I am so excited to learn about the Segway Experience at Epcot ! I would love to try this during my October visit.

Where exactly does the "training" take place at Epcot ?

To those of you who have tried this already , on a scale of one to ten (with ten being the HARDEST), how would you rate learning to comfortably drive and navigate a Segway ?

Also, is this experience available DAILY ?

What particular HOURS ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Did you know that there are 2 Segway programs offered?

Simply Segway Experience - 1hr, mostly just indoor training in a closed off room in one of the innoventions buildings. Price - $45, discounts for AP, Disney Visa and DVC and maybe AAA too. Offered every day except Tuesday.

Around the World on a Segway - 2hrs, 1hr for training, 2nd hour is spent going round the world showcase before it opens to the public. Price - $80, again discount offered as above. I paid $68 with AP discount. Offered daily, I think!

To book, called 407 WDW TOUR (407 939 8687)

I did the around the world tour last year and it was the BIGGEST fun! I found them easy to ride so I'd give the rating 2. Not a 1 because I had trouble in the training with navigating the segway up a kerb as I found it very heavy. I'm very small so I'll use that as an excuse :rotfl:.

Hope this helps.

I did the 'round the WS Segway tour back in April. It was about a 2 on the learning scale. Once you get use to the fact it is not going to tip over, it is a blast. Great way to see WS before it opens. Doing it again in October with family.

There are two sessions. 8:30(?) and 9:30AM. First hour is learning how to ride and Segway safety. Second hour is riding around WS. Not only is a chance to ride, but you pick up WS trivia from the Guides and there is a photostop. The Guides are great. They point out the interesting fact, points of interest and trivia around WS. Do it!

I thought getting off of it was the hardest...other then that - easy peasey!

Like great fun going to have to give it a look for December trip. :sunny: :goodvibes :wizard:

Because I am lame (in the psychological, not the physical sense), I would rate the difficulty around a 3-4. The hardest part for me was getting on, as I had a hard time coordinating the holding-on-to-the-handle-without-putting-force-on-it-while-stepping-up thing. Basically, you have to step onto it as if you were stepping onto a staircase without holding onto anything..while holding onto the handle so it doesn't fall on the ground. If you start putting weight or pressure on it, it'll start thinking you want to go forward/backward, and then there's some awkward chasing of the segway.

Even I managed to master it by the end of the 1-hour class though, so no one else should worry. It was great fun, and I'd certainly do it again.

I did the Segway tour this past May and had a blast. I would rate it as a 2 also for difficulty in learning. If you can balance it and get on it, the rest is no problem. They will tell you at the beginning that they reserve the right to cancel the tour for anyone they feel is having too much difficulty. We had one older lady in our group they had their doubts about. Not so much because she had trouble learning to ride it, but because she was already complaining about being tired before we ever left the classroom. Sure enough once we got out into world showcase the instructor that rode behind everyone had to stay even further behind and stopped a couple of times so the lady could get off and stretch her feet. The other instructor at one point said they had been a little concerned about her and now didn't know if she was going to be able to finish. She did, but we had to take an extra stop in Canada to allow her to get off a few minutes as her legs were really cramping on her. She also had difficulty riding under a tree limb in China and jumped off her Segway. Both she and the Segway were fine though. When you go under an obstacle you have to bend you knees to lower yourself without either turning the handle on the Segway or leaning your toes forward or back. She apparently turned the handle and the Segway started turning in a circle and she panicked.
