We just got back from Disney (9/19 thru 9/23) and we did the Segway tour while there...

If anyone is even remotely considering it I just want to say DO IT!!!

We had a great time and even though I was a bit apprehensive about it at first, within five minutes, I was zipping around and couldn't wait to get outside!

Seeing the World Showcase before it even opened was really cool!

This was one of the highlights of our visit!!!

Ya, I definitely agree! We did it in March of 2003, when it was still new, and it was so much fun. At first it does look a little tricky, but within minutes you are zipping around. How it works its truly incredible, glad you had such a good time!

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Sounds like a lot of fun. I am planning on booking that for DH for our Feb trip and giving it to him as a Christmas gift. Speaking of which does anyone know if I call to book the tour if they will send me a brochure or something so I can wrap it up as a gift? Thanks.

We did the Segway tour on 9/16. I had been really, really looking forward to it, and I wasn't disappointed in the least. Well, that's not true. I was disappointed when we had to return the Segways to the training room!

Anyway, I remember when the Segway was unveiled; there was all kinds of hype. The inventor (whose name escapes me at the moment) said that you only had to think "Forward," and the Segway would go forward; "Stop," and it would stop. "Psssh! Yeah, right!" I thought. But after the first five minutes of wobbling around on it, I found out that it is, indeed, true! Your body makes such subtle adjustments that you're not fully aware of, and that's what the Segway takes its direction from. It's amazing! I wanted to go again a couple of days later, but BF didn't feel like shelling out the dough again. :guilty: The Segways were definitely the highlight of our trip.

As for obtaining a brochure, I didn't receive one when I booked, but I know they do have brochures and don't see why they couldn't mail you one if you requested.

We have a tour booked for Dec. 1 and I'm so excited to get to try this. I just hope I don't wind up being a Segway klutz.

I don't know if being a "Segway klutz" is even possible...with all the gyroscopes in those things, it's practically impossible to mess up...although I will share a "secret"...my DH got so excited near the end of the tour that he crashed into a curb and fell off the thing!!! He was fine (perhaps a little embarrassed) but that was the only mishap of the tour!

I hope I don't mess up but, if I do, I guess I'll survive! :teeth: Maybe I'll get a Magic Moment certificate for doofusness! :rotfl:

I'm glad you DH was okay after that fall...ouch!

Which day did you do it? I think my dad did it on the 19th...Monday, so you might have been in there together! He loved it too!

We arrived on Monday so we couldn't have been in the same tour. :)

We did the tour on Thursday the 22nd.

Glad you had a great time. Me and my DS really wanted to do this on our next trip but he is only 13 so I guess we will have to wait a few more years. :(

Don't worry about it. I am definitely not known for my sense of balance, so I was a teensy bit nervous about being able to balance on the Segway. I did fine though. Just trust the Segway: it does all the balancing for you. Really, you just have to remember to stand up straight and relax. Plus, the CMs are great at making sure you're doing all right. Our CMs were Em and Lamont. Lamont did end up having to catch one woman, but I think she had kind of freaked out and tried to jump off the Segway ... she just didn't trust the whole process and it made her very tense.

Truly, you'll do fine and have a blast! :goodvibes

Thank You so much for your review. I have a tour planned for our October trip, and it is (almost) what I am looking forward to most. I too am skeptical, I feel like I am normally a "klutz" Hopefully the Segway is smarter than I am!!!'

Where can you book this? What is the cost and what exactly does the tour entail? DH might want to check it out! Thanks!

11/16 for us. :yo-yo:

I called (407) 939-8687. It was about $80 per person.

The cost is $80 per person but there are discounts for AAA and AP holders (I think) and one other discount...I'm sure someone else can clarify that...it's a $15 discount...even paying full price is TOTALLY worth it!!!

I'm sure you can call the regular ADR number and get more info and make reservations, but we booked it through our concierge...

The tour itself lasts about 2 hours. They only do 2 tours a day with 10 people in each tour...they fill up quick so you want to book early!

We did the 8:30 tour. The tours are at Epcot and the first 30-45 minutes they "train" you on the Segway, then they take you out to World Showcase and take you around there. The first tour is over before World Showcase is even open!!! It is very cool...I have yet to hear someone say they didn't enjoy it or think it was worth every penny! :)

We have the tour booked on 12/9 and I can't wait. Do they allow you to take pictues while in the WS or on the segways while you are in the tour? I would love to get some of the pavillions without a ton of strangers in all my photos.

As you can see below, DW & I agree with you. We already have another Segway tour booked for July '06.
