sending photo-changing size???

I found a shot I want to submit to Allears and it says to send a photo that is 300k in size...the photo I want to send it 1505k...too big!!! How to I resize the photo???

Do you already have editing software? Like photoshop. If not windows xp will resize a pic or there are other free programs. Let anyone know what you have for more specific details.

Go to www.irfanview.com and download that. Load the picture and either to go the Image dropdown and Resample/Resize or just hit Ctrl-R. Enter the size that you'd like the picture to be - 300k is relatively big for "web sized" photos so 1024 is a good width (full-screen for most displays.)

Go to File, Save As (or just hit S). Make sure "save as type" is set to JPG. You can uncheck the "keep original" checkboxes if you want (that'll strip the EXIF data, which will save a slight amount of room), and try a quality level of 85% or so. Take a look at the saved file to see how big it is. If it's too big, try lowering the quality level slightly or resizing the picture smaller. You don't really want to go much below 80% on the quality level.

Microsloth has some free utilities for Windows called PowerToys. One of them is a sweet little image resizer that integrates into Windows Explorer. Works great, especially when doing multiple files at once.
