If it's the Med, it is so much a floating hotel from port to port. We dined with another DIS family, so we knew we'd have interaction. Also when traveling to Pisa, Rome... we met people and enjoyed their company. We hooked up with one family and did bits of Pisa and Rome with them - and ended up on the return train with them - my niece, Karen, interacted with the kids while the adults had a relaxing ride back.

There's just something about knowing you'll have sea days with people to want to interact beforehand. :grouphug:

Good morning all. Happy Saturday!

Have you all got any exciting plans? We have some preparation to do in our kitchen as we are planning to decorate it soon.

A bit off topic but to all of us in the UK:-
Have you see that Disney UK are offering free dining for 2012? I am seriously tempted.
Complete Orlando are a little bit cheaper than Disney direct and you also get a free refillable mug with the DDP next year.
Just holding out for DCL to release dates for Sept 2012 onwards though before considering booking, wish they'd hurry up!

Hi everyone hope you are all well?

Sorry I have not been on these boards much but I have a lot going on at work at the moment. I work for the NHS and there is a lot of cut backs going on :sad2: Within the trust I work for 1000 jobs have to go. My department is being merged with others so over half of us will be redeployed into other jobs and we all have to apply and be interviewed for the job which we already have :confused3.

Anyway on a lighter note the pictures from formal night are fab you all look amazing. We dressed up last year on our Med cruise DH & DS looked so smart:love:. DH hired his tux back here in the UK and we just put it in his case. DS had a wine couloured waist coat and cravat with black trousers (very cute). Our opinion is that because it's a special holiday (cruise) we make the effort (plus I love getting really dressed up :rolleyes1) but each to their own and what every makes you feel comfortable.

Also I am getting very confused  with the ESTA's. I know DH and I need them but it is DS. He has a new passport with the chip in it and also the symbol on the cover of his passport. Does he need a ESTA ?

Hope things settle down at work for you soon.

With regards to the ESTA, my understanding is that if you used to fill in the green visa waiver form for your son then YES he will need a valid ESTA (they expire after 2 years).

Hi Sarah. Sorry about the unsettling time. I hope you get a job you really like.

Your son will still need an ESTA as it has nothing to do with what kind of passport you have. They are quite simple to fill out, but do remember to print our the acceptance and bring with you to the terminal check in.

We booked (direct with Disney) the free dining package for our trip in September 2009, it was a really good price for Old Key West. I wouldn't hesitate to book it again. :thumbsup2

I have refrained from checking out any of the offers for next year as I promised DH we would give WDW a miss next year  I didn't however promise that I would give DCL a miss so i'm hoping & praying the Magic will be back in Europe! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Claire, we booked direct with US WDW with free DDP for our stay in Sept 09. That would be so weird if you were there the same time as us again:)

LOL's I like your style about not ruling out DCL.

Hope your job situation is sorted out quickly and painlessly and you get to keep your job. I work for the NHS too and in our trust 3 hospitals have merged and a lot of the managerial / admin staff have had to reapply for their own jobs. It's a nightmare.

Your son will need an ESTA by the way. Everyone does who enters the USA, it is a replacement for the old VISA waiver forms.

I am not planning to visit WDW in 2012 either ... but I have heard that one before :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I really want to do a cruise which involves Venice and I would love to do it on the Magic, but if the Magic doen't come to the Med we may ( those of delicate constitution please look away now ) do a Med cruise with another cruise line :scared1::scared1::scared1: If the Magic starts cruising out of New York we may change plans copmpletely !! I also want to go back to Disneyland Paris maybe in 2012.

Ha ha how strange....what were your dates for 2009? We were at OKW from 7th to 20th Sept, then 4 night cruise on Wonder, then at the Poly 24th - 28th.

I know what you mean Sarah, we could easily change our minds too, depends how much I nag him. ;) I was very surprised as the other day Lee mentioned doing a cruise on the Fantasy......:confused3 :faint:

We have always wanted to go to Venice and we've thought about doing a long weekend there at some point, maybe next year.

Venice is absolutely amazing, stunning, breathtaking .... there are not enough superlatives in the English language to decribe it. The atmosphere is incredible. We did a long weekend a few years ago and since then I have been dying to return .. and to imagine cruising up the Grand Canal .... it is definitely on my to do list for the next couple of years. I took hundreds of photos but lost them all when my hard drive died, apart from 4 I had on Facebook, so that was very sad.:sad2: and a very good reason to return. :goodvibes

Nope. They have towels by all the pools, and they hand out towels when you debark at Castaway Cay. Not sure about excursions, though.

Yes, you can get them before excursions too - if it's a Disney excursion to the beach, they give them out in the room where you assemble. If it's a non disney excursion, you may have to snag them from the pool.

My fingers will be crossed for you that you still have a job and it's a good one!
Good luck and hang tough!
