Sensing Pixie Dust I Am! A Star Wars Weekend PTR! New PTR Link pg. 77!

Poor Chelsea, hoping things turn out OK for her!

Doctor told him it probably wouldn't go away until he was done growing, and he'll probably have knobby knees when he gets old because of it, he was thrilled about that

Hubby suffered from this as a teen too and you should see his knees today :rotfl2: Let's just say I didn't marry him for his legs!! he's constantly worried about our boys because of it

Aw poor Chelsea! Hopefully the tests will reveal that it is not rheumatoid arthritis. Yay for no cavities.;)

That's what we are hoping, too!

Awww poor Chelsea. That is a lot to take in. I hope everything turns out fine.

Yay for no cavitiies! :yay:

Poor Chelsea was completely overwhelmed on Monday. :(

My thoughts and prayers are with Chelsea that all works out with the blood work and the next Dr. My DH had several players that had Osgood Slatler Disease, especially when he coached middle school. Which basically they grew faster that their knees. It is planful at the time, but eventually their knees caught up with the rest of their body.

I will have to mention that to the orthopedic doctor and see if that might be a possibility.

Poor girl, that doesn't sound like fun day at all! Praying that everything turns out well for her

Thank you, Michelle. It wasn't fun at all. Chelsea was so overwhelmed by everything. She said on the way home, "Why is there so much wrong with me?" :(

My oldest has this, and yes, it is hurtful not harmful. When it bothers him we do alot of ice packs and he takes advil which helps quite a bit. He also wears a soft brace when it's hurting, that helps as well. Doctor told him it probably wouldn't go away until he was done growing, and he'll probably have knobby knees when he gets old because of it, he was thrilled about that

We do a lot of ice packs and advil as well.

Oh, poor Chelsea! Poor you, too, having to watch her go through that. I also hope that it's growing pains and not arthritis.

Charles had horribly painful growing pains when he was younger, so that's what we are hoping it turns out to be.

I hope you get to have some kind of relaxation during your break. When you're done with all the un-fun stuff, you should reward yourself with the new Kingdom Keepers book. ;) Good luck with everything!

Don't worry...I preordered the new Kingdom Keepers book from Amazon. It should be here sometime this week. My plan is to put it away for Easter, but I am not sure if I will be able to stick with that plan.

Poor Chelsea  I hope it's only growing pains.

I'm glad there was a bright side at least, hurray for no cavities!

Thanks! Yes, the no cavities was a bright spot!

Hi Jackie. I've been gone for far too long, with lots of real life things going on. If you have read my FB, you know why. But this stuff is also the reason we probably will have to cancel our October trip. So I know exactly the way you are feeling. It stinks to be an adult and pay for "responsible" things. How fun would it be to run into some extra cash and just go to Disney with it? I'm glad you have a backup plan though. The cottage sounds super cute. Going over to FB now to check it out! :)

Hi, Kelli!!! Yes, you have had your hands full lately! Extra money for Disney sure would be nice. It almost makes me want to play the lottery! ;)

I hate to hear about Chelsea's back problems. Hopefully she will get through this without too many worries.

It took several blood tests over a period of a couple of years before my RA was finally diagnosed. I'm doing ok as I'm in remission now.

I am really hoping it isn't RA. One of my best friends has it, so Chelsea has seen first-hand how not fun it is. I am glad yours is in remission right now! :goodvibes

Poor Chelsea!!! Saying some prayers for you and her! ;) Hopefully all will turn out okay! Hoping you are enjoying your BREAK!!!! Summer can't get here soon enough my dear!

Thanks, Jen! Yes, summer needs to hurry up and get here! I need a vacation in the worst way. Charles was trying to be a tempter yesterday and convince me to just pick up and head to Disney the rest of the week. I had to exert ALL of my willpower to say no. It would totally defeat our plans to be financially responsible.

Sorry Chelsea had such a bad day yesterday and praying that everything will be fine.

Thank you, Jill!

Poor Chelsea, hoping things turn out OK for her!

Hubby suffered from this as a teen too and you should see his knees today :rotfl2: Let's just say I didn't marry him for his legs!! he's constantly worried about our boys because of it

Thanks, Katie! We won't know anything until the 25th, so I am trying to just not think about it.

:scared1: He truly has gone to the "dark" side. :darth:

:scared1: He truly has gone to the "dark" side. :darth:

He truly has! He hounded me for a good two hours yesterday about it. His reasoning was I have been so stressed lately, and he wanted to see me smile again. :goodvibes I told him I would try my best to be all smiles here, and it would be so much cheaper. LOL!

I would not have even entertained that idea, so even if you cave, you STILL have much more willpower than I do! I ended up going to three stores just to get it yesterday. I will say that one of the three (my store) was a shot in the dark b/c I have never seen them there. Target was sold out, my store didn't have any (which I kinda knew), and finally Charles called Barnes & Noble while I was driving and they put one on hold for me.

