I was thinking on booking this for my DH and Dad for their birthdays :goodvibes

My Dad will be 65 but is active - can any old fool drive a Segway? He does get a bit worked up about trying new things :goodvibes

and if I book the early slots will the rest of us get access to the park at the same time or will we have to wait at the gate. I would like to take some photos and I am sure the kids would love to wave them on their merry way

Thanks in advance

I did this with my DD25 in October. I really didn't want to do it (I am very dis-coordinated but Sophie was sooo keen I couldn't say no!) and was horribly nervous. BUT once I'd mastered getting on/off the Segway, I absolutely loved it and can't wait to have another go over more rugged terrain at Wilderness Lodge in May... :goodvibes

I'd say your Dad will be fine and it really is a fantastic feeling! :thumbsup2

However I don't think the rest of your party would have access to EPCOT prior to rope drop if your name isn't on the list - they check you off at the gateway. However, they would get chance to take photos of each other once in the World Showcase...

This is me and my daughter... :cloud9:

We have just booked this for a party of 6 in July. There was nothing mentioned about an age limit, only weight. We are booked in for the later one at 9.30 so that the rest of the group can get into Epcot.

We didn't do the tour (want to next time) we did the experience.
The only restrictions were age (no very young children) and weight.
Go for it and let us know how it was.

As you say the age limit is 16 years and there is a weight limit but most able bodied adults should be fine with it.

We didn't do the tour, just a couple of minutes on the taster experience at Innovations but my dad aged 70 manged on a Segway and he's had a hip replacement!
Go for it! They'll have a fab time!

We did the tour as DD turned 16. She is very uncoordinated, and turned out to the be the best of our group. It is a wonderful experience. There were a couple of seniors in our group, and although they were a little hesitant at first, they really enjoyed themselves and said they would do it again. We also got a special pin at the end of the xperience which was an unexpected bonus.

We've booked this for our trip this year, myself, DH & DS aged 16. DS has been desperate to do this for ages, but not been old enough.

We are really looking forward to it, and the only thing mentioned when we booked was the minimum age and maximum weight.

Thanks for all your replies - will go and get it booked :)

This old fool did the tour and thoroughly enjoyed it, can't wait to do it again and would like to try the Wilderness Lodge one too.

I didn't think I would get the hang of turning to begin with (and neither did the guide he told me afterwards:rotfl:) but somehow it just clicked and I found it no bother after that.

We went for an early slot as I really wanted to spend the time in the World without other people and that was the best bit for me, buzzing about watching the flowers being watered and shops opening up.

you make it sound like 65 is old or something..
my mom is 80 and travels around the world several times each year...
rides test track when she's at WDW...
scuba dives when she visits us....
65 is practically nursery school age in comparison to my mom...

and now that i think about it, in the group i manage, 3 of my top employees are 65 (just turned 65 this year)....they outperform everyone else on the team and can hit any deadline i toss at them (including multiple all-nighters)...
65 is not old.....

I'm sure he'll love the Segway tour. The instructors are very patient with everyone as some find it harder than others to master the basics.

The rest of your party won't be allowed into the park early, just those on the tour. The first time DH and DD did the Segway tour and DS and I did the Behind The Seeds Tour in the Land which was fun and very informative and does allow children, we were able to grab some Fastpasses for Soarin before we met the others after their tour so the timing worked very well.
