We had a 7:40pm ressie and checked in around 7:20. We were seated roughly around 8pm. We were seated at a table next to a window and had a wonderful view of the France pavillion. This however was the only thing we enjoyed during our dining expierence. Our server was extremely nice and he was working really hard but they had him spread too thin and waiting too many tables.
The view from our table:
We were asked our drink order and when the drinks arrived, they brought out bread. The bread was crusty and crunchy on the our side and soft in the middle.
We then proceeded to order dinner and this is where it goes from mediocre to downright bad.
Crystal ordered:
Gratin de macaroni
Baked macaroni with cream and gruyere cheese
I liked this a lot. The pasta was cooked perfect and the sauce and cheese were an interesting combination that turned out to be very tasty. It's too bad but I'm the only one that really enjoyed my dinner. Then again I find it hard to screw up mac and cheese
Brandon ordered:
Demi poulet fermier roti, pommes rissolees et tomate grillee
Half of an all-natural roasted chicken, rissole potatoes and grilled tomato
This came out looking very pretty however the plate and food itself was so hot you couldn't touch it. At first I thought Brandon was over-exaggerating but I touched it and burnt 2 of my fingers. I've never in my life touched a plate that hot at a restaurant. It was easily over 300 degrees. Once it was cool enough for him to eat 30 min later he said the chicken was so dry he couldn't chew it so he didn't eat it. He said the potatoes were just ok. I really felt bad for him because we were almost finished with our dinners before he could even taste his.
Mary ordered:
Filet de boeuf grille, sauce au poivre noir Gratin Dauphinois et haricots verts
Grilled tenderloin of beef with a black pepper sauce original potato gratin of Savoy and green beans
Mary was very disappointed. She thought the beef was just ok nothing special. I tried it and thought the same. The potatoes on the other hand were absolutely fabulous! I'm not a big potato eater and I thought they were the best thing on the table.
Desserts:
This is where it goes from bad to worse. We ordered our desserts while our dinner plates were still on the table. About 15min later our server comes to take away our main course dishes and then we sat. After another 20min of just sitting there our desserts finally made an appearance.
Crystal ordered:
Creme Brulee
Vanilla creme brulee served with a Madeleine
This would've been very good had it been brought out right away. It was cold and the top sugar layer was soggy.
Brandon ordered:
Profiteroles au chocolat
Puff choux with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce
This was a disaster! These were supposed to be cream puffs filled with ice cream and chocolate sauce drizzled over the top. Since we waited over 30min for our desserts, this is how it was handed to Brandon. A giant sloppy mess. The poor kid couldn't eat his dinner cause it was boiling hot and now his dessert looked like this. I thought this was very poor.
Mary ordered:
Crepe a la pomme et cannelle, glace vanille, caramel jus de pommes
Crepes filled with cinnamon, apple, vanilla ice cream and apple caramel sauce
These came out cold and soggy along with the rest of our desserts. Mary thought they would have been good had they brought them out appropriately. And the ice cream was mush once you touched it.
Our one like as a family......The window view. My like......the macaroni. Other than that, I feel like we were bamboozled and cheated. We did not complain or ask to speak with a manager as our expierence was already ruined and we were over it and just plain wanted to leave. I made our ressie for 7:40 so we could walk out and catch Illuminations and we missed all of that. Didn't even get to see one firework. I was extremely disappointed and will most likely never return here and that's pretty unfortunate.
