Segway Tour ROCKS!

What's so interesting about the tour? What do you get to see? I've never done any of the tours. I'm trying to do some things on our trip next month that we haven't done before.

Minimum Age: Guests must be at least 16 years old and weigh 250 lbs or less. The signature of a parent or legal guardian is required for participants under 18 years of age.

Cost $80 per person. (There is a discount for AP holders). I think you can make reservations a year in advance.

What is so interesting???
For me, a combination of things. You get to learn how to ride the Segway- the WDW website describes it as getting to be 'part of the personal transportation revolution'. Also, experiencing World Showcase before hours and having it all to ourselves (for the most part). The CM also gives a bit of back ground info on the countries which I appreciated too. Just good fun too!

The purpose of this tour is for you to get an opportunity to learn to ride a Segway and then spend an hour rolling around the World Showcase putting the Segway through its paces. There are some other perks, as mentioned above you get to travel around the WS before it's officially open for the day and the CMs taking you around will provide some info, but the real purpose of the tour is that you get to spend two hours on a Segway.

I emphasize that because when I did this last May, there was a woman in our tour group who was disappointed in the tour. At the end she said something like "Yeah, OK so I got to ride a Segway. I thought this was going to be a tour of the World Showcase." She said she was bored after 15 minutes.

Now personally I've been intrigued about the Segway since it was first announced. I was very curious to get on one to experience for myself how well all of its electronics really worked to move you forward, backward, change your speed and just in general to keep you upright! It is one very cool piece of technology! The thrill of learning to ride it was very similar to the feeling I had when I rode a 2-wheeled bicycle for the first time (i.e., when my dad took off my training wheels and I learned to balance my bike on my own). Most people report that they couldn't stop smiling the whole time they were on the Segway because it's such a blast.

So, this tour isn't about what you see, it's about what you get to do!

We are scheduled for the 8:30 tour on May 17th and can't wait!

I also wanted to add - AAA members also get a discount too - it is the same amount at the AP discount - 15% I believe. When you call to make your reservation, let them know you are a AAA member and you'll get the discount. Just don't forget to bring your membership card along with you the day of your tour for proof.

Thanks, CampingGal! Phew! $80 ... I expect it's worth it, though.

And thanks DisneyGoddess for the AAA discount info.

It is expensive, but it was the highlight of our trip last year. I really can't think of a better place to learn to ride a Segway than Epcot's WS.

My husband, son and I did the Segway Tour in February. We took the 9:30 a.m. tour and there people coming into the World Showcase at the end of our tour. They were not a problem and most people were quite intrigued with us. We were quite popular.

It was the highlight of our trip. We paid $68 per person with our AAA discount. We plan to do this again on our next trip to WDW.

I can highly recommend :Pinkbounc

Is the DVC discount the same? And I assume you must also have a valid admission ticket to Epcot.

I have a dilemma. I was going to WDW solo so I planned on doing one or two of these (the Scuba Diving one looked fun too). But now I have my DD and my sister and I'd feel guilty doing any of this alone yet I can 't afford to treat them....hmmmm, decisions, decisions!

If DVC is the same discount (or my sis has a AAA card) I think I'd chose the Segway Tour first, just because it is a chance to do something different !

I'll be doing the 8:30am tour the day after you on May 18th. Can't wait! It is $68.00 with the AP discount too.

I highly recommend it.
