I've had it with tossing and turning and I'm ready to take the plunge and get a new mattress. It's time. DH and I both like a different firmness in mattresses and I'm leaning towards getting a sleep number bed - probably the 7000 model. DH and I checked out the beds today and it was so comfortable. I also like being able to change the setting depending on what part of my body aches today. :lmao: Anyone own one of these mattresses for awhile - and can tell me if it's really worth the $$$$? Did you buy the accessories such as the mattress pad cover, sheets and pillows when you got the bed?

I have had mine for about 20 months or so as I paid it off with the free0% for 18 months a few months ago.

I'm sitting in it right now set on 40 and drop it down to 25 when sleeping. I have RLS and this is the only thing that has worked for me.

I truely believe that it's the best money I have spent and DW likes it as well.We did the frame and matteress only and use our Mickey sheets and stuff with them.

We have the 5000 Queen dual chamber

We love, love, LOVE our Sleep Number bed....:) We've had it for 5 years. I do change my settings on occasion. We opted for the mattress pad, pillow-top and wireless remote. I never thought of sheets. Are their sheets designed especially for the SLB?

We have a waterproof cover over the mattress cover, so I haven't had issues with allergens in the mattress. If I ever do, I'll just remove the cover and get it cleaned. The platform is easy to keep clean....wipe down the slats and I'm done.

Many Radisson hotels have them and you want to invest in a night at a hotel to try it out. DH travels a lot and was recently at a Radisson with the S# beds. He HATED it! He said that 100 was like a board and as he turned it down, he basically just sank into the bed. He came home with a backache--and I'm the one with back trouble.

I always thought our next bed we would get a S#, but after trying it, DH says NO WAY!

Good luck!

I've had the pillowtop sleep number bed for three years. My only problem was a dip that developed in the middle of the bed where the two air bladders meet. There is a little piece of foam that runs down the middle, but it sinks down very easy. I also found the pad in the pillowtop just flattened out in the middle.

I finally bought a memory foam insert to replace the foam pad that came with the bed and it has been great. No more dip!

I don't know if they still have it, but they had a 30 night free trial. If you don't like it after 30 night's sleep, you can return it for a full refund.

DH and I have one and our youngest DD has one. We've had both of them for about 6 years and really like them. Our youngest DD had cerebral palsy and had seldom slept a night thru before getting the Select Comfort mattress - that meant I had to get up and help her turn. Now, she seldom wakes up at night, so we're all happy.

We bought a sleep number 3 years ago and love it. It's the 5000 I think. Its great. I would buy a mattress cover, its amazing how just your body oils stain the bed over time, not to mention any other body fluids that might find their way to the $3000 plus investment you are sleeping on.:rotfl:

Anyway, you will love it and sleep a whole lot better. :goodvibes

We bought the sleep # 7000 a few months ago and we love it. We did not buy any other items from the store but Used what we already had as far as mattress pad and sheets go. They recommened you sleep at the same nunber for several nights at first it sometimes takes a little getting use to, to find your "perfect #" They do offer a 30 day money back offer.

Put me down as another satisfied customer of Select Comfort. We started with a queen 5000, then moved up to king 7000 and love them both. (I like the king a little more because of the pillow top.)

I have one, too. I can't remember which model number it is, maybe the 6000? Queen size with the pillow top with the wired remotes (that way you always know where they are!). I want to say it was ~$1700.

Love it, by the way!

I'll chime in w/ the same. I love my Mom's. She lets DH, and I sleep on hers when we visit. It is awsome. She has had it for 5 years.

We have one and  it. If you are sure you want one, call the toll free # and ask about refurb beds or outlet items. You will save a TON of $. The drawback is, you don't get the free financing option or 30 night sleep guarantee. The $ you save outweighs both of those.

LOVE mine. I've had it for about 6 years and it is just great. I really like being able to adjust the firmness as needed.

I"m the only person on earth who bought one, hated it, and returned it. I just found it to be very uncomfortable. It seemed fine in the store but when I got home, I could not get used to it.

Exactly! Seemed fine in the store. Totally different at home. You were smart to send yours back. Wish I would have! I HATE it! DH likes it though.:confused3

We love ours too. We've had it almost 5 years. I think it is the 5000 model, but not completely sure. It is a king with pillow top and wired controls. We did buy the mattress cover from them, but nothing else. We've had no problems finding sheets that fit.

The one minor issue is that it is obvious where one air bladder ends and the other begins. That is probably because I have my side set on 40 and DH has his set on 75--but there is an obvious drop between the 2. :rotfl:

We would buy another in a heart beat. I will say that when we bought it, DH adapted to it right away, immediately found the right sleep number for him, and had a great night sleep. I took about 5 or 6 nights before I really had it set the most confortably. Once I found the right setting, it's been perfect.

Thanks everyone for your reviews. DH and I are going to take the plunge and buy this bed. We really do need a bed where we can adjust the firmness individually.

So, it sounds like regular sheets work fine on the sleep number bed. Is that correct? The salesperson made it sound like people have issues with their regular sheets not working on a sleep number bed. Of course, this is coming from a salesperson so I've got my doubts.

we bought ours like 10 years ago-before anyone had heard of them-still love it-DH even considered having a twin sized shipped to him in Iraq-thats how much he loves it-the only issue i have ever had with it is he is a very snuggly sleeper-i get my side set where i want it-then he snuggles up and makes the bed to hard-other than that its awesome-and i have always used regular sheets-when we got ours there werent stores and specail sheets and pillows-lol-you ordered it and they shipped it.

We have had one for a long time now and love it. It's particularly nice right now while being pregnant. I don't sleep well as it is, and it so helps to adjust :teeth:

As for sheets, don't listen to them ;) As long as you get deep pocketed sheets you will be fine. My favorite set of sheets we use in rotation came from Target. It's mostly just the taller mattress that causes the need for deeper sides on the sheets. However with all teh plush tops on mattresses now, these deep pocketed sheets are pretty much the norm now.

Just one more chiming in that we love ours! Well, dh loves it, I'm fine with it. I don't sleep any better or worse than I did on our regular mattress. But maybe it's just because that mattress was fine for me, but not for dh. :rotfl: We do use very different numbers, so that could be it. We use all of our own pillows and sheets, and got nothing but the frame, mattress and pillow-top from them. I'm sure we will have ours for years to come.
