After a few months lurking I’ve decided to start this planning journal.

Even though I don't have a for sure date yet I've decided to start this PJ just to have a place to put my thoughts somewhere; also to not drive my mom and fiancé crazy with my wedding ramblings. :goodvibes

We’re hoping to have the wedding in 2013 but it might be pushed to 2014 but I really want it to be in 2013. There is still some humming and ahhing on whether to do an escape or wishes event.

Well let’s see my name is Katie and I’m 25. My fiancé is Stephen and he’s 26. We’ve been dating for a couple years. We met online and did the friend thing for 4 years before we started dating. We dated for a year and a little bit after our 1 year anniversary he proposed.

We been doing the long distance the whole time and visiting each other whenever possible. I lived in Canada and him in the US while we were only 6 hours apart but some days it felt much more then that.

It certainly wasn’t easy but I knew it was worth it; were actually in the process of going through the joys of immigration as well. For the record it is not nearly as much fun as wedding planning. :sad2:

We had talked about getting married and I had shown him rings that I had liked so I knew it was coming but was still surprised.

We had gone away on our first vacation together for our anniversary and we went to Niagara Falls. My fiancé had planned to propose while we were there but things did not end up going to his plan. He ended up making several plans on how to propose to me and I managed to foil almost every one of his plans somehow.

His first plan was to propose during sun rise. However when he went over to wake me I went ‘meh I’m tired’ and rolled over and went back to asleep.

Later on we went on the Ferris wheel and he debated on asking me when we were at the top. However it was July and very hot and we were sweating like crazy. He decided that just maybe I didn’t want to be proposed right then.

He took a break for a bit probably to think of some other plans. Our trip ended and we parted ways and he took the long bus ride home.

He came back the week of my birthday. After telling me he wasn’t and he arranged it through my mom. I was completely surprised of course and it really should have clicked that he was going to ask me but I was still unsuspecting.

We went out for my birthday dinner a couple days before my birthday. While we were waiting on our food he asked to see my phone. Which wasn’t abnormal since his was at my mom’s house since it was in airplane mode. I took my phone out of my purse and handed it to him. He looked so disappointed and I asked him ’what you don’t want to see my phone now?’ He took the phone and kept glancing over at my purse. I thought it was odd but shrugged it off. I had arranged a ride to pick us up and while we were waiting he kept tugging at my purse. I just stared at him like he was crazy and he stopped and we headed home.

The night of my birthday we were just relaxing and hanging out when he asked me. Sure it wasn’t carefully planned and wouldn’t be considered super romantic but I thought it was perfect. He was so nervous that the ring box fell out of his hand; I managed to catch it and said yes.

I remember briefly asking if he was really sure and he replied ‘of course even though you managed to almost foil all my fancy proposal plans’.

As for his weird antics at the restaurant, the ring box was in my purse the whole time. He thought I would see it when I got my phone out of my purse.

Before deciding on a Disney wedding we went through a couple different venues. The hardest decision was deciding on having the wedding in Canada or the USA. At first we decided on Canada mainly because my mom was paying for a large portion of the wedding and thought it was only fair that she get a say in the decision.

I remember stumbling upon Disney wedding site and my first thought was this is so out of my budget. I glanced at the prices and was pleasantly surprised. We could definitely swing this. I just had to convince my fiancé that we could.

We had decided when we first got engaged that we wanted a small wedding. We had agreed on 50-60 people. This is considered fairly small wedding from where I live. A destination wedding might even let us make that a bit smaller.

I show my fiancé some pictures and show him the prices and he was on aboard however he said we only do it if my mom agreed. I asked her and she agreed as well. Thinking it be the perfect way to incorporated my father (passed away when I was 17) and would add more memories at Disney World (I went at least once a year while growing up).

So when I first started planning the colours I had picked were eggplant, lilac, and grey/silver. However pininterest has given me other ideas and one might argue that is not a good thing.

I'm debating doing a red/purple with touches of black and white instead. DF loves red so that is not an issue. Finding the right shade of red is!

I suppose I was one of those girls that had an extremely hard time finding a dress. A lot of the dresses I tried on were either terrible, nice, or somewhere in between.

Throughout my search I went to many different bridal salons and the service I received varied a lot. However I suppose my mom was getting tired of going to bridal salons in the end. :rotfl:

I ended up going to an Alfred Angelo signature store and getting paired with an amazing consultant.

There was a couple different gowns I tried on and it definitely helped that they had a large variety of sizes.

There was a couple gowns that caught my eye and eventually narrowed it down to 2 and then 1.

The bridesmaids will be wearing this dress. It's an Alfred Angelo one but from their regular line. I looked at their Disney Bridesmaids line but a lot of them did not look very flattering on some of the larger sizes. I have 5 bridesmaids and a mix of sizes; I want all my girls to look great and feel comfortable.

This is the idea of what the groomsmen will be wearing. Though they will be wearing just plain suits not tuxes but maybe a darker grey colour I'm not sure yet.
