Sep. 7, 2015 on the Dream

We're going to give each child a box with their magic band and a "ticket" to DW the day before we leave. Then when we leave the resort to go home will go to docks and have to take the boat instead.

I'm not sure if the cruise will stay a secret the whole time we're in DW but it would be totally cool to see their eyes open wide to the site of the cruise ship when they think they are going to the airport to fly home.

You will be taking Disney transportation from the Airport to WDW and then from WDW to the port?

Any ideas for suprising kids?
They have no idea and I'm trying to come up with a fun wayto suprise them
We did the surprise thing in December for our first Disney cruise. That was a complete bust. Tears, dragging them through check in line, them begging to go home....not the reaction I was hoping for. After about 2 hours on board they were happy. Now of course they love it and we can't wait to go back.

You guys make the FE sound so fun! Being our first cruise, I decided to just observe and see how it goes for next time. It does make me second guess that choice. I love the idea of getting gifts from all over, I think my husband thinks it's a little over the top! :)

Can't believe it's only 83 more days!

We re-watch the TLC special on Disney Cruise Lines, but don't get the Food Network one up here in Canada yet!

We don't really drink so we won't be participating in the mixology and don't have kids so won't be at the ice cream social either (party poopers!). Will there be any adult only meet up type events? I'd love to meet you guys!

I'm sure this has been covered on one of the 94 pages (WOW) but how does check in work? Can we check in at midnight EST on the 24th? Want to be ready!!! :)

I want to know that as well. Since a lot of people have already done checkin (past cruisers, concierge, etc) a lot of things are booked up or sold out already so I want to be as on the ball as I can. I'm used to just showing up at whatever time I want in the cruise terminal and getting in the queue....apparently that's not the same on Disney.

Thanks for asking....

Fingers crossed we get good PAT times and excursions we want :)

That's all we can do. Oh well, at the end of the day - we WILL get on the ship and we will have a MAGICAL vacation - so it's all good. I have plans B and C in mind if plan A doesn't work out for us.

The main thing is do I really need to be up at the crack of dawn for an early breakfast at Kona before taking my transport to the ship if I don't get a PAT until 1pm? :confused3

Does anyone know if there are staterooms that can accommodate 5 people? Not for this cruise but for next time

The ice cream social is for everyone...not just the kiddos! Even if you aren't going to eat ice cream, just stop through for a minute or two just to say hello......We just want to meet everyone we have been talking to (for almost a year!) in person. You don't even have to sign up to say hello. Just stop on by!

Good point! We will try to do that for sure.

It might be nice to get an adults only meet up that doesn't really require alcohol though.

I guess if anyone else is interested, let me know and I can organize something...either way - can't wait to meet everyone!

I was thinking of doing the suprising at home so they would be excited (hopefully) for the drive

OK what do yall mean by checking in?? I thought we just go at the time we picked to board

When you say "time we picked to board"....what do you mean? I'm pretty sure when you do your check in online in advance, you get a port arrival time (PAT), it's not something you choose? Maybe I'm totally mixed up now?
