i've added the link to the first page :)

has anyone started the postcard swap? i noticed the tab on the website but cant remember if anyone was actually heading this up or not?

I don't think anyone needs to head it up, we just need to make a list of who wants to participate and put it on the first page.

People typically bring a postcard from where they are from for those participating in the exchange.

Welcome John - Thanks for putting the website together. Would it be possible to add the Mixology and Mojito tastings to the events...thanks

This is the reason we bit the bullet and upgraded now:)

If DCL decide to upgrade us further, great, if not then we'll still be happy bunnies in our room.

I put the links under Events for John

I am just writing an email to DCL about the Champagne meet & just want to check what has been planned so far. This is what I think is planned/been booked for the sea days, have I missed anything or got the wrong dates?

11th -

13th - Proposed day for Ladies High Tea (not sure if this will go ahead)

15th - Proposed day for Mixology tasting - afternoon?

16th -

17th - Proposed day for Champagne Girls meet

18th - PJ's breakfast @ 10am

19th - Proposed day for Mojito tasting - afternoon?

22nd - Last sea day lunch? Is anyone organising this?

Any feedback would be great. :thumbsup2

QUOTE=squitty;41124987]Claire - we haven't been given any dates yet for either of the tastings...so if you get a date for the champagne meet I will arrange the tastings around that as well as the breakfast etc.[/QUOTE]

I will wait until we have firm dates to put them on the website.

Alcohol question?

I have read that some people take a glass of wine or beer to dinner. Is that ok?

Some have said that they've taken an OPEN bottle of wine to dinner. Again is that allowed.

And here's a cheeky question will I have to still pay for corkage if I bring a screw top bottle? ;)

We always bring a glass of wine to dinner. I am sure if you brought any type of bottle you would be charged a fee. Just my thoughts..

That sounds fine to me Sarah!

If that makes you sound like a boozer then I dread to think what people will say about me! ;) My defence is I am on my HOLIDAY! :cool1:

My take on the wine will likely be this .... we will buy few bottles in Barcelona / Gibraltar for our own consumption .. but on the first night of the cruise we will buy a bottle of red ( Tony ) and white ( me ) and when we have finished that we will bring in a glass from our own supply for a couple of nights. Then we will buy another bottle each and carry on like that, so we will vary between glasses and bottles.

I usually have a fruity cocktail drink about 4 - 5pm and I am partial to a glass of bubbly or another cocktail before dinner but don't tend to have anything other than wine WITH dinner.

After dinner somethimes we like a glass of bubbly up on deck, under the stars :cloud9:

If I have anything alcoholic earlier than late afternoon ( ie lunchtime ) it will generally be beer :drinking1

Gosh .. I sound like a right old boozer :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Maybe we should ask if they can set aside a "lush" area for us :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: :drinking1 :drinking1:drinking1:drinking1

That's good, I didn't want to be the only one. :thumbsup2

I am still trying to decide whether or not to go with a wine package as Lee doesn't drink wine at all & I like to try the different speciality cocktails they have on the menu each night. So this maybe a good compromise for me as I will have wine in the room anyway. :goodvibes

I enjoy having wine at dinner but I'm more of a mixed drink type of gal. :goodvibes I like trying their "drink of the day". They have all been good so far....of course after a few.....they are all good! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

:rotfl2: Well that would finish our formal outfits off quite nicely......would you like a brown paper bag for that bottle? :lmao:

Yes but the problem is I don't do halves. ;) To quote an advert "once you pop you just can't stop". :rotfl2:

Well here's our take the drinking schedule from last year's WBTA:-

The usual, it's 5 o'clock somewhere, either the cocktail of the day or we take a bottle up from the room and have a glass of wine before we go to get dressed for the show.

A glass of wine to take to the show.

Re-charge the glass for a drink standing out on deck watching the beautiful sunset.

A bottle of wine between us during dinner.

A drink during the act of the evening or a glass of bubbly up on the deck after dinner.

We sound like a bunch of lushes :rotfl: I'm a girl that a bottle of wine can last all weekend and I don't drink during the week.

It's just while we are on holiday, the wine just seems to flow for some reason :cool1:

I don't really mix my drink, otherwise there is absolutely no way I would ever find my way back to my room, I would be passed out on a lounger on deck 4 :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I remember them being more in the $5-6 range. I was tempted by those yummy frozen concoctions every night at dinner, and I gave in every time! Zero self-control here.

Cruise - self-control = FUN TIME! :lmao::lmao:

Self-control at what you do BEFORE the cruise! By the time the cruise comes...I'm sick and tired of self-control, and ready to just enjoy! :thumbsup2

I usually manage to finish my FAB (frozen adult beverage) with my first course, so I'm ready for that glass of wine with my entree.

I'm partial to a glass of bubbly practically any time of day. Ditto for most FAB's.

Maybe we should ask if they can set aside a "lush" area for us :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: :drinking1 :drinking1:drinking1:drinking1

We boozers have to stick together! I prefer "boozer" to "lush." Sounds a bit less sloppy. :rotfl:

Speaking of boozers...

