Sentimental Thread ... post a loving/funny memory of you child!

I can post one about my step daughters, right?

One of my funniest memories is of us being in the car together. When ever we would go over a railroad track, they would say this goofy saying and lift their feet off the floorboards and yell, "Touch metal!" It never failed! And I always saw the same thing, they always touched the same metal. My youngest DSD had braces, so there they would be, the youngest grinning the widest grin,k touching her braces and the oldest touching her braces too!!!! ROTFLMBBO! :teeth:

My favorite of my dd is this one. She was close to 2. I was running late that morning and had a half hour drive to work and had to drop her off at day care. It was very quiet in my house and I had a yapper of a dd when she was young. Always on my "shirttails" following me around talking or asking me questions. Well that should have been my first clue - she wasn't yapping. So I figured she was in her room looking at a book.

So I head down the hall saying "XXXXXX, come on we have to go or mommy will be late". And as I'm saying this I see out of the corner of my eye her in the bathroom. I had already gone passed the bathroom so I had to back up. And low and behold - sure enough, she was in the bathroom. Sitting in the sink. I remember my gasp - still to this day (12 years later) and saying - what did you do!!!!!!! What had she done you might ask????

She was sitting in the sink looking at herself in the mirror because she had colored her hands and her mouth with lipstick!!!!!! She literally looked like a clown around her mouth. She had it plastered under her nose, down to her chin and from ear to ear. And then she had proceeded to also put it all over her hands. Nice bright red.

I, of course, could not help but laugh. It was so hilarious!!!! So as I'm cleaning her up I asked her why she did this. Her reply...."Because I wanted to be pretty like you mommy." Melted my heart, still does, and needless to say we were late that morning!!!!! (And of course I got a picture of it - torture later right!!!!)

No children here but this is about my sister who is much younger. One Christmas when she was about 4 she opened a package from my grandparents - it was a flat box with white tissue paper wrapping up something like pjs.

She saw the white tissue paper and being a very, very polite child said "Oooh Kleenex" like that was the best present she could receive. My mother did such a good job on her! We still kid her (she's 46 now) everytime someone opens a package with tissue paper inside. "Oooh Kleenex!"

looking back now this is funny. I didn't think so at the time.

Did you know that if you send a 3 year old boy into the bathroom with instructions
go in
take off your pants
get on the toilet
go to the bathroom
try to wipe
call me when you are done

That he will follow them to the letter. Anyone want to tell me what direction I forgot...

Yep - to lift the lid!!! He stood on the toilet lid and pooped all over it!!

I couldn't believe it. It took me forever to scrub the bathroom down with bleach water to feel like it was really clean.

Can't wait until DS starts dating, we'll have a great story!
