Sept 1 2012 disney fantasy

The Disney Magic was going there before the Fantasy so that was not my concern :) I just was more concerned with the shorter port time than what we had when going on the Magic :cool2: I agree they do a great job on the tour and it is fun!!! MAKE sure you take bug spray!!!:goodvibes So let me give you an example of my fear due to time constraint was the vehicle breaking down after the tour going a little longer than normal and Disney will not wait unless you are with their excursion... I have always done private non Disney tours with a two hour give or take just like when you fly LOL so if that is the case then you are good... However the ruins are a long excursion and it takes a bus ride to get there and the walking part is atleast an hour and then the little shop and then the ride back :scared: My anxiety would kill me!!!

I know the Magic has been going there, what I meant was that they have had since April to deal with the Fantasy coming with the shorter port time. Several people have stated on reviews of the fantasy that native choice has made it back to the ship before the Disney tour bus. I agree I was fearful, but I am doing a private tour in GC too and I believe we are only there an extra hour.

:) Gotcha:thumbsup2 Just meant the rushed anxiety feeling for me is too much for bigger type excursions on time crunch because I get nervous since I have seen little things over the years.. :rotfl: I do Disney excursions on GC because I don't like waiting to tender... I am impatient and we get off first before the open tendering to other passensgers...:upsidedow

Since several of you are doing the Ruin tour in Costa Maya by Native Choice, it's making me rethink my DCL reservation. It would save me $75 to go with Native Choice over DCL. My concern is the short amount of time we are actually in port. What happens if the tour is late for some unforeseen reason? I would love to save the money but it scares me a little. We are not getting passports either just because of the cost of them.

Tbh I was worried as well, but figured this tour guide has been doing this like Drew9780 said many months now. I can't imagine he would keep us too long. On one email from him---he said he did a lot of his explanations on the bus ride there , thus freeing up time at the site. He is well aware of he short port time(that is what he said).. This tour just had so many great reviews.... I figured that was good enough for me! You need to do what you feel comfortable with... Also, if you have any concerns email them, they are very responsive.

I believe a smaller group with natives choice will be better.

Oh I totally agree!!! it was a Terrific excursion with them!!! :) It was such an extraordinary place!! And the walking into the Jungle and seeing the ruins was incredible.... It is Super Hot and quite a long haul for kiddos. Younger kids did not seem as enthused as kids over age 8 so if kiddos are going don't forget that hour ride to/fro for them to sit and walking in some areas that are really muddy:)
They explain the variety of plants which was my favorite part of the walk and talk. Please don't forget to tip them since that is a big part of their income! :) During the hour drive there we were amazed how things changed as we went deeper into Mexico seeing the homes and farms. Our group stopped and gave school supplies to a small village for the children. :) When Layla gets older I will do this excursion again and with Native Choice if we get to enjoy the port a bit longer. Wonder why we are at ports so much shorter than use to be? Anyone know?

Cruise docs arrived! Query to the past cruisers. We are allowed two bags checked per passenger. How many carry ons allowed?

Got my cruise docs today. As far as carryons I thought it was 1 per person.

So if you bring a collapsible cooler that would count as someone's carryon?

I would think it would be like a purse. Purses don't normally count as a carryon. Are u talking like a 31 type cooler or a rolling one.

Ruley3 what time of year did you do the tour before?

I think it was in November week after Thanksgiving I did that tour and remembered I was amazed it was hot and I remember the mud left over from rainy season as they called it which must be now I guess? I have cruised in Jan may Nov Dec and June... June was so hot and I prefer November but this year we are working hard to accommodate teenager schedule since he is a senior this year

When we get our luggage settled and on way to port we stop at grocery store for things over the years like diapers or forgotten items and schnapps and dietdr pepper then we rearrange our carry on bags to hold only stuff we can't stick in bags for porters to take in main luggage and everyone my tip is pack an extra bag for things you buy... one of best from disboards

I haven't decided yet? I was looking on amazon. What's 31 type? Basically I want to bring a couple gallons of organic milk and some organic yogurt. But I'll also have a bag of bathing suits and toddlers back up clothes, our "valuables" and a food/snack bag for the kids.

Also, has anyone ever checked in and boarded from the other members of your room?

You will be fine with extra bags because kiddos need that stuff and I do cute rolling bags for each kid with their snacks but when they were babies we carried their bags for them as well as our bags
... not sure about your check in question... everyone does not have to be in the line together unless you are new or have small kiddos because everyone will need a picture made

I check everyone in for our two cabins and dad and kiddos stand near ship model in case I need them and I motion them over. Last year Layla needed a new picture and I will probably do it again for her because of me wanting most accurate for picture id scans on boat. Then I head straight over to the right side to get their bands on for kids club so I don't have to do it on boat or wait in line later. Then we sit and do magnet decorating and they each make one of their own special for the door. A tradition that keeps them busy. And bring snacks and drinks for kids during the wait!: ) they are always thirsty or hungry lol

Sorry, yes it is a type of bag. It is a home based business like pampered chef. It is big where I am at, I just assumed everyone knew about it, lol. They have bags and such and you can have them personalized.

Have you tried organic rice milk? It doesn't have to be refrigerated until u open it. My kids love it. We also drink regular, soy, almond and coconut. We love milk, lol. Also, try freezing the yogurt, then you will not have to worry about keeping it cold. You could put everything in a regular bag.

I booked with Native Choice and cancelled DCL. Still a little nervous but after reading many reviews, it sounds like a great trip. The days are ticking away now :yay:
