I have owned a cricut for a few years now. I use it in almost every scrapbooking page that I do. I have about 20 cartridges. I have probably spent about $800 on it in the last few years give or take (some of that has been gifts). I have a love/hate relationship with it. I love some of the cute images but get frustrated with some of the layers, the way that it frequently tears paper and I don't think it cuts as crisp as it should. The mats don't last nearly long enough and of course I am limited to the cartridges. I want to sell my cricut and purchase the silhouette. My dh thinks that I should wait to sell it to make sure that I like the silhouette first. What do you think? It will be hard to sell it all because I do have an attachment to certain cartridges.

Honestly, no. Buy a silhouette, and keep your cricut and favorite cartridges. I LOVE my cameo! I use it all the time. I use the studio software and scal3. I like to make my own designs. But I also use my cricut, for fast, go to designs. Mostly Disney but I do have a few other carts that I use.
I sold any carts that i never used or that I had already made a scal.

There will be deals on silhouettes come black Friday/cyber Monday. Hopefully you can snag a good one.

Mats and blades last a long time. :) longer than cricuts.

I agree to keep the cricut and purchase the silhouette...

I have my create, E and E2 still and use them. Mainly, my E2 as DD has the create off at college. I use my silhouette portrait a lot... I love to be able to pull my carts for something specific (my go to designs) and then my silhouette to make a title or cut a svg file.

Good luck with your decision.

I sold mine to a good friend.

I can always find a file similar to the cricut stuff.

And if for some reason I needed a specific cricut cut, i could go to my friends house... :rotfl:

Have you looked around the silhouette online store to check out what images are already there? and what would be similar to your favorite cartridges?

If you can afford it, buy the silhouette, and see if you use the Cricut in the next 6 months, and then sell the C if you find you don't use it!

I just got my Silhouette 2 days ago, so, I can't help you too much on that one yet. I had been thinking of selling the expression and cartridges on ebay, but, then, I decided to hang onto them for now, cause I have too much Disney scrapping to catch up with. Then, I will evaluate. I am looking forward to getting to know my new Cameo - I am making my son's Bar Mitzvah invitations. The Cameo can do so much! I am so impressed.
