Sensing Pixie Dust I Am! A Star Wars Weekend PTR! New PTR Link pg. 77!

Hi, MeMom! We did have a full weekend. Sunday night Connor said we should take Monday off since we needed more time. LOL! Just five more days of school left! Thank goodness because the kids AND teachers are ready for the summer!

I am an advocate of a four day work week. I think we need three days off - one for chores and errands, one for church, and one for play. I wouldn't mind adding a couple of hours on to four school days in order to get that. Think of the gas it would save on buses, too. I know there are school systems that have gone to that. I wish ours would, but they never will. Because we have so many at-risk families, they want them in school as long as possible. They know they are in a safe environment and are being fed and nurtured, etc.

We have 10 1/2 days with students and 1 1/2 teacher days after that. I am ready for the break! :cool1:

On June 6th and 7th, we go for two in-service days if we want to be off the first two days of the October fall break. The kids get the whole week in October, and teachers do if they have done their in-service.

Have a good Sunday, Jackie and family!

I saw your beach cottage on FB and it is adorable. How wonderful to be days away from the end of the school year. I hope you guys have a great time at the beach!

Thanks, Mary Ellen! Yes, we are very excited to be heading to our little rented beach cottage in just fifteen days. Charles was looking at menus from the seafood restaurants yesterday with me.

I guess the tape has helped? I hope so. :goodvibes

It has helped a lot, Pat! :goodvibes

I would be all about four-day weeks, too. I am always more rested and organized when we have three-day weekends.

Hurray! You are in the homestretch, too. I am so ready for this next week to be over. Language arts and reading final exams are Monday which means we have four days of downtime afterwards with the kids. Unstructured time makes me twitch.

I wish we had that option here. I would be all about doing in-service in June to get a full week in October.

Have a good Sunday, Jackie and family!

You, too, MeMom. It is going to be a grocery-shopping and laundry kind of day around here. I think Charles and I are going to take the kids to a local park where there is a running track. Connor wants to try out for cross country next year, so he has been running with his sister. Since it is going to be about 67 degrees for a high, today would be a good day for them to get some running in.

Welcome to your last week, it is your last week right (I admit I didn't go back and read through the replies LOL) I just thought you were done a week before us!!! We actually have 6 full days with 4 half days for finals!!! So 10 days I have to be there...8 days I"m with students LOL!!!

Hi, Jen! It is the last week. :woohoo: The only downside is I have to move classrooms AGAIN which means packing up. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate moving? :sad2: Makes my blood run cold at the mere thought. Oh well. I have a job for which I am very thankful.

OY I completely understand MOVING stinks!!! My room isn't the best room in the school and having stools instead of chairs isn't always the funnest, BUT when asked if I wanted to move rooms I said NO!! Do you know where they are moving you this time????

But as you said having a job is very much a brightside and I am very very happy to say the same!!!! I'm going to have to PM you about some summer reading you would recommend!!!

Down to the seventh grade hall -- I have been on the eighth grade hall for about three or four years -- I have lost count . I was there a few years ago -- so the other seventh grade teachers and I were joking that I was moving back to their street.

You know I am all about summer reading -- and fall reading and winter reading and spring reading...:lmao:

Our district was seriously considering this to save money bc of our potential 11 million dollar budget issue. The governor's budget is getting much needed tweaking, so...maybe we will only need 6 million...:lmao:

The four day week seems to now be off the table bc apparently it messes with the teacher's pension. The down side would be elementary kids would have had 80 extra minutes a day--which is so much for 2nd graders. Also, what would parents do with the kids for the fifth day... We are voting on a possible salary freeze tomorrow. The governor posed this as a solution for the state's educational budget problems...:confused3

Jackie- Look at the positive side to moving- you can't be a pack rat. (I moved multiple times for renovations over the past couple of years. Our department did some serious cleaning out!) You are almost in that cozy reading nook!

Hey Jackie! :goodvibes Yay for your last week of school! :cool1: And for it almost being time for your trip!

Reading a good book at the moment?

Look how Charles has grown - becoming an Uber vacation planner!:rotfl2:

Did the salary freeze get passed? Our district is being given 15 million less by the state, so we are in the same boat. Our board is talking about doing ten furlough days next year. I get so angry when the state seems to think it can balance the budget on the back of education. :headache:

This is true! The move is coming along slowly and surely. I had some students help me move the majority of stuff this week. Just one bookcase, my bulletin boards, and my desk left to do. :thumbsup2

Excited yet?? (!)

Kathy

Almost! Next week I will be really excited -- school will be completely finished, and I will be able to focus completely on the trip.

Hey Jackie! :goodvibes Yay for your last week of school! :cool1: And for it almost being time for your trip!

Hi, Carissa! Today's the last day, Carissa! Hurray! Hurray!

Right now I am reading The Wilder Life by Wendy McClure. It is about how one woman becomes obsessed with Laura Ingalls Wilder's life. It is rather amusing although I am only about thirty pages into it. I loved those books when I was a child, so I totally relate to everything she says in it.

Right? Too funny!

I hope you're having a great last week of school. :goodvibes

It's coming to a close!!! :woohoo:

Is today your last day Jackie?! Enjoy! :thumbsup2

Today is the last official day with students! Hurray! Hurray!

Congratulations on another year of teaching!:flower3:
We'll see you in just over a week.....:yay:

Thanks, Anita!

One week from tomorrow!!! :yay:

Have a great last day! We did vote on the salary freeze with our union approving it , but we have to wait for the school board to approve it. Basically, I just donated thousands to the school... which simply doesn't seem right, but really the other options looked worse. I am not sure why I am paying more for public school education than the shareholders; I don't live in the district. I would gladly pay higher taxes to help share the burden in my home school.

Last day! Woohoo! :thumbsup2

That book is one of our group reads on a message board I belong to. It's on my TBR list. Glad to hear you're enjoying it. I'm still working on Juliet. I've read a few books in between, but now I'm really into Juliet. It kind of lost me for a bit, but it's gotten better.

Congratulations on finishing school!!!:banana: Does the last day of school feel as good as it did as a kid? :confused3

I have to agree with MeMom I think I might be more excited than the students!!! Just a bit more...not much LOL!!!

Happy Last Day of School Jackie!! Enjoy!!!! I have one more week!! But its finals so I'm not stressing about that at all!!!!!!
