I read somewhere on here that there will be separate point charts for Jambo and Kidani and you could make your reservation accordingly??? I know on the current point charts that the Value accommodations is supposed to be Jambo since those will be smaller.

Doesn't make sense that they would have two point charts and that people could make reservations as such. Who would purposefully make reservations for Jambo?? :confused3

I haven't seen anything about separate points charts.

I believe that while the majority of people will book Kidani, I still think that Jambo House will be popular for three reasons:

1) Concierge rooms
2) Value rooms
3) Mara

Jambo and Kidani are the names of the two buildings that comprise AKV. It is all one resort with one point chart. All of the Value and Concierge rooms are in the Jambo House building. Jambo House also has Standard View and Savanna View rooms. The Kidani building will have only Standard View and Savanna View rooms.

People who want to conserve points by booking a Value room or splurge on a Concierge room will have no choice but to stay in Jambo House. Jambo House will also appeal to those who want to be close to Boma, Jiko and the Mara especially since it appears that there will be no counter service restaurant in the Kidani building.

All of the Standard View rooms in Jambo House face the pool area while the Std View rooms in Kidani face the pool, garden or parking lot. If you want to save points by booking a Std View and don't want to risk getting a parking lot view then booking Jambo House avoids that risk.

All really great points! I had thought of wanting to stay in Jambo if you needed to conserve points or only had so many and JUST HAD to take a trip. I will admit that I hadn't thought about being close to Boma and Jiko. I LOVE Boma. Haven't tried Jiko though....Looking forward to it. Won't Kidani have a restaurant too?

I thought more Concierge rooms were to be built in Kidani?

Yes it will have 1 restaurant: Sarna (sp?). However, it will only be table service, at least from the initial releases.

There has been some speculation that you are correct. However, all of the releases/information has stated that Concierge will only be a Jambo.

We are going to attempting to book AKV 7 months out for Aug 2009 and I will be trying to get Jambo House.

I just like the idea of having Boma, Mara, Jiko, the kids club and the gift shop all in one building. Also, they do songs and dances for the kids in the lobby area of AKL in the evening ... I'm not sure if Kidani village will be as festive and fun.

Also, I think some members might prefer the jambo house over kidani village. We are going to try kidani village on our next vacation, however, to me it doesn't feel like "home" until I walk in to the lobby of jambo house and smell the wood burning ovens at Boma and Jiko.

We are AKV owners. Point charts will be same for both. When you call to reserve you will pick Jambo or Kidani and you are guaranteed chosen building (and check in at chosen building). As to preferences, we seriously doubt we will be clamoring for Kidani although we might try it once. High preference for Jambo because of being close to Boma (which we consider the best buffet restaurant on site) and Mara (to get quick order stuff). Also, though we are sure the new Kidani pool area will be just fine, we really like the AKL pool area.

I like Jambo house, and if we go without the DGC and can get a savannah view room studio there, I'll be happy. Because of the lack of dedicated 2 bedrooms in Jambo, whenever the extended family comes, it will be Kidani for sure.

Those traveling in May worried about construction deadlines may be hesitant that Kidani will be fully operational..may instead choose to book at Jambo and use the facilities at Kidani...:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

ooooh I hadn't thought of this. DH wants to book in May for KAdani (our first reservation ever). I'll have to talk to him about that. We'll have to ask what they will do if Kadani is not ready. At that point, obviously Jambo will be full.

I did a tour of the AKV Kidani models on Thursday. A studio is pretty much the same but the 1 bedroom is much nicer in Kidani. You get the extra bathroom, the large glass shower.

I agree. There isn't much difference in the studios but the larger living area, additional bathroom and separate shower stall in the master bathroom of the Kidani 1BR/2BR make those rooms more appealing. Also, I prefer being on a lower floor closer to the animals and that is not an option in Jambo House. We will definitely give Kidani a try and see whether we prefer the larger 1BR there and whether we miss the atmosphere of Jambo House.

According to this site it's "Sanna" and they will be serving breakfast and dinner.

:thumbsup2 That will come in handy.

I would. I like being close to all and there's nothing like that gorgeous lobby...the fire pit, Boma, Jiko and the lounge :cool1:

I would hope that there won't be a big problem with going from Kidani to the lobby, meaning that it's not too far. Perhaps it might be a little quieter in Kidani because of that? :confused3 I know I would walk to the lobby. But it also looks like there will be plenty to do at Kidani as well. I would think that they would have some smaller scale lobby?? IDK. I'm trying to remember the picture in my head of the plans. There is still a lot to do. http://www.dvcwishes.com/akv_rec.htm

I COMPLETELY agree about Boma. We totally fell in love with it.

All that being said, I am now looking at the brighter side of Jambo House. We have our first stay in December, which will obviously be Jambo. Next visit, I will request Kidani and make a decision from there. I can definitely see how both places are equally enticing.

Thanks everyone!!

It's about a half a mile between the lobby of Kidani Village and the lobby of Jambo House.

Perhaps Kidani will have a gift shop where you can pick-up pre-prepared food items, similar to the refrigerator sections at the POP Food Court. If so, they will likely accept CS credits.

Looks like they will have something:
Johari Treasures
Find fascinating gifts, Disney Vacation Club logo merchandise, toys or various sundries and groceries you may need. Located in the lobby, this shop has what you are looking for — including complimentary DVD rentals for Disney Vacation Club Members.

We just booked a 1-b/r at Kidani last week, checking in May 17th.

MS did inform us that there could be construction noises during our stay.
