Selfish Stick used during ride on CA Screaming caused breakdown

You guys are really underestimating the importance of a good "selfie" on instagram. :ssst:

Honestly if you're that much of a selfish moron, you deserve to not only be banned for life from Disneyland but you should be arrested for ignoring specific instructions to put that d_____e stick away and putting others in danger. I have very little sympathy for people like that (aka narcissists).

My gosh, what an absolute idiot. These selfie sticks are getting out of hand. People act like the sticks are literally glued to their hands, and they're always in the way of parades and shows. There is no reason to take that many pictures of yourself to warrant buying this thing. What a self-absorbed society we live in nowadys. I'm thankful everyone was unharmed, but that idiot should be banned from the property for good.

Hope and pray they ban these.

Selfies and selfies sticks are a big part of our narrcisstic society now.

The people that take part in this think they are so special and are some sort of faux pas celebrity.

Ugh.
I agree!!! I'm so sick of seeing peoples selfies - its gotten nauseating

"Selfish stick" LOL.

The person who invented the selfie stick deserves to go to the same fiery place as the inventor of those Heely shoes.

At least the shoes mainly hurt the wearers of them.

She doesn't stick it in anyone's face. When we are trying to take a family photo we can get everyone in the shot.

Believe it or not, you can ask another guest to take a picture of you all. That way no one has to have that arm out, etc. It's an amazing thing, that other people exist in the world and many will be kind enough to take a few shots of you.

But only as long as none of you do that weird half-squat thing. Please, don't do that. (I've seen pictures of people doing it when there is absolutely no reason, no one is shorter than them behind them, and it just looks like a bunch of people trying not to pee)

Was that suppose to be douche? Lol

Haha. I found myself doing that one day unconsciously when I was taking pictures with the characters. I think some part of me was trying to be shorter than them, like I was when I was a kid, but all it did was make my butt look huge. :rotfl2:

The same thing happened on the Matterhorn last weekend. The 90-minute line became even longer because this one guy (who was told THREE TIMES by CMs loading the ride to put it away) pulled his selfish stick out again as they dispatched so they had to stop the whole ride. Then it took them almost 30 minutes to cycle out the sleds, clear the track, and restart everything.

My son got whacked in the face by a selfie stick on a roller coaster because some guy sitting in front of him couldn't hold on to the stick anymore. He almost lost an eye. So imagine my happiness when I saw how Disney was really enforcing their ban of selfie sticks on such rides. My only wish was they people who cause such shutdowns could be made liable for any damages to the rides. I imagine if the stick got caught in the machinery, it's gonna cost Disney quite a bit to have the ride inspected and fixed. I find it just fair that the person who caused the damage should pay for it.

Not to say he was a Grad Nighter, but I did see a lot of Grad Nighters with selfie sticks last night.

This really worries me for my trip in July, I really hope they are completely banned by then.

I really don't mind selfie sticks for taking group pics in a stationary position. BUT, using them on rides, for shows, they should be banned. There were signs all over Disneyland saying "No Selfie Sticks."

Here is a pic from the WOC show last Friday night. Note all the sticks. This was after they asked people to please put them down.

Have you ever been hit by a Heely wearer who can't stop? Or the time one kid took down an entire card stand at Target and it landed on me, too?

I've seen that several times in restaurants. Kids playing on heelys while mom and dad sit and talk. At the Mimi's near Disneyland 2 10 +/- chasing each other took out a server with a tray of food.

I just don't understand the gall people have to just completely ignore a direct order. Is there no recourse for the CMs for people who do this kind of stuff?

I use a monopod at these things but either I wait get in the front and have it on the fence in front of me where it bothers no one or I stand in the back. I can get enough height to clear the audience. Selfie sticks on a ride are nuts, I hope they don't ruin it for us go pro nuts using hat mounts, chest or wrist mounts.
