Segway

Hi
The Segway tour is so much fun! Your feet and legs do get tired from standing in the same place though. But I would definitely do this again. I wanted my DH to do this with me in Dec., but he has a bad back and probably couldn't stand that long. I went with my girlfriend and she had a hard time with it in the beginning, but ended up being the most improved rider.

We want to give the tour as a gift to DH's parents for Christmas, as we're going in January and this is something they're very excited to try. I'm feeling hesitant about it because FIL is pooh size and am not sure how close to the recommended weight limit he is, and I feel weird about asking. I don't want them to get there and find out he's too big. I have a hard time guessing because he's on the shorter side. :(

DH and I did the segway tour last October. It exceeded our expectations. Our CMs were fantastic and explained so much of the history for each pavilion. Our group was a lot of fun, so much fun that the CMs lost track of time and we were almost 25 minutes late. WS had already opened and it was quite tricky going around the families that chose to run across our paths. You almost feel like a rockstar as everyone ooohs and ahhhs as you ride by!

I saw people on segways when we were last in WDW.

Can I ask how much the 2 hour one costs please?

$85 per person. Like all tours you have to prepay and that's what I was charged per person for 3 people in December of this year. (This was what I was charged on my card, so maybe it includes taxes?)

Can't wait!

Is balancing OK on the Segways? I would hate to be the one falling off all the time! I can stand upright (:rotfl: ), so that isn't a problem, just when I have to balance on something!!

I have the same problem. It usually is at it's worst late on Friday night.:rotfl:

Does anyone else immediately think of Wierd Al when they hear the word Segway?:3dglasses

I'm so glad to read all the great reviews. I have this tour booked for our November trip. DH and DD picked it. She just turned 16 so we have a few tours that we want to do and are planning to try to do one per trip. The Segway tour was their top pick.

We did it in October 2005! It was the highlight of the trip! Everyone loved it! I was the most leery of it going in, and I still had a fabulous time! I am such a clutz and I actually ran into one the CM Trainers while we were practicing! He just laughed it off and said "I would rather you hit me in here than someone out in the World Showcase!" Go for it!

Our total for the tour this December is $72.25 including tax. That's with the discount (Disney VISA, Annual Pass, AAA).

We have done this twice and it has been the highlight of both trips. Yes, your feet do get tired and my ankles started to get tingley - once you are ok with the balancing thing I would just lift up one foot a bit and rotate it around and this helped.

Make sure to ask for discount - we used AAA. We did the one in Epcot on July 4th and we got the discount - they were not offering the discount for the one at FW (althought this tour is less expensive) as it was still in it's testing phase. We have done the one in Epcot twice - we had reservations for the one in FW also but cancelled it because I thought it would be much nicer the go around Epcot before it opens then ride the trails in FW. If we do it again though we would try the one in FW - my boyfriends son who is 18 would like to try the offroad one with the bigger tires on the Segway.

The last time I was in Epcot I saw people doing this and it looked like so much fun that I made sure to sign up for it this trip. I can't wait.

Has anyone made a video or taken pictures of the Segway Tour at Fort Wilderness?

We do, we do :yay:

DH and I are signed up for the Segway tour in Dec. and we are so singing, "you see me rolling on my Segway..." :lmao:

Wow, that video was cool. How did you ever get all that coverage> We could not use our video camera while we were riding the Segway - just in Italy when we were on solid ground.

Linda

That could be - I love the way they speeded it up. If only you could go that fast on the Segways.
