Sellers should be aware of Accounting Issues with DVC

We have been selling off several contracts (9 in all) over the last few months and we are keeping 4 contracts. We have auto debit of dues coming out as well as any loan payments. We just found out this weekend that either due to a member website update or maybe this has been going on (although we can't see anyone mentioning this before) that when they payoff request comes in from the title company, DVC accounting takes the bank account information off the contracts to prevent further auto debits. This is actually a good thing, except it makes your account look past due on maintenance fees and suspends your entire account.

We were unable to book using our points we are keeping online because the member website takes all booking links and removes them or errors out when you try to use them. I called accounting this morning and got the information that they were not aware that them taking the banking information from your contracts was causing this issue, but they are now aware of the issue. They maybe will change their practice.

Just something to be aware of because it could also cause issues for check-in to reservations while you are trying to sell contracts too.

Why does this not surprise me at all? Another reason I am glad we paid cash for our points an just pay our annual fees in full when the bill comes.

Does it tag your account as "past due" simply because the bank account information is missing, or because the monthly payment hasn't been made?

Interesting.

Wonder if it would auto-cancel reservations made because of this? Wonder if it would auto-cancel reservations made on an account you're keeping and are current with, because the software is dumb?

I wonder....

Effectively it makes it "past due" even though it has been paid through the next payment date because it reverts back to the original due date of Jan, 1st since it has not "payment account". NOT Good!!

So far, it has not auto-cancelled the two reservations I have and they assured me that it wouldn't. HOWEVER, given the few threads I have seen about cancelling when they THINK you are past due makes me very nervous..

This is a horrible way to do business..
