Self ordering stations for CS restaurants

Hi there, I'm sure I saw a photo of one of these self ordering stations somewhere on here a while ago but can't remember which CS it was!

Out of interest, how many CS restaurants have one of these self ordering stations and how easy are they to use when using DDP? TIA :goodvibes

I don't know that DDP has much to do with it, DDP is only a method of payment. Unless you are asking if the kiosk will help you determine exactly what you are entitled to order and not to order on DDP.

Captain Cook's has the touch screens. I think they were at least considering them for Pecos Bill. Be Our Guest is supposed to have them for ordering at lunch.

Thanks for reply. It must have been Captain Cook's where I'd seen them then!

We've not used DDP before so I was just wondering if we'd hold things up by trying to use the self serve stations, as opposed to waiting for a cm. I wasn't sure how easy it was to make mistakes (ie. order things not included on DDP, eg. certain drinks or extra sides) and if the screen would tell you this or not!

I used them at pecos bill in Oct of last year and may of this year. Very easy to use, BUT since they are faster than the order taker you seem to have to wait for your food longer at the counter.

We used them on our last trip at both the Contempo Cafe at CR and Capt Cooks at the Poly. They were very easy to use. What I found annoying was the fact that you go to these kiosks and place your order. Then you take your slip to the cashier and pay. They then give you a pager and you wait.
To me it just seems like an unnecessary step. You have to go to a CM to pay anyways, so why not just place your order there???????

You pay separately from ordering at the kiosk, so DDP wouldn't come into play there. I don't know if the screen will specifically tell you what to order on DDP. Usually the only things that might not be eligible are side dishes and the like, so if there is a menu board, look at it to see what has snack credit logos and what doesn't before you use the kiosk to order.

When you go to the CM to pay, he/she can help you make any changes you need.

It was not easy for me at Captain Cooks. I believe the pictures of the categories are confusing and don't show all of the options. Granted I just used it one time because I wanted to be sure I got what I wanted by looking at the menu board and asking for it. I like not using them better.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like waiting in the usual queue is preferable, at least we can talk directly to the cm to make sure we are doing things right :)

I actually preferred the kiosk ordering. We used them at contempo cafe for several meals. It's very easy to use and we felt it was much faster than typical queues. We became so familiar with it, that we were showing other families how to use it :) Also, I liked being able to see on the screen that my order was entered correctly (like hold the mayo, etc).

Jumping in with a question ...

I am intrigued with Contempo Cafe as a possible lunch option when we're in MK - the choices seem different than the normal CS menus (thinking about the Mahi sandwich)

Can you 'customize' your order - for instnace, if a grilled chicken sandwich comes with cheese - can I say 'no cheese'?

Yes. After you put the menu item in your "cart", it will lists the items that can be removed (like cheese or mayo), and ask you if you want to modify these items. I was able to remove mayo/sauce on different items and I remember seeing options about cheese. Oh course if you have any problems or something isn't listed, you can talk to a CM.

Btw, we loved the contempo cafe's unique items. I liked the mahi sandwich, but my favorite was the hot roast beef. My DH loved the hot turkey sandwich that has apples & apple butter on it. He had it 3 times :)

Thank you this is definitely the answer I was looking for - Contempo is seeming even more attractive now - nice alternative to the burgers and fries at most CS (wouldn't have worked for us though if we couldn't take things off the entrees)

Captn Cooks at Poly
Contempo at Contemporary
Pecos Bill at MK

This was end of July/early August this year.

Everythign was easily modifiable.

Contempo Cafe also has touch screens and they are so easy to use. I like this place the best because of the variety of meals offered.

That Mahi sandwich was delicious. I usually do not like coleslaw, but something about it all together, was super yummy!!!
