Does everyone dress up for Pirate Night and if so, how far do you do with it?pirate:
We're dressing up! Full pirate. I was even going to try a smokey eye with makeup that I otherwise can't pull off! I hear that the dressing up is the full range of possibilities, from Captain Jack Sparrow to only wearing the bandana that DCL gives people. pirate:pirate:pirate:

Hello everyone!!

Just a note for those of you that may be personalizing gifts already...:magnify:

There are a few families on the list that haven't been on since Christmas time (or before) that are on the FE list. If you check the Disney Cruise Line site under our cruise date, there are A LOT of stateroom categories that are now available that were sold out before Christmas. It was suggested by my "Disboard bestie" Joe that I contact the ones that have been MIA for a while just to make sure they are still cruising with us. I have sent some PM's and hopefully they will make contact in the next few days. If not, I will be placing them under a "Maybe" section of the FE list. I don't want to remove them just in case they don't check the email often that their Disboard replies go to.

To be safe, if you are personalizing your gifts already, I would start with the families that you see on here more frequently. Just wait a little on those at the beginning of the list, with the exception of Joe and I of course! :teeth::teeth::teeth::teeth::teeth::teeth:

Woo Hoo thank you! We are thinking of some good things to bring along to pass out to everyone! Cannot wait!

:scratchin I have a question about passports. My husband and I are debating over what to do about the passport situation for our kiddos. I planned on getting them the full book like we will have, but my husband says that is a waste of money. In an emergency, we wouldn't be able to fly back if they don't have it. He thinks I am crazy and that we should just get the passport cards for them or even just use their birth certificates. Both of those are fine for cruising, and we don't plan on doing any international travel with them in the 4 years before the book would expire. What are the rest of you doing??

The book is accepted everywhere, where the cards are not. We cringed at having to pay $105.00 per child for only a 5 years passport, but as much as we like to cruise and travel, they will need them. Birth certificates are nice, but most always get looked at more than a US Passport for authenticity.

A few months back I posted a link to a free printable Disney cruise planner. Since so many of us are doing the parks also, here is a park one for all my fellow Type-A'ers out there (MELISSA!!!:rotfl2:)

Just joined, too! DS doesn't want to dress up at all for pirate night. I did find pirate t shirts (similar to the old tuxedo shirts) on Amazon. If I can't get my family to go all out, maybe we'll be funny pirates and have them wear those. I always think those types of shirts are hilarious :rotfl2:
I always liked those shirts! I think they are a nice alternative. You are still participating, but don't have to be in full costume.

I was just planning on getting the cards for the girls. We're driving to Florida, so I thought that would be okay. My husband and I are getting passport books since we're planning on going to Ireland in 2017. The girls are not going. Even if we get stuck in Nassau for some reason, are passports books necessary for the kids if the adults have books and they have cards?

We just got our son a passport in November in preparation for travel this year-we didn't even have the cruise booked at the time! Are you sure they won't have an opportunity to use it again before it expires? It might be something to think about, with y'all being in Texas you are a short flight to Mexico and the Galveston Cruise port is not too far, so is it a possibility you would take a trip to Mexico or even another cruise in the upcoming years? We both love to travel so even though right now we don't have another international trip planned with our son we never know when one may come up so we wanted to be prepared.

I have to admit I'm also a bit paranoid and wouldn't want to leave the country without one. I can see it being a tough call though if you really don't think you will travel again before the book would expire. Maybe just use the birth certificates...I personally think the card is a waste unless you plan to cross the Canadian and/or Mexican borders frequently by car.

If you have to fly home from Nassau then yes the girls would need them as well. The cards can only be used for crossing land borders and sea entry. Of course you can obtain passports in emergency situations overseas. I have no idea how that works though other than locating the embassy...