Dennis and I usually show up at my parents' house with a case of beer, a 6-pack of hard lemonade or cider, and a couple of bottles of wine. This is to get us started on a 4 or 5 day visit. We restock as needed. This is in addition to a bottle of "hard stuff" (gin or vodka), mixers, and beer in our hotel room. My dad likes a beer or two in the afternoon and a glass of wine at dinner, though my mom rarely drinks - just doesn't like the taste of it. It's become a bit of a standing joke for us.

Somewhere along the way, Dad acquired a couple of nice bottles of scotch. As he doesn't really drink it, he put them in the liquor cabinet and forgot about them. During one visit several years ago, we discovered these bottles - roughly about 40 years old by that time - and started asking Dad when he was going to give them to us. He said, when we got engaged. This went on for three or four years. Then one Christmas, he presented us with one of the bottles, with a tag that said, "To the two boozers." Coincidentally, that was the Christmas when Dennis proposed. And no, they didn't organize it.

We opened it on our wedding day (the three of us needed a "belt" before we headed to the church). They gave us the other old bottle for a wedding present. After 40-odd years, that was some smooooothe scotch! ;)

Sounds like a great plan ...... I try not to mix drinks also but I seem to be able to take those rum based cocktails very easily .... I have never had a hangover on a cruise yet. Now back home I have a strictl 5 drink maximum on a night out otherwise I end up with a dreadful hangover. I very rarely drink unless we go out, so I am a bit of a lightweight. Is there something magical about cruise drinks that makes them hangover free !! :confused3

I am exactly the same, I suffer dreadfully at home after a night out. Cruising no problems, we never suffered one hangover between us and still managed to get up with the lark every morning and laze on a sunbed.

I love my bed too and take any opportunity to lie in, but not on the cruise, I am awake and up and ready to go :cool1:

Mind you the infighting for the sunbeds at Cove Pool last WBTA was awful, we gave up when we got up at 7 am and all the sunbeds were gone already... we gave up and went to deck 10 :thumbsup2

With all the boozing going on last year, I never saw one person staggering around or looking really drunk, maybe its the atmosphere, sea air or whatever, I don't know :confused3

Wow, I personally don't drink whisky, but I bet it was pure amber nectar by the time you drank it. What a lovely treat for the special occasions :)

Okay, so we're boozers then :lmao: as Mel said, we can have our own area designated for anyone who fancies a drink and there will always be some familiar faces :rotfl:

Geez really???? All gone by 7am? :sad2:

I guess i'll have to get Lee to put our towels out at 5am when he goes for a run. ;) (No flames please - I really hate it when people reserve beds & don't use them all day! :headache: )

Jeez. what time did these people get out there? I wish they could find a way to enforce the "no reserving loungers" rule. Mind you, I want one in the shade, as I don't tan (history of skin cancer in the family), but I never seem to snag one. Just seems wrong that people drop a towel on the chair and leave for hours.

welcome John, you have done a fab job on the website:thumbsup2

p.s Noel remember not to say any bad things about John anymore as he will see them;)

claire we had a great day, canon jack was surprisingly a pleasure, very funny though, he missed out a chunk of service, the part
"do you reject satan" but we had a good laugh about it. We had christening dinner where we got married, Lodge on Loch lomond, its a beautiful setting and we wanted ellie to have a connection to lodge on loch as all our other children were at our wedding:lovestruc

thanx for the offer, dinner would of been great;) but zazzle customer service has been excellent, i sent them copy of email from postal service and they mailed back and said they will mark it as "lost in transition" and resend tshirts:thumbsup2
Glad all went well Sarah and fab news about the T'Shirts.

I would love to lie in but having the dogs and getting up early everyday with those my body clock doesn't let me, I'm always awake at silly o'clock...we're always too excited as well when we're on the cruise.

I can't believe that about the sunbeds!

We never drink at home...honestly I can't remember the last time I had a drink. I think it might've been Christmas! Heaven help us on this cruise.

It got absolutely mental, people were all loitering waiting to pounce on any free bed. The Disney police were even watching the sunbeds On the CCTV to see if the bed had been vacant for more than 30 mins, your stuff went to lost property.

Cove pool - heaving
Family pool - completely empty
Mickey pool - busy

We found that at the family pool and deck 10 they never touched your stuff, we went to lunch, cinema etc and it was fine.

There's just not enough beds for the volume of adults on the WBTA

Ahh thats not so bad then, i'll be at the family pool or deck 10. :woohoo:

We opted for deck 10 starboard, the sun was shining down on you in the right direction for sunbathing and you didn't have to crick your neck to watch the big screen, it was the perfect height :cool1:

That's why dcl got involved by the second sea day and started clearing the beds. They got so many complaints they had to enforce the rules.

I'll be with you in the shade Pat (same reason too) Last year our friends were laughing at us as we just kept moving our sunbeds to follow the shade ....just in the shadow of the funnel on Deck 10 was a great spot, if only the sun didn't keep moving. And you had to be ready for the 12 o clock whistle !!! :scared1:

The only down side to being on Deck 10 is the trip down the stairs to cool off in the pool. I never feel particularly elegant descending stairs in a swimming costume, no matter how effective my cover up is :rotfl2::rotfl2:
