Sending formal clothes to be pressed upon boarding

We’ve decided to indulge ourselves during our next Disney cruise by sending all of our formal clothing to room service to be pressed. My understanding is that this can be done as soon as we receive our luggage on the day of embarkation. I expect that it is not possible to have these clothes returned before the first night's dinner (from what I’ve heard, we should be grateful if we receive our luggage by that time). However, having this done by room service will save us the hassle of pressing our clothes each remaining day before dinner. Can anyone help us understand the logistics of how this should be done? For example, does this need to be arranged in advance with DCL, or do we just contact our Stateroom Host when we get to our Stateroom? Or should we request this service at the Guest Services desk immediately upon embarkation? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

You can call your room host at any time and let them know you have laundry. We do the same thing. I put a 5 p.m. return on Sundays outfits and the other regular turn-a-round time. This will save you a lot of hassle trying to make sure everything is packed just so.

What I do is wait until Sunday morning and leave the things on the bed in the bag.......when your steward makes up your room he will see what you need.

Good luck,

Any estimates as to the cost?

...itemized based on services available?

I can see wanting to get some garments just pressed, but on a 14 day cruise, I can also see wanting someone to do some general laundry for you.

We did this on our last cruise. I packed one of our smaller suitcase with what needed to be pressed. When we got into our room I got the laundry bag and the slip, filled it out and called the room steward who came and got it. We had ours back that night. It cost us about $45.00 for a couple of pairs of pants, 3 or 4 shirts and some shorts. Well worth it to not have to worry about ironing for the next week. Have fun.

We sent 3 items to be presses - tux shirt and 2 of DW's blouses. The cost was $12.25 on our August 2004 cruise.

Laundry Service

Pressing is 50% of dry cleaning price

Dry cleaning costs

This is from the ticket they leave in your room...

That $45 sounds high for what you had done. On our last cruise, I took all our dressy clothes, including my daughters dresses, even though they were clean, they were sitting in the closet for a while, so..... I put all our clothes in a garbage bag in a separate suitcase, and made sure I had something for the first nights dinner, since I knew that it wasn't a formal or semiformal nite it was easy. Then I called our steward, who took everything, and I'm talking some stuff, it had to be 2 full suits including shirts, 3 pairs of dockers, 3 dresses for me, 3 pants suits, and 5 dresses for my DD and it cost me around $60. It was so well worth it. I figured, if I had it all cleaned at home, I would just have to pay to have it pressed on board, so I figured, let them do it all. I think they figure the charges different then the rates you show here. I think they charge one price for say a pants suit. It really is cheap. You will be so happy you did it.

When you get to your room, as soon as your luggage arrives. Take the items you need to be pressed, fill out the laundry tag attached to the laundry bag. shove everything in the bag and hang it on your door. Your stateroom host will take it (asap), they just know it is out there..lol, and your clothes will be returned the next day pressed and ready for the week. It works great, and we will never do it any other way again.

As far as the first nights dinner, really not an issue, I try to pack a "wrinkle free" type outfit for that night..something casual..doesn't matter what dining room I get attached to.

We have never had a problem with late luggage.