I cannot believe Charles has gone to the dark side! I can't wait for the day that my Charles goes to the dark side...he isn't anti-Disney, he just has never been, so he does not understand my obsession and tells me that Katie and I are sick. :lmao: I have to admit, when I saw the picture of Darth Vader in MeMom's report from the jedi training academy, I was like  because he LOVES Star Wars and I know he would LOVE getting to see Darth Vader in person! Someday...

You're welcome, Mary Ellen! You know I could inundate you with tons of other things to do if you want. :rotfl:

:

Yes - throw it all out there. Anything you can think of. If we decide to drive down Saturday and spend the night there, any suggestions where to stay?

Any suggestions for Savannah would be appreciated, too.

I just read above about Chelsea. Poor thing. I hope she is OK and just feeling the effects of growing pains. Let us know how everything turns out.

OH - and I am going to look for the AK mug for you while we are down their in May. I hope I find it! Cross your fingers, because I remember exactly where I got it!

Charles was trying to be a tempter yesterday and convince me to just pick up and head to Disney the rest of the week. I had to exert ALL of my willpower to say no. It would totally defeat our plans to be financially responsible.

:faint:

Well, you know one is cheaper than four. Just sayin' :rolleyes1 Of course it still wouldn't be financially responsible so I understand why you didn't jump in the car the minute he said it!

Clay had an empty Cafe Dumonde (sp?) coffee can that I appropriated for the vacation fund. I'm putting all my change...and his!...in the can and whenever I go to the store and see that I saved X amount of money I'm putting the amount I saved in the can. I've got close to $60 in less than a week! I'm pretty sure we're not going anywhere on vacation this year but we should have a nice bit of cash by the time our next vacation rolls around.

You are a much stronger woman than I Jackie!! If Don tempted me with this I'd run and pack the suitcases in record time before he could change is mind (this would be after I picked myself up off the floor, of course  )

Extra money for Disney sure would be nice. It almost makes me want to play the lottery! ;)

I put my one dollar a week in the school 'pot'. If it was meant to be, it was meant to be, and I can justify the one dollar. ;) We have a teacher that spends several hundred a month, though, and there is no kind of way I would do that!

In a million years, I could not have that much willpower. :upsidedow

What about a trip to Gatlinburg/Dollywood? Would that be closer and cheaper and still be something fun? Seems like you do need something.

You are a much stronger woman than I Jackie!! If Don tempted me with this I'd run and pack the suitcases in record time before he could change is mind (this would be after I picked myself up off the floor, of course  )

Me, too. Picture me as a cartoon.
At DIS, I'd be the streak out the door,
and by the time they said NEY,
I'd be standing there with a suitcase and plane ticket.

I just read about Chelsea, poor dear. I hope she just has growing pains too and everything works itself out. She's too young for this much stress.

You have way more willpower than I do. If Dennis said go, I would go. My niece was here Monday afternoon asking when we're going next, she has never been and wants to go. We're still taking about New Years but no reservations have been made so to me it's not real.

I hope your able to enjoy the rest of your Spring Break.

If my Dh told me to go I would be gone, but that ain't going to happen.:sad2:

I wish that my DH would turn to the darkside also. He likes WDW when he's there, but would probably not go again. He's more into Vegas which is some where I don't care for.

You got that right! I would be the same way!!

I am SO impressed woman!! I would have had my shoes on and bags packed within seconds of that coming out of Charles' mouth.....and on my way to MICKEY'S HOUSE!!!!! Wow, you are REALLY being an adult! Wouldn't it be nice to be not so responsible some time! ;)

Me, too. Picture me as a cartoon.

Add me to the streakers ( not that kind) streaking out the door at the mention of DIS.

Yes - throw it all out there. Anything you can think of. If we decide to drive down Saturday and spend the night there, any suggestions where to stay?

Depends on how much you want to spend...if you want to stay over the bridge from downtown, the Shem Creek Inn is pretty reasonable.

Any suggestions for Savannah would be appreciated, too.

I am quite as big an expert on Savannah -- the only things we have ever really done down there are the Juliette Gordon Low house and River Street. Have you read Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil? I know there is a lot of stuff geared around the places in the book. Of course there is also The Lady and Sons and Mrs. Wilkes restaurant.

I just read above about Chelsea. Poor thing. I hope she is OK and just feeling the effects of growing pains. Let us know how everything turns out.

The doctor did call and say there were no signs of RA in her blood work. That's a relief.

OH - and I am going to look for the AK mug for you while we are down their in May. I hope I find it! Cross your fingers, because I remember exactly where I got it!

Oh, thank you!!! I just love it!

:faint:

Well, you know one is cheaper than four. Just sayin' :rolleyes1 Of course it still wouldn't be financially responsible so I understand why you didn't jump in the car the minute he said it!

Oh, he meant for all four of us to go -- he wasn't offering to send me by myself. LOL!

Sixty dollars in less than a week is awesome! We have an empty Cafe du Monde can, too -- we keep pens and pencils in it.

