I just closed out my Cingular account and no longer need my Nokia phone. I checked e-bay and saw some. My question is this...other than deleting my phone book, what else should I do on my phone? It's no longer active, so someone could get it activated with any cell provider right?

I've never sold on E-bay before, so I'm not really sure what I'm doing. Also could I list it w/o a picture??? If I need a pic, where could I get one other than taking it myself???

HELP ME!!!!!!! :)

I'm no expert so I hope someone can add to this explaination. Yes, you could probably sell it. The problem is that most phones are "locked."

If you got the phone very cheaply when you signed up with a cingular account, the phone is probably locked. If you paid $200 or more for the phone then it is proably unlocked.

I got an account with Cingular with a free (or almost free phone.) I finished my contract with them and was going to change to another provider. I did some lurking on the the newsgroups about cellphones and found out that I couldn't.

Maybe someone has more info on this because I do know that women shelters ask for donations of old cellphones.

I just purchased a used cell phone on ebay about a month ago. I had no trouble getting it reprogrammed for Sue at Alltel. The person that had owned the phone before had cleared out the phonebook, but there was still a record of the last 20 or so outgoing and incoming calls. I had no idea that the phone I was purchasing might be locked (other than with the codes that a user can set to prevent someone from changing settings).

There isn't much of a market for used cell phones. I don't know how much you'll be able to get. You just might be better off donating it Pembo.

I've sold two cell phones on ebay and I've bought two. So if you have any questions just PM me.
