I have read one article about this tour that sounded great, but would really like to hear from more people that have done this. Am thinking about surprising dh with this on our upcoming trip , providing I can get a ressie- as an early BD present to him and figure I'll stay back at the hotel and keep the kids busy for a while. We will head over to EPCOT to meet up with him a little later. I know that he thinks segways are facinating and would relish the opportunity to try one. I'd sure like to give him the chance to.

I just took this tour and it was so much fun we are planning on doing it again. I highly recommend it. Book as soon as possible though as our guides told us it gets booked up quckly since they only allow 10 people per session.

Segway tour on May 2nd... awesome, we loved it so much! the two CM's were wonderful. It was an absolute highlight --so much fun to ride that thing.
Two people fell off while manuvering through the gardens at EPCOT. They were good sports about it and got right back on but let's just say wearing the helmets prevented alot of hurt. One poor girl quit halfway through...she counldn't figure out how to stop! Worth every penny! (with VISA discount)

I took the Segway tour on May 3rd, and it got partially rained out. We did get instruction on the use of the Segways and we spent a good hour riding them indoors, but we couldn't go to the World Showcase because of the weather. They refunded half the money for the tour.

We also got special pins for the Segway tour, which are way cool. They have the tour logo with a sliding guy on a Segway. Very cool.

That is soooo sad because the trip through World Showcase before opening was priceless. It was hilarious to watch people watching the ten of us "ducks in a row" and acting like WE were an attraction! We got the pins too-love them. I think you should have gotten more than half the $ back.

I was actually going to write to Disney about that. They didn't even give us the option of cancelling the trip because of the rain, and they didn't cancel the outdoor portion until right before we would have gone outside. I had the Disney Visa discount, so it cost me $34 to get instruction and ride on the thing for about 40 minutes.

The pins were really cool. They said that they only got them about a week or two ago, and that pin traders are salivating over them. LOL

Anyone know what days they run the Segway tours? - and what number to call to book or ask questions? - this looks awesome!!

I believe they run the segway tours seven days a week. Call 407-wdw-tour for ressies and info.

I took the Segway tour in March and I'm booked to take it again in June. It was fantastic! I can't wait to get my pin, I was sad not to get one last time. I cherish my Keys To The Kingdom pin and the Segway pin will be just as cherished! Be sure to inquire about discounts that might be available.

stacilee- Yeah, your husband will love it! My wife and I took the tour on May 4th. I wasn't sure if she would like it... She LOVED it!

We entered EPCOT through the back entrance from BCV. They didn't have a list of Segway riders like they do for the Princess Breakfast, but they allowed us through.

The group met at the Guest Services right by Space Ship Earth- NOT Guest Services outside the turnstiles as we were directed by the front desk at BCV...

As the experience begins, you go into a small A/V room and watch a short video graphic on the Segway. They give you your helmets to wear the entire time. If you have an extra large head, don't be afraid to ask for something bigger- they have them. You learn how they work, how to get on, to turn, to get off, and how start and stop them. They constantly emphasize safety. Then you go into an adjacent area of the Innoventions hall. The Segways are lined up against the wall and each person takes one and receives personal attention as you familiarize yourself with the controls by driving through a small course of little traffic cones.

Then it's off to the outside through the door closest to the land. If you and the kids were there at 5 of 10, you could see your husband come out for a short uphill/downhill test in the art garden, and then for a bathroom break. Wait by the roped off music theater area outside, where the school kids sing.

Then it's off to the World! We rode a little path through the Chinese gardens to test our handling skills. Its kinda like "follow-the-leader"- then through the German pavilion and a slalom course through the marble columns of Italy. Then we stopped in front of Italy for another break/photo op. Your tour guides are happy to take pics of you or the entire group with your camera. You can also take this chance to see what the Segway will do... We drove through the narrow garden paths of the American pavilion, through Japan, and the "backstreets" of Morocco!

If you get back to the bridge at about 10:50, you'll probably get to see your husband in the Segway parade back to Innoventions.

The Segways come equipped with a large storage bin that will easily accomadate cameras, or small backpacks.

I think the tour would be a great surprise gift and probably the highlight of his trip!

I've booked dh and I for our Oct. trip and am soooooo excited about it!! I booked it as a surprise for DH and he's really looking forward to it. :bounce:

How far in advance can you book, and how much is it? What time does it begin? Would like to book one for my husband's birthday in December!

Thank you, everyone for your quick and encouraging replies! Sounds perfect for him! I will be happy to herd the kids so he can experience this. If I can slip away for a few minutes this morning I will try to call and book it. I may have to lock myself in the bathroom to do it though since it is Mother's Day and they are all hovering around like bumblebees.
Since we are staying concierge at AKL this time perhaps I could call and ask them to help with this? I hope it's not too late!

I booked this back in Feb for July 7th!! I'll be "Segwaying" on my 50th!!!!!!

I hid in our bedroom after church today and called to book the tour for my DH! Had a great CM named Reginald who helped me choose a day.
In case anyone else is going to be in the world the last part of June and the first part of July, he said there still are openings. None though on June 30th and the Fourth of July.

After the AP discount of 15% the cost was a very reasonable $68. The CM reminded me that he must have his AP, photo ID, and comfirmation # with him that morning when he checks in.

I know that my husband is just going to LOVE IT. He is facinated by segways and has a good sense of balance; loves to ski. I'll bet this will be the highlight of this trip for him especially since EPCOT is his favorite park! I also mentioned to the CM that this was to be an early BD present for him. Just in case that mattered.
Thanks again to everyone, I am really enjoying reading about your experiences!

We have ressies for June 5th !!!! Can't wait to actually tool around on a Segway. They have a teaser course at Innoventions in Disneyland and we were able to learn the basics in our 10 minute ride. This is going to be sooooo much more fun :)

Timmbco, I was the woman that fell badly our your tour. Thank God for helmets. Were you the guy in front of me that helped me up when I took that nasty fall? Or were you the guy behind my DH (the guy with the patch on his eye) Who kept me laughing and eased my pain. Either way thanks bunches.

And if you were not one of those two guys, thanks for not making me feel bad either during the trip or on here on the board.

Its was cool, wasn't it? I would highly recommend it, just watch your wheel base width.
::yes::
