Senior Trip

There was no such thing as Senior trips when I went to High School.

If there was, I couldn't have afforded to go. My parents nor I had would have had the money.

I don't know if they have Senior trips at the High School my son goes to. I guess I need to find out so I have time to save up since he's going to be a senior in the fall.

Our senior trip was to an amusement park about an hour and a half away. I didn't go because the art club was taking a trip to Chicago and I went to that instead (from Kentucky to Chicago). Had a blast.

My son (last year) flew to NYC for his senior trip. They had a lot of fun. I can't remember how much exactly it cost, but around $2,000. It was a bit of a struggle paying for it, because of all the other senior year expenses. Glad he went, though.

[QUOTE There's no way we would have paid thousands of dollars for a European trip for her. That's not remotely in our budget, and probably not in the budget of 90% of her classmates' families, either, which is probably why her school doesn't do anything like that.)[/QUOTE]

My daughter paid for $1500 of the trip by working this past summer and she was only 14, I give her a lot of credit for that! She also has saved a lot for spending $ and has been given a little extra from grandparents, aunts and cousins!:thumbsup2 My husband and I have never been to Europe or anywhere across the pond! I'm hoping this is an awesome experience for her, might be the only time she makes it to Europe.:)

I didn't have a senior trip; instead we did Senior Week in Wildwood, NJ after we graduated :cheer2:

DD17 will be a senior next year; her trip is WDW! I think the cost is around $1000 including everything (airfare, hotel, food, parks, transportation, etc).

DD's senior trip is to WDW and Universal. We start paying in installments in Jr year, it is $1500. She is the Disney "nut" in her group ( takes after her Mom) and is doing all of the planning. They are going to have a fabulous time.

In 1985 I went to WDW for my school sponsored senior trip. My kids went in 08 and 10 to WDW for their school senior trip. 90% of the students go. It cost about $1000 for 5 days at a value, tickets, some meals and all transportation. A lot of kids go to the Jersey shore for a week too. I would much rather send kids to WDW than beach week. (My kids did not do beach week)

I loved my Senior Trip. We went to the beach for 5 or 6 days. It was so much fun. I went to a private boarding school and it was built into the tuition, so no extra costs. Everyone went.

We didn't have them and I don't think my kids' school does them now. We wouldn't be forking over thousands for a trip when we are scraping to save enough for college.

DD1 sorely wants to go on one of the trips the language department does to Costa Rica or Peru. We're not springing for that either, poor child.

Exactly what I was going to say except one of my sons wanted to do summer drum corp. Poor kid had to work all summer for his spending money and savings for college.
