Sending meals back??

Even after watching 'Waiting' I've never had issues with that. I've worked at a restaurant and nothing untoward has happened to anything that was ever sent back. We had a gentleman complain that his steak was overcooked (even though it was was bleeding all over the plate, but ok) and sent it back twice. He basically wanted it quickly seared and then served pretty much raw. The only issue was the fact that it was more undercooked than we were supposed to serve, but he finally got what he wanted!

Myself included, I worked for 5 years in a fine dining restaurant and never encountered this. First I always shared with the new servers, never take it personally, you didn't cook it, always be empathetic. People should get what they pay for. The kitchen can rant and rave, but they usually didn't. I've had people send back prime rib - HOUSE CUT, perfection, because it wasn't want they wanted - many people truly do not know what medium rare is! I've had people send back expensive bottles of wine for who knows why, but the bottom line is, dining is a paid for experience and you should be at the very least, pleasantly satisfied.

I'm more lenient sometimes and more picky at others, I know how things should come out and when it is the servers fault and when it is the kitchens. I wouldn't hesitate sending back an expensive entree not prepared as described or requested.

I should have sent my pizza back at Via Napoli because the bottom was charred black in places and the burnt taste dominated if you got any of that in a bite, but I had phone calls from back home plaguing me through that meal and frankly didn't feel like it was worth the bother. The unburnt sections weren't so good that I really wanted more anyway, and between appetizer and dessert courses that blew the entrees away I didn't walk away hungry. That's really the only meal I can think of in all our trips where the food was just badly prepared; I've had other meals I didn't care for because they were bland or unimaginative or because I ordered something that didn't turn out to suit my tastes, but only the one that was clearly an issue of preparation that I'd send back a plate over.

My wife sent a filet back at Le Cellier a few years ago because it was over cooked and they replaced it very quickly and cheerfully and I seem to remember a free refill on her wine.

Last year my wife and 2 sons all had the Fisherman's stew at Kouzinna and found it waaaay to salty. To this day they all regret they didn't send it back.

Other than that we haven't had any issues in 5 years of eating on the DP.

I wanted to send back my steak at Captains Grille. Meat was cold & my asparagus was cold and limp. So nasty...but the waiter never came back & when he finally did my family was finished w/ their meals. I should have gotten a manager, but I waited to see how long it would take for him to check on us. Worst service I think I've ever had at WDW. He offered to make me something else, but I just had it removed from the bill. I don't usually have a problem sending food back if it's inedible, though my husband HATES it when I do! LOL

one year at Le Cellier ..just hubby and myself trip.. I had ordered prime rib and when she asked how I wanted it cooked I said "I like raw but will take it rare"...I was just kidding of course....
Then it came out and the lady at the next table (tables are kinda close) said did you order salmon and I looked at my plate and it was red...on top and under and thru and thru...when she came with husbands med rare prime rib I said....could you just warm this up a bit....hahaha...but make it at least cooked on the outside....she did and laughed at me..
BUT meals at the House of the Mouse are usually enjoyed by all.....I rarely complain ...
