separate checks for large parties

We will be eating at Ohana and Liberty Tree Tavern for supper during the 2nd week in March. We are thinking about getting the DDE discount card. However, in case we don't, I am curious if with such a large party if we can get separate checks. And if we ask for separate checks does that negate the DDE discount (I'm guessing it does).

There has never seemed to be any problem involving separate checks. However, there are two considerations.

One is that if you are using DDE officially it is supposed to be one check. You may get a server who is willing to do it, but don't count on it happening.

The other is that if the entire group meets the requirement size (printed on the menu) for automatic gratuity, having separate checks will not negate this rule.
