Has anyone ever sold furniture on consignment? We are finally getting some new bedroom furniture
and I need to get rid of the stuff we have in there now. I called a local place who takes all sorts of stuff on consignment. They take 40% of the selling price. He said a lot of people are looking for stuff since they lost it in Katrina, and some people redo old furniture and resell.
The pieces are circa 1950's dresser and mirror, nightstand, and chest of drawers....nothing too fancy with normal wear and tear. I have NO idea about the value, but just from that, the guy guessed the dresser/mirror would go for $200. Better than nothing, but I wonder if its worth the hassle.
I'd have to pay them $60 to take it over there (we don't have a truck), so that would be a factor, too.
Any experience? Advice?
Thanks

I guess I kinda see his point if its just the baby and I home alone. We'd prefer not to deal with selling it ourselves.
