Is that the same thing as TONIC water?

Can't believe I don't know so please educate me dissers!

And which SELTZER brand is your fave?

Yup...definitely a difference.

Seltzer and club soda are essentially the same thing: carbonated water. Brand really shouldn't make a difference because its only water.

Tonic, however, has quinine and sugar added for flavoring.

This! what are you making?

I think seltzer and club soda taste different. Our store only carries one brand of seltzer (Vintage?) but I like it. Never occurred to me that you need it for a recipe since that's all I drink, I just figured you were going to drink it! :rotfl:

They are both water with CO2 added; technically the difference is supposed to be that Club Soda has a bit of salt added (sodium, get it), while seltzer does not. That difference seems to be lost on a lot of mfrs now, though.

Tonic Water is Club Soda with a little quinine extract added to it. Originally it had a lot more quinine, and was created as a protective "tonic" to help prevent malaria.

And I'm the opposite. I can't tell one from another. I know one is naturally carbonated, and the other is artificially carbonated.

We drink TONS of seltzer in my home.... not club soda, because we always buy the store brand seltzer, which we find to be less expensive.

I drink 1-2 bottles of 1 liter seltzer a day! Love the stuff. I tend to like the Stop and Shop house brand for the flavored kind (raspberry, black cherry, lemon, lime), but Polar for the plain seltzer.

You may want to look into making your own carbonated water if you buy a lot of seltzer. We used to buy cases and cases as we don't drink tab water, too flat. DH and I go through about 6 liters a day. We bought the Soda Club carbonated water system and it works great. No more lugging and storing cases of seltzer.

I buy the generic flavored seltzer water at our local grocery store. My dad got me hooked on it as a kid. Every single person that has tried my water hates it, but I love it!

seltzer is my drink of choice! :) I prefer Polar, but I don't know how widely distributed it is. Any flavor is good except black cherry, blech (but that's just my opinion!).

Just keep in mind, seltzer water is NOT "seltzer" water in WDW... it's "soda" water. I learned this the hard way....:thumbsup2

I like flavored seltzers. I think they're a bit of an acquired taste though!
