We just got home this evening from a fantastic stay at OKW on rented points! We had absolutely no problems with the segmenting. I simply had to go to the front desk and let them cut us new keys on the "check-out" morning of our dining plan segment. We had no problems using the remaining credits for meals or snacks, and we didn't need to change rooms. I was a bit concerned from reading others' experiences, but I had high hopes that OKW would have worked out any kinks - and they apparently have.
We had chosen to segment our stay, in order to do the Deluxe Dining Plan and hit our favorite signature restaurants at about a 30% savings overall.
What we spent for the DXDP would have only paid for our meals at Flying Fish and Artist Point and the resort mugs, were we paying OOP. We also got 4 additional adult breakfasts and dinners at Boma, along with 8 snacks for the $$ we paid for the deluxe dining plan for two nights. So, we found it to be a great deal for our family! :thumbsup2

Awesome! We leave in 3 weeks with a week's stay at VWL and a week at OKW with different dining plans. It's good to hear someone had an easy time with it!

Thank you for sharing! We are thinking of trying this on our next trip

Great. We have a segmented trip in a few weeks (love saying that!!!) and hope it goes well like yours!!!

Hi dandave,
That is great information and thanks for sharing. Glad to hear everything went smoothly and that you had a great trip. :thumbsup2

I also want to say that we are happy to hear a good report. Glad they got the kinks worked out and your segmented stay went off well.

Outlook is good then. Thanks for the note to let us know. I hope Disney's programming group continues to work the kinks out as I'm sure they're not all gone ;)

What exactly is a segmented stay??

People staying on DVC points can currently break up, or segment, their reservations into groups of days with and without the DDP or change between the different levels of DDP.

Up to this point many folk have found the transition days on/off of the DDP to be anxiety producing and time consuming as their room keys may not work for the DDP, charging privileges, or even for their room door. One family here went through something like 48 room keys on one stay (that's a lot of time at the front desk!)

I just saw your post and I'm glad it all worked out just fine. I meant to ask you how things went in my e-mail but I forgot:laughing:Paul

Thanks everyone! :goodvibes

Hi Paul! Yes, everything went unbelievably smoothly with the segmenting. Even the room was great - first floor, on the end, Bldg 19, right beside the bus stop and quiet pool! We figured you must have pulled some Disney strings! LOL! Thanks again!!! :thumbsup2
