Looking for tips for a gift for daughter's 18th bday. Don't want to do jewelry since we did that for her 16th and she's not much of a jewelry person.

Is a car out? ;) I can't think of anything else an 18 year old would want. :rotfl: I have always had a hard time thinking of things like this myself. My son turns 30 in a few weeks & I'm trying hard to figure out what to get him. Good luck!

GPS

unlimited texting if she doesn't have it already

trip to the mall with mom for spring clothes and lunch or dinner

TV for her room (my kids don't have them yet but they are 13 & 9)

digital camera

season pass to water park or beach/lake passes for the season

tickets to a baseball game or a concert/theatre

I like the scrapbook idea too! Shutterfly makes amazing scrapbooks. Or a dvd with photos.

Do you have any jewelry or something you recieved for your 18th? My mom always did that for me. She gave me necklaces she had recieved, I loved it because it had a deep meaning going from her to me.

Another idea is put together a CD of songs that remind you of her or times you have had together.

Scrapbook of the HS yr?

My Mom did this for each of us kids when we graduated high school. Only instead of it being just high school, she did it from baby pics thru our senior year.

I am a big photo person. I love the idea of a scrapbook or photobook. A collage frame is also fun and sentimental.

I started journals for my kids when they were babies and have somehow kept them secret so far. I have not always been good about updating frequently but have done a decent job of recording their big moments and the small memories that would otherwise get lost in every day life. Not sure if I will give for 18th birthdays or hold for when older/get married/have kids.

Another idea if you have any needed items saved is to have a quilt made from old clothing or blankets

We did a birthstone ring for both DD's 16th birthdays, older DD got a cell phone for her 18th. Younger DD just turned 17, so not sure what we will do for her since she has a cell phone already.

For Graduation I scanned every pic of older DD and made a digital scrapbook/flip album and put it on a CD for her. On her 21st birthday I had a quilt made from old baby clothes and favorite t-shirts... hoping to do both of these for younger DD too.

I also made a slide show set to music one year for them both.

Other good ideas are the digital camera or tickets to something she might like.
