We own a 3br. unit near Disney(not DVC) and have used it about 18 times over 3 years, so my kids want something different. I still owe money on it and don't know how I should go about selling it. I'm looking for some advice and I knew to ask here for all your expertise. Thanks in advance for any tips anyone can offer!

if you still owe money you might consider exchanging it to other places.

do you know which exchange company you can use RCI or II?

be prepared for sticker shock if you still intend to sell it.

don't be surprised if you can't even get what you still owe on it.

go ask on
www.tug2.net (you need to join - they will help you get the most of your timeshare)

you can post an ad on tug after you join (it is free to members)

also
www.redweek.com
it cost to join and then it cost to place an ad

If you want tips on how to get the best places when you exchange ask here or on tug.

I agree with Spicey. DVC resales are often higher than folks paid originally, but that is NOT the case for other timeshares in the Orlando area. Most are viewed as being "a dime a dozen", and don't great resale value. You could test the water, but if you can't sell at your price, just use it for exchanges.

I forgot to add that you would NOT be able to exchange from there into DVC though. I think there is some sort of blocking for trading into DVC from other Orlando timeshares.

How many DVC members would give up a week in a two bedroom villa, to stay for a week OFF SITE.

You mention you own a unit, but do you own it outright? or is it a timeshare property on points or assigned weeks?

That is a factor in trying to make this decision, in my opinion.

Good point, Tom and Jen. I was assumeing they were talking about a timeshare, because the title of the thread said "selling timeshare".

I think the first thing to determine is its market value. Look on the sites previously mentioned. Add MyResort.com to that list. Also call The Timeshare Store and see what their opinion is about value and time required to sell it.

Then decide if you want to sell it, use it for exchanges or rent it.
