Selling a David's Non DVC Member Reservation

I made a reservation through David's. My Mom just informed me she purchased a DVC Membership. Mom would like to come down to Florida when I am there, but she would like to stay in a IBR since there might be 4 of us and she likes the idea of the washer and dryer and full kitchen. I am currently booked at a Studio.

I know that I cannot cancel the reservation I made through David's. Is it against my rental agreement to sell my reservation? I know the lead guest needs to remain the same, but I would still be at Disney at the same time, just (hopefully) in a different room, so I could still handle check in and what not. I am not necessarily talking about selling my reservation on this board, but perhaps if family members or friends might be interested.

I just don't want to break the rules and get in trouble with Disney or David's. Also, apologies if this is spelled out elsewhere.

I believe David's does not allow name changes on the reservation. Like disneynutz said I would check with David's.

Even if David's did consider allowing this it would be up to the individual owner who made the reservation.

They are pretty big on no changes to the reservation. It's annoying because things happen but also understandable as they would be having to contact owners about desired changes all the time. That being said, they were abot to make a small modification for me once so it doesn't hurt to ask.

If you will be there anyhow and it is family that you trust using the room, I would not even worry about asking for a lead person name change. Especially if the room won't be at max capacity (if it is at max, someone would have to assume your identity for Magic Bands and that could get confusing if you're there at the same time)- just tell David the other names have changed.

As others have mentioned, you need to contact David's and see what your options as you are the one that holds the contract. Even if you allow friends to use the room, because you decide to stay in your mom's room, you are the one that will be liable for any and all issues. Remember, all guests need to be included on a reservation in order to take advantage of Extra Magic Hours, Disney dining, and Disney's magical express. IMO, I would not do anything that does not involve the permission of the owner of the reservation.

David's won't let you do this.

My advice is this: new owners normally end up wanting to use more points than they have. Buy that annual pass and, if you're like me, you go four times that first year of ownership. (And both borrow and transfer in points to make it happen).

You're locked into the David's contract. Use it. Advise your mom to save the points for the next trip.

Unless you were able to work with him to re-sell a vacation (how else does he get the "abandoned" stays sometimes)... You're pretty much a lock.

This is directly from David's DVC Cancellation policy page:

Cancellation Policy
Due to the complexity of the point system and the fact that Members may have to bank or borrow points in order to secure your reservation, cancellations are not permitted. The lead guest name must also remain the same due to a rental agreement between the guest and the member, however, you are permitted to add or delete the additional guests listed in the room with you.

The $98 part payment is only refunded if we cannot secure your reservation request. This is the only time a refund will be granted.
