Okay, if you had to choose only one of these to dine at, no other options, which would you go for and why? Sell me on one or the other, but not both! Thanks!!! :cutie:

Option 1- SciFi
Option 2- 50PT

50's Prime Time would be my choice. The food is hearty, home cooked food and they have some of the best fried chicken and meatloaf. Sci-Fi has the better atmosphere but for food quality it's 50's Prime Time hands down for me.

We like sci-fi for burgers, onion rings and shakes. The atmosphere is great! Our three kids share the front seat of the car, we take the back so DH and I have a little space/time without having a kid crawl over us! And the lights are dimmed, good a/c so the kids calm down and relax and watch the cheesy moives and old time ads on the movie screen.

Good times, good times!!!

Never had 50's PT.... but I didn't like the food at SciFi at all. Cold and gummy fettuccine alfredo... not on the menu now, but it this was in 2007.

I have both booked, on two different days...but thinking of booking them on the same day. Maybe do sci - fi for lunch and 50's prime time for dinner. Not sure yet. Decisions, decisions!

We loved Sci-Fi...we've been there multiple times and had great food each time. Plus the atmosphere is good. We don't really care for 50s because of the whole interaction thing they do. DH & DDs don't really care for that.

we walked into sci fi last week when they opened (not planning on a TS, but the gang was hot and whiny.) We got seated at a flying saucer --picnic table--at the back. I wasn't expecting much, but was pleasant surprised. I had the beef and bleu salad, which was an iceburg wedge, sliced warm grilled steak, tomatoes, and bacon bits ---i think from real bacon. Way too much bleu cheese dressing...get it on the side--but it was perfectly fine. hubby had the burger, which was perfectly fine as a burger. DS and DD had the smoked turkey sandwich on multigrain. DD didn't like it as the turkey was chilled, but DS thought it was fine. It was my Bday, and htey brought out a free huge sundae. My DDs friend got the kid cheeseburger, and got fries, apple slices and fresh cut up fruit. Our server, Sofiano, was very attentive, and offered to get DD anything else on the menu.

We had eaten a few days previously at brown derby. The service there was terrible, and the food was not good. much cheaper at sci fi! we were at that point in the trip where watching the clips meant we didn't have to talk to each other, and that was good too.:rolleyes:

Sci fi used to be one of our favorite places--much because of the theming and shakes :)! After boycotting after an AWFUL meal a few years back (fall 06) we saw some menu changes and gave it another try last month. It was VERY GOOD! Not spectacular, but our server was great and the milkshakes can't be beat. DH had the ribs, which were pretty good. I had a pasta that I substituted chicken for shrimp--that was VERY good! My sons both had steaks and they said they weren't superb, but good!

50's PT just doesn't appeal to me. IDK why--we've never been, but the food choices are better for us at Sci-Fi.

We'll be back in Dec.!;)

Sci-Fi!

I wouldn't go there repeatedly, only because the movie cycle is so short, and it gets old before the end of the meal, but this is a truly unique dining experience. We have never had a problem with the food, but usually stick with the sandwhiches. The milk shakes are truly spectacular. Unless you find the theme completely unappealing, this would be my vote.

Been to both....enjoyed both.

But our choice would overwhelmingly be 50's Prime Time. We enjoy the interaction with the servers there. Food is very good. And the milkshake is the best I've had.

We love 50's. Great food, great atmosphere, and the service has always been great. Did I mention the food (Fried Chicken is awesome and the Dad's Brownie Sundae is just as good)

I liked the food better at sci-fi but neither are really spectacular. At best I would say the food is OK. Both are more about atmosphere than dining in my opinion.

PT 50's was one of the best Disney meals I have ever had. Their pot roast was amazing. My DH had the fried chicken and he said is was delicious. We had strawberry milkshakes for our drinks and huge desserts after are meal. The waitress played the part to the "t". It was a Disney experience I will never forget. My my inlaws went with us, and my MIL said she would go to DW just to be able to eat at this place again. We have been to Sci-Fi and yes their atmoshphere is cool, but PT 50's was so much better IMO. Have fun with whichever you choose, or hey just go to both!

VegasMike nailed it with that post!!!!!!!!!

The bar is fun at 50's primetime too.

Well now. That depends. Do you have kids? How old are they? Do you (or your family) enjoy "realistic" interactions with CMs? That said...a lot of folks don't remember drive-ins. I do. It can be a lot of fun to educate the rest of your party regarding what a drive-in was like. Also, the food (as of March '09) is tasty. That would be my review of the Sci-Fi Dine-In. On the other hand - I haven't been able to get my family into 50's primetime in years. Nobody but me finds the scenario fun. Food is fine, but you gotta be fairly in-your-face to enjoy being "scolded" about finishing your dinner or you won't get dessert, etc. I could do it all day long. Other folks, not so much. Might think about that. :stitch::eeyore:

I prefer Sci Fi. I love the atmsophere, its a family tradition for us, we've done it each trip but one (had a family member get sick so we missed our ADR) and can't wait to go in March. I love their burgers, shakes, onion rings, reuben and they have pretty good ribs too. I also love their sundaes and spinach dip. Its a nice relaxing meal, its generally quiet in there as everyone, young and old is riveted to the screen.

All that said, I do enjoy 50's too. I guess I grew up eating too much fried chicken in Texas because I find the fried chicken at 50's to be very sub par. But I love their pot pie, meat loaf and pot roast and to me the antics are fun since my family enjoys that. But if I was with anyone who was uncomfortable with that, it would be a nightmare!

I think they are both good, just hard to compare since they are each so unique.

Thanks everyone. For the record, it's me 23 and DH 28, no kids, and we kind of like to be left alone (except for drink refills!).

I'm liking the SciFi theme and the menu appeals to me more, while DH likes the SciFi theme and the 50sPT menu appeals to him. So it looks like 3 to 1 in favor of SciFi. Crossing my fingers I don't regret it.

If I had to pick one of them, I'd pick the Sci Fi Drive in. We go there because my DF loves their burgers and milkshakes.

I didn't care for the food at 50's PT at all.

DH and the kids love Sci-Fi Diner. I'm good as long as I can have a drink. Plus Sci-Fi has great onion rings.

They have no interest in 50's because they'll be made to eat their vegs. :rotfl:
