Sept 1 2012 disney fantasy

Weather was great until the last 2 & 1/2 days....it just poured and poured. It was so wet and gross. Felt bad for the people that went down there for the long weekend, it was a total washout.

Ha! We were there for that long weekend with our twin almost two years olds--stuck in SSR rooms when they finally started rebelling at putting on the ponchos ;-) Still managed to have a relaxing trip. We will be on this Fantasy sailing and are very excited. Celebrating out 7th wedding anniversary! My second DCL cruise (first in 1999, so really feels like my first one all over) and everyone else's first! We just booked a few weeks ago. It will be me, DH, my parents, our now almost 3 year old twins, and our friends and their almost 3 year old. Can't wait!!

Guess I should have added, its Heather lol! :lmao:

Im so excited to be doing this cruise with just my daughter. She has no idea and I'm going to try to keep it a secret until we drive up to the port! She is going to go crazy! She LOVED the club and begged to go all the time on our last 2 trips! Im hoping to relax a little bit and just do whatever we want! We wont be getting off, except on Castaway Cay, so we will have a lot of time for the onboard activities :cool1:

We will be traveling with three almost three year olds and don't plan to get off the ship too much either except CC. Other than Cozumel, the other two stops are timed just perfectly to interfere with naps. Good to know we aren't the only ones!! We are hoping that the clubs will have room for our three to play, as we aren't big on the nursery idea...

I just noticed a change on port arrival times on DCL website.

Day Port Ashore Onboard
1 Port Canaveral, Florida — 3:45 p.m.
2 At Sea — —
3 Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands 11:30 a.m. 4:45 p.m. (was 10:45)
4 Costa Maya, Mexico 1:00 p.m. 5:30 p.m. (was 12:45)
5 Cozumel, Mexico 8:30 a.m. 5:30 p.m. (was 8:00am - 5:45pm)
6 At Sea — —
7 Castaway Cay 9:30 a.m. 4:30 p.m. (was 9:15-4:00pm)

I am slightly disappointed in the Grand Cayman time change. We had a lot planned for that day. No worries, we could be at home instead of on vacation. My DD11 is worried she won't have enough time to enjoy the boat !

I don't know if this has changed since your February post, but I actually Called DCL just yesterday regarding the times (as we are trying to plan a non-DCL excursion) and they said we get there at 10:15 and will be able to get off the ship by 10:45 on to the tender. In my experience (on other cruises) with GC, the tender is not a quick experience. So maybe that is why they put 11:30? Although DCL told me you have to be back on the ship by 4:45 and the ship leaves at 5:15. When I asked her the time of the last tender back to the ship, she didn't seem to know what a tender was...so....take the info with a grain of salt. But thought I would offer...

It was so bad that weekend! I couldn't believe all the rain.

mom2Kaylee changed sailings :(

Welcome! My DD will just have turned 4 the week before we sail! Where in NY are you from?

This isn't always the case - I've sailed DCL 11 times and have gotten GTY assignments as far out as 3 months from my sail date and I know of others who haven't received theirs until checking in at the port. So, 45 days out will be great but there are people on another thread here on the DIS who are 10 days from sail date and still waiting. There's really no rhyme or reason to it - just luck I guess.

As Disney always says, subject to change

Bummer about mom2Kaylee. I'm sure plenty of other nice folks out there though! From the Buffalo/Niagara Falls area.

Has anyone else heard anything about the character breakfast? We were told they'll start it sometime in September but I have a feeling it won't be our sailing.

What is the height limit if they go with you?

42 inches last time we sailed - my little guy will be just shy of that !! I know he is too chicken to try the mickey slide - which he is tall enough for - but I am sure he would ride the duck with me if they let him :\

42" inches is the minimum to ride at all. I believe it's under 48" that you must ride with an adult. Over 48" and over can ride solo, there is no maximum height limit.

When will your little ones be three? are they potty trained?

When we were on the Dream in Jan there were many many open house slots each day in both the lab and club :)

I was under the impression they weren't doing it at all - has this changed?

Birthdays are in October and all potty trained since age 2 :):):) I'm hoping they can join in the big kid clubs! I'm told its a space available issue as long as they are potty trained. We'll see....

Being a month away they *may* make an exception. I heard they have been more strict but I can not imagine a month being a huge deal if they are mature enough to be in there. Our Jack turned 3 during our last cruise and was fine in the club :)

Friends of ours sailed on the Dream April 29 and their DD turned 3 June 3rd. They let her in the clubs bc she was Potty Trained and her big sister was there with her.

Have you seen that they are offering VGT on all of the other Sept cruises?

Yep, and the August cruises before ours also have VGT. What the heck is taking so long for room assignments if there are only verandah rooms left?! We are nearly 50 days out! Cruise docs will be coming in the next couple of weeks! That means they're being printed up soon - with no cabin #'s on them! That has never happened to me in 11 cruises! I don't always choose GTY but I have probalby done GTY for at least 1/2 of them! In 12 years I've never waited so long for a room assignment! This cruise is a gift from me for my mom's 60th birthday (just the 2 of us are going on this cruise) so she's been asking me on a daily basis if we have our room # yet! I think this is her 8th Disney Cruise but her first on the Fantasy too. Can't wait to go on vacation with just me and my mom!

So do you have to reserve time in the lab and/or club for a potty trained three-year-old child? Or can the child just come and go (with parent check-in and check-out, of course)? I thought only "reservations" were necessary for the nursery? If you have to reserve in advance times in the lab or club, can that be done now or does it have to be done on ship? Thanks for any help!

3 and up do not need reservations. It is part of your cruise price.
