK, kisses aren't the greatest, but they can hit the spot on occasion, and they make a darned yummy peanut blossom cookie (just a kiss stuck on top of a peanut butter cookie before it's baked).

And if you don't like Reese's pbc (which is also Hershey's), then I just don't know what to say.....

I'm finding this discussion hilarious....boy, we sure do take our candy seriously, don't we? I, for one, can't wait for the candy swap!

Update: Here is where we are with the t-shirts so far.

We are still finalizing the design but I wanted to pass this on to get feedback.

NOTE: I have asked him to add "2011" below the words "pub crawl" so that will be reflected in the final design.

I will have more info on ordering shirts very soon!

08. I am organizing two tours in Madeira. West we did last year and also one for East Madeira. Here is the a PDF file that gives more information about the 2010 tour. If you are interested, please send Noel (birkner) a PM.

09. We are also going to do a Champagne Girls meet. The Champagne Girls event originated on the WBPC cruise in 2008. Women get together dressed in pink to drink champagne or non alcoholic bubbly and chat. Pictures of the first meet are in this post and pictures from the last WBTA are in this post. Please PM (Clare)Pinky166 to add you name to the list.

10. If you would like to join in the Scrapbooking Exchange, please PM Clare (Pinky166) with your name and room number. The idea is to give your fellow exchangers some scrapbooking embellishments for use in your scrapbooks after you return home! For more info check this post.

11 Join us for a Pajama breakfast on September 18 at 10:00 AM at Lumiere's. We will meet outside Lumiere's at 9:50 AM to take group pictures. If you are interested, please PM Mandy (MandyGirl) with the number in your party.

18. If anyone wants to organize a postcard exchange, please feel free to start one. What we did las year is bring a postcard from where we lived and left in each other's FE. It is best to limit the number of participants no more than 25 as cost and weight to bring become an issue.

Come & join us for a farewell DIS lunch on the last sea day. Thursday 22nd Sept at 12.15pm, we are not sure which of the three rotational restaurants will be open on that day, should there be more than one open I have put them in order of preference - 1st Lumiere's, 2nd Parrot Cay or 3rd Animator's Palate.
Please make sure you check your Navigator that morning to see which restaurant is open for lunch as I won't be able to tell you in advance.
Please PM me if you'd like to join us and I will add you to the list, then once onboard notify the restaurant so they can seat us together at some large tables.

20. Hard Rock Cafe Meet. Some of us are hoping to meet up for drinks/a meal the evening of Friday 9th September at 6:30 PM at the Hard Rock Cafe on Placa Catalunya and is being organized by Sarah (Totally Angelic). Please send her a PM if you want to join in the fun!

21. Jane (We'reAliens) is organizing a Book Exchange. The idea is that a large bag will be hung on handrail outside stateroom 7120 available for anyone to borrow and, of course, donate books.

Attention All People Interested in the Dolphin Tour in GIbraltar

I am afraid I am having great difficulty with communication with this company. I have been sending them emails daily stating that I need to know what they are doing about the time, whether we can go back to the 10:15 time slot as originally arranged and basically just wanting to know what is going on. Apart from one email about 2 weeks ago which said they were trying to accomodate us on the 10:15 trip, but they had been approached by a cruise ship which was why they wanted us to move in the first place. They said they would get back to me the following day and I have heard absolutely nothing, despite me sending almost daily emails and it is becoming a bit stressful to be honest.

It appears to me that they have had a better offer from a cruise ship and they are not really interested in honouring our original agreement.

I have decided that I will give them one more week to respond, and if I still hear nothing then I am going to suggest we pull out of this trip as a group booking.

Obviously people can still go ahead and try and book this as individual smaller groups and maybe they will ahve better luck. I am so disappointed and frustrated as they seemed really keen to accomodate us when I first enquired, and I really feel that I am somehow letting everyone down.

For those new to DCL cruising and don't like to be left out of the loop, here are some thoughts about Special Clothing:


Formal x 2 nights - Finally, a chance to wear your tiara and gloves!

Pirate night - well, they do own the POC franchise and rights to the POC name since they built the ride at DL

Mickey Mouse Club night - wear your Mouse ears, t-shirts can be ordered from Zazzle (this is a DIS event)

PJ Breakfast - (DIS event)

Pub Crawl - shirts available for order

Champagne Girls - PINK + boa + tiara

We'll be wearing lanyards (free - don't forget to order yours from Birkner) - you'll even have a personalized name tag. It really is fun when the crew knows who you are - and you are wondering "how?" until you look down and it hits you.

There will be DISers with personalized t-shirts on - utilizing many of the designs found on this forum. You can also design your own. Also, a great chance to wear all your Disney attire without having your co-workers (and non-Disney family members) roll their eyes.

I am the opposite, since my husband gets up at 5.15am every morning so it fairly easy for me as i'm used to it. Although mine was a few weeks ago and it fell on a Sunday so no weekend lie in but never mind, it will be worth it when we're all having our meals at Palo.

How frustrating Sarah. It will be such a shame if we have to cancel. Have you threatened to pull out in the email? Maybe that will get there attention?