You are a much stronger woman than I Jackie!! If Don tempted me with this I'd run and pack the suitcases in record time before he could change is mind (this would be after I picked myself up off the floor, of course  )

Oh, it was tough to say no. I told Charles I felt like a drug addict at the prospect of a fix. My palms were all sweaty and my heart was racing at the mere thought of going to Disney for a few days. :lmao:

I put my one dollar a week in the school 'pot'. If it was meant to be, it was meant to be, and I can justify the one dollar. ;) We have a teacher that spends several hundred a month, though, and there is no kind of way I would do that!

There is no way I could spend that much either! Several hundred a month would go a long way towards a Disney trip!

In a million years, I could not have that much willpower. :upsidedow

It was a struggle, let me tell you!

What about a trip to Gatlinburg/Dollywood? Would that be closer and cheaper and still be something fun? Seems like you do need something.

Nah, I would want Florida. I think I can last until the end of next month to take a trip. Hopefully...;)

Me, too. Picture me as a cartoon.

I agree! The doctor did call with her blood work results -- no signs of RA which is good.

You have way more willpower than I do. If Dennis said go, I would go. My niece was here Monday afternoon asking when we're going next, she has never been and wants to go. We're still taking about New Years but no reservations have been made so to me it's not real.

I am hoping for a quick New Year's trip, too!

I hope your able to enjoy the rest of your Spring Break.

Thanks! Hard to believe it is almost over. Today we are headed out to find a dress for Chelsea's semi-formal dance.

If my Dh told me to go I would be gone, but that ain't going to happen.:sad2:

I wish that my DH would turn to the darkside also. He likes WDW when he's there, but would probably not go again. He's more into Vegas which is some where I don't care for.

My SIL just got back from a birthday trip to Vegas. It looked like a lot of fun, but I will stick with Disney.

You got that right! I would be the same way!!

I was almost halfway to the door...:lmao:

I am SO impressed woman!! I would have had my shoes on and bags packed within seconds of that coming out of Charles' mouth.....and on my way to MICKEY'S HOUSE!!!!! Wow, you are REALLY being an adult! Wouldn't it be nice to be not so responsible some time! ;)

Yes, it would be nice to be irresponsible sometimes, but I knew I would regret it.

Add me to the streakers ( not that kind) streaking out the door at teh mention of DIS.

I really am planning on closing this PTR soon, but I wanted to share a few last things with you all.

Some of you may remember that we redid Connor's room back in the fall. When we did that, most of his pictures no longer went with the new color scheme. As you can see there is a lot of blank wall space.

001-2.jpg

Yesterday, I finally found the perfect pictures for his walls.

A reproduction vintage travel poster from Disneyland from art.com. I had a 20% coupon, so it came to a whopping $15 before shipping and handling. I just :lovestruc it.

DisneylandJungleCruisePoster.jpg

On Ebay, I found some concept art from WED for the Jungle Cruise and Treehouse. I am not sure the colors will really go with Connor's room, but I couldn't resist it. It was so unusual. A six dollar Buy It Now! :thumbsup2

I also have a vintage Disneyland map my mom gave me from the 1960s. It is really big at thirty by forty-four inches. I called Hobby Lobby to see how much it would be to frame. They quoted me $200! My dad is going to do it for much cheaper. This is going to go on the wall beside Connor's bed.

003-4.jpg

By rights, I think the map should go to Chelsea since her birthday is also Disneyland's. However, she is at that age where she doesn't think Disney is quite as cool as the rest of us. :(

I ordered an adorable beach bag from PB Teen. It was on sale for $35 with free shipping, and it came earlier this week.

001-3.jpg

I also have started the book pile for the beach. Treasure Island and Swiss Family Robinson are for Connor (thanks for the idea, Cynthia!), and The Ghost Orchid and crossword puzzles are for me. I am sure I will be adding to that stack as we get closer.

002-5.jpg

Today we are headed out to find a dress for Chelsea's 8th grade dance. It should be an interesting experience. I am sure my idea of an appropriate dress may be far different from Chelsea's. Wish us luck! We also have Connor's orthodontist consult this afternoon, and then, his best buddy is going to spend the night.

I am impressed with your willpower, Miss Jackie! As many others have said, I would have been packed and off to the airport in seconds!! Good for you for staying strong!!

Love all the vintage artwork! :thumbsup2

Glad to hear Chelsea's bloodwork came back with no signs of RA but sorry she's having some issues.

Hurrah for a vacation reading pile. I've been meaning to thank you for the Discovery of Witches recommendation. I read that over my vacation last week and LOVED it!! I can't wait for the next book.

Oh, it took everything I had in me to stay strong. LOL!

Love all the vintage artwork! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I can't wait to get it all framed and on the walls.

Glad to hear Chelsea's bloodwork came back with no signs of RA but sorry she's having some issues.

Thanks! Hopefully we will know more after her orthopedic appointment on the 25th.

You're welcome! I really liked it, too. The second half of the book made me want to bake cookies and play Scrabble which I don't normally say after reading a book with witches and vampires. :lmao: I can't wait for the second one, either, since it was left in such a cliffhanger.

I love the Disney art for Connor's room. And framing the DL map is such a great idea!

Cute beach bag!

New books for the beach....:cloud9:
