DH has just woke up from his evening snooze after a hard week at work.

Does he realise how much damage us girls can do when we have access to a pc when they are asleep

Off to the cabin in the garden now for a bubble in the hot tub for an hour :cloud9:

Have a great weekend everyone :cool1:

I need to find him another one for the second formal night this time.

How funny To see a picture that brings back so many memories, that's Howard and Anne over your shoulder, our server Leslie in the background and Gregg in the White tux, another of our table mates rushing off somewhere at the side of the picture, I must be lurking around somewhere,,,,:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Leslie was an amazing server wasn't he .. especially the second week when he had relaxed a little and recovered from his bad back a bit. I love looking at my photos of that cruise ... so many wonderful memories!

I need to google Nick and Nora too :confused3

OMG how did I not spot you on formal night last year with Tony wearing that, amazing, how brilliant does he look :thumbsup2

Oh it's getting too exciting everyone organising their lovely new frocks and outfits for the cruise, you both look fab :yay:

Nick & Nora are Nick & Nora Charles fictional characters created by the author Dashiel Hammett and played in the 6 movies made by William Powell and Myrna Loy.

In the movies, the couple was almost always dressed to the nines, especially Nora.

The 6 Thin Man movies are among my favorites of all time.

Oooooh, exceedingly jealous! We have a fireplace on the patio and light a fire most weekends Fall through Spring. Every time we do, Dennis says, "I wish we had a hot tub. We need a hot tub." To which I reply, "Would you rather have a hot tub or go to Disney?" (or "on a Disney cruise"). Guess what he always chooses.

Once again, Noel is correct! (And again demonstrates why we are going to get along famously! We own the collection.) "The Thin Man" movies, from the 30's & 40's, feature Nick & Nora solving crimes, with their faithful dog, Asta. And they always seem to have cocktails in their hands. Yet, they're never drunk. So not very PC, but funny and stylish.

Just a thought do we need to bring pool towels?

Nope. They have towels by all the pools, and they hand out towels when you debark at Castaway Cay. Not sure about excursions, though.

What is very interesting is if you read the books, one will notice that the character of Nick is very different. I have always speculated that the movies were made to fit the style of William Powell who appeared to be very much like the character in real life. Too bad they have never been remade.

You must love the Topper series as well. We have lots and lots of old movies on DVD. I grew up partially in Southern California and Channel 9 always ran old movies 24/7.

I love the vest & bowtie. If I could find a woman's tux (a more feminine version), I would love to dress up in tux and Mickey vest/bowtie! Some of us are just born "different"! lol

I have the first book, but haven't gotten around to reading it yet. And yes, I love Topper! At least, I love the first one. I don't think I ever saw the second one. I just adore Cary Grant, and as he wasn't in the second movie, I probably didn't bother to watch it.

My all-time favorite actress is Rosalind Russell. I thought she was fabulous in Auntie Mame (what a great character!) and His Girl Friday (with Cary Grant, woo hoo!).

I'm not so sure it's a bad thing that they never remade the Thin Man movies. I can't imagine anyone else playing those parts. And they'd have to update the story lines and make them all PC, with special effects and everything to attract the audiences. I just don't think they'd be the same. It'd be like trying to remake Casablanca. It would never be as iconic (or as good) as the original. (Although I have to admit, I grit my teeth when Ilsa refers to Sam as a "boy.")

I adore The Thin Man series! I need to dig them out and watch them again!

AMC ran a Thin Man marathon on New Year's Eve. We were all set to watch it with our favorite snackage and a bottle (or two) of champagne, but I woke up that morning with a nasty stomach virus and was asleep by 8:30.

I loved the books but they were very different from the movie. Cary Grant is my all time favorite actor. The second movie Topper Takes a Trip and third movie Topper Returns were very different but still fun movies. I especially love Billie Burke in both movies.

I love the fast paced dialogue in His Girl Friday!! For favorite actress, I think it is a toss up between Catherine Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly.

I think there could be a lot of fun things done with the technology we have now. I don't think they would have to make it PC but it would have to be the right combo of actor/actress to make it work!! It was just the times as when I watch other movies and see how the film industry stereotyped persons of Asian or color it is just maddening.

I think we own all five of the released DVD's.

Just Dance 2 is actually even better for a workout then Just Dance the original. I have them both and when I just can't take another Jillian Michaels workout (which are great, but tough) I throw on Just Dance 2, work up a good sweat and have a great time doing it!

Ah, great thanks...will have to keep an eye out for it.:thumbsup2
