Request Annual Passes and Premium Annual Passes
be converted over to PLASTIC cards and not to use paper
mylar cards any longer.

Plastic cards will be more durable and the magnetic
strip will last longer.

:teeth: Univeral Studio's just created plastic annual passes.
Why not suggest it to WDW also. :)

Be polite in your e-mail.
Suggest reasons such as
less wear and tear, water proof, less likelyhood of
creating a long line into the park because the magnetic
strip is worn, or what ever your reason may be.
Just be polite and to the point.

I think with Universal use of plastic on AP's
it may push WDW into plastic for AP's & PAP's too :sunny:

Thanks and have a magical day ! ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

can I tell you - I totally agree with you.

but I bashed the AP paper here once and was swiftly reprimanded and reminded that the stuff it's made out of was just as strong as plastic.

 <-- My opinion

I HATE having to carry my PAP around in that little booklet, in a waterproof container that I had to buy to keep that dang thing dry.

I totally agree and will send one off! I've always wondered why they didn't do that in the first place... ????

They are plastic - Tyvex - and won't tear or shred. I prefer the thinner cards to the thicker credit card - style. The magnetic strip would be the same on either style card.

I agree--they are not Paper! Try to tear it --you can't. And, it doesn't matter if it's plastic or the material it's made of, the magnetic strip will get damaged if you put it next to a credit card--which would be more likely if it were hard plastic. I remember when the AP's were hard plastic and you had your photo on it--much like a credit card. Personally, I like these better.

ANd if the APs are damaged or destroyed (assuming the plastic ones would be, too) it takes all of 5 minutes to get them replaced, I would NOT want to have to carry and even LARGER sleeve/cover with the AP perks on it...as it owuld need to be to hold a thicker plactic card.

I hate to disagree, but I like the passes the way they are right now.

If you put your pass in your pocket and sit down, it will bend with your body but still be flat.

Have you ever done this with a credit card for an extended amount of time? The plastic will bend and no longer be flat. This will cause people to have to get new passes as well.

Also, with the paper passes, you can keep them together in a small space. The plastic cards are thicker and would thusly take up more space, possibly forcing you to find multiple places to store the passes.

I would not mind a more durable plastic AP. My first AP had to be replaced since I put it in my pocket, and it got slightly bent. This little bend made the magetic strip not make contact with the machine reader properly, and my AP was constantly rejected. This happened repeatedly at every park gate until I begged Guest Services to issue me a new one!

I also been told AP's will never be hard plastic since plastic cards takes up too much space at Guest Services. The papery AP tickets come in big rolls, and takes up little space. Great reason!

I carry my AP in my wallet all the time. I like the fact that it is thinner than my Universal AP. It has held up well.

I prefer the thinner ticket media also. I've tried to rip one....can't do it. I carry tickets in my money clip, the thinner the better for me.

I, personally, am in favor of the ones we have now for all the same reasons. They are durable and thinner than a plastic credit card and therefore take up much less room.

Add me to the group that is just fine with our current paper APs -- we've had them for numerous years and have never had a problem.

I like the paper ones. In all the years we've used them, we've never had a problem.

The plastic ones would take up too much room.

I think its funny that the MVMCP tickets are hard plastic and they are only good for 3 hrs, but the AP's are the thin papery material and they are good for a year! :)

I don't mind though, they seem durable enough for me. It is probably more expensive to print hard plastic cards, then use the paper stock. -Stephanie

I vote for the paper.
Mine WORE OUT in February and it was replaced with no problem.

Another consideration is that if disney were to make them into hard plastic - they wouldn't work in the fast pass machines!

Right now the AP's are the same in size and thickness to the other types of park passes.

I for one want my AP to work in the fast pass machines! Can you imagine the cost if they had to re-work the fast pass machines to accomodate hard plastic cards?

I think they are fine as is. As others have mentioned, there will be pros and cons to either.

I've never had a problem with our APs. I like the current passes. If the passes are like room keys I think they would take too much room in my travel wallet. The beauty of an AP is that it can be replaced if anything happens.

A hard plastic AP would work in a Fast Pass machine I think because those who stay on site and have the UPH tickets for their length of stay use their room key as the ticket don't they? the room keys are credit card style & I think they can use fast Pass with them.

I don't mind my AP being paper - but I guess in a funny kind of way I would think it was more special if it were plastic!

Sorry but I like the current APs just fine. I use a travel wallet at WDW that had just enough room for 1 CC my DL Room Key and has a slightly smaller slot for my AP. If its not broken dont fix it.
