In April I will be going to WDW "semi solo". My aunt has a conference and I'm tagging along. This will be my 6th trip (2nd within the last 9 months). I will have mornings and afternoons (wed-sat) to myself. What would you suggest I do? I want to try more adult friendly things (of course I will hit my fave spots, I mean it's WDW, you have to be a kid :) lol) what could I do where I won't get the awkward "she's alone?" stares lol. Any good restaurant to eat alone? Places or attractions I can appreciate more by myself? I also have only gone to WDW in the summer months. Any advice for an April trip? Thanks in advance! :)

Hey there! I had a semi-solo trip in the spring of 2011, went with my sister-she had conferences to go to. I did the 'Behind the Scenes' tour. It was all day and lunch was provided. It was really good too, b/c the group was relatively small and everyone was a big park fan. It's a little pricey, but a great solo thing to do. Have fun!

The Segway tour at EPCOT is a lot of fun also. It was only about 80 dollars when we did it. I will agree the backstage tour is worth the money.

Try not to worry about it. I've spent lots of solo-time on trips with my friends (we split up during the Food and Wine Festival since I'm not interested in wine tastings) and have never felt like anyone even noticed that I was by myself (much less felt sorry for me!). If you're feeling self conscious, remember that people are way more wrapped up in their own things than you'd think, and not paying attention to you.

I do lots of attractions solo, and often strike up conversations with others in line. In fact, I love to ask little kids what their favorite rides are! As for restaurants, I'd suggest bringing something to read if you're self conscious.

Also, head over to the "Solo Travelers" forum on the DIS for other suggestions. Try to look at your solo time as a chance to do exactly what you want, on your own timetable. Have fun!
