Simply:

It's all about the logo. The "regular" & much less expensive Disney bags seem to be aimed solely toward tweens & teens. Having a Dooney, even if covered in Princess faces, gives the illusion that they're actually FOR adults. While I'm not crazy about Dooney's quality, personally - they are much sturdier than the cheapy ones that fall apart after just a few weeks.

Since no one else in my house shares my excitement, this seems the appropriate place for me to share, LOL. My Mom just sent me the WDW 40th Anniversary special edition bucket bag for my birthday! I squealed and jumped up and down, LOL.

Dooney purses are expensive whether they are Disney themed or not. Most of the Disney ones are leather. Personally I prefer Fossil purses, also leather and maybe not cheap, but not as expensive as Dooney or Coach.

Dooney and Bourke have marketed themselves as a luxury, high end brand.

This is the same reason some jeans are $300 and some $45.

You are paying for a brand name and hopefully, better craftsmanship.

It's just my humble opinion but I love all my Dooneys. I think the craftsmanship is amazing. I have some that are over a decade or two old. They truly do hold up. I also have quite a few now of the Disney ones and they are just as well made. I lust after, no...covet the Sketch Weekender. I've always wanted to covet something anyway before I passed on.

Thanks Kevin for the tip, Mama gifted herself with a new Disney Dooney and sometime next week I'll be sporting the Wonder medium Tote.

Your picture made me laugh. As soon as I get one, that duck hang tag is the first thing to come off. It is heavy and I don't need or want a duck on my Mickey Mouse purse.

People will pay for it.

Dooney bags are cute and fun. They make a few hip, trashy bags, but generally the Dooney bags aren't purses you would envision a hooker carrying.

Lately...honestly...the bags aren't doing it for me. Not as cute as they were.

The quality was top-notch, but has slipped a little the last few years. Still, I think you could buy one and carry it for life.

I'm not loyal to Dooney. I'll buy a Fossil, Sag or Wal-Mart purse if I think it's cute. But until recently, I've thought a lot of the Dooney purses were cute.

For me, it has nothing to do with brand name. I don't care about that and think anyone who does is stupid and shallow. I just like Dooney purses.

And before anyone says it, I agree. Nobody needs a $300 purse. Hell, nobody needs a purse.

I totally agree! I hate the duck! Their hearts are cute though, I don't understand why they don't just use the heart on all the Disney bags. Or ANYTHING other than that ugly duck. It doesn't make sense on any of the Disney bags.
