My 8 year old daughter was riding Screaming single rider. Thank God she was in the car that got stuck getting ready to take off, not the one that stopped at the top of the hill. People had to climb off and walk out.

A guy with a selfie stick was told multiple times to put it away before take off and ignored the instructions. He stuck it out of the car and it got jammed in the machinery, causing the ride to break down.

People can be so stupid. What makes me really angry is that they don't care; it's bad enough when it's merely a nuisance but criminal when their actions jeopardize others.

Thanks for the news. I just knew something like this was going to happen. Next up.....injuries due to a selfishi stick......

There are already signs on several rides banning them, I suspect tomorrow they'll have temporary signs up banning them on all rides, and by next month, after their regular safety meetings, they'll ban them from the park entirely (please God, make this be true - nothing worse than getting wacked in the head by someone else's selfie stick while in line) :D

Signs at SixFlags tell you that if you remove your camera from your pocket, on a ride, you will be ejected. I assume a camera on a selfish stick would qualify.

I know Disney is nicer but anyone that does this deserves to be ejected.

As soon as his car took off on the ride, we were saying they should have refused to start the ride until he put it away, or removed him from the ride for refusing to put it away. I bet they wish they had now.

They should really eject him from the park.

What a piece of garbage! Shutting down the whole ride for all those people who want to ride it. And endangering the people on his car! I would've shamed him to no end had I been within half a mile of him.

How do people not get that their actions hurt others? Thank goodness nothing bad happened and nobody was hurt. The person who invented the selfie stick deserves to go to the same fiery place as the inventor of those Heely shoes.

Heely shoes?! :rotfl:
That made me laugh!

That is so rude and selfish. Sticking anything out of a moving ride is a big no no.
My daughter uses a selfie stick at the parks but uses it responsibly and courteously. She doesn't stick it in anyone's face. When we are trying to take a family photo we can get everyone in the shot. I'm still surprise at the rude comments she gets. Not everyone is a disrespectful with it. It's unfortunate that we can't train everyone to use responsibly.

That guy's an idiot. If you have a selfie stick, fine, but don't use it on rides. Perfect case of one selfish person ruining it for everyone else.

How in the world do you climb out at that height? yikes

I wonder what looks the riders gave the guy when they were taking off the ride! :darth:

Whatever happened to asking someone to take a picture for you? Remember that? Yeah, that was 2012. I guess Nostradomas was right... the world did end, and "the selfie" brought it about.

I don't mind selfie sticks for their intended purpose, which is taking photos of a group of (stationary) people. They are not for filming way above a crowd, they're not for use while on rides, they're not for while walking.

If people just used them in a courteous manner there would be no problem. They're a GREAT idea when used as intended, and a great idea when on vacation because there are a lot of places I wouldn't trust handing my camera to just anyone (DLR is pretty safe, but many other vacation destinations are not so much). Unfortunately, people don't seem to want to be courteous at all while using them.

This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard, though. This guy is an @$$ and I hope everyone else on the ride and in line gave him the what-for.

Yeah! And some nicely rotted tomatoes. The little ones, less mess. Lol

Forget being kicked out, I hope he was arrested for intentionally putting others in harm's way! Do people think those rules don't exist for any reason? Safety first, always! So crazy.
