For those of you that have had some issues with your dining plan credits and room keys with a segmented reservation, did the problems come on the first day of the reservation or just the 2nd.

We are adding the quick service plan to our first of two nights at BWV and then adding the DxDDP for the 1st of our 3 nights at BLT.

So each night we have a plan will be the first "check in" date for the segmented reservation.

Going with family and my teen daughters so want to know what to expect for that 2nd day when the credits are still good until midnight.

Thanks!

In may we stayed at BLT for 3 nights with just the first night on the deluxe dining plan when I checked in they told me I would have to come to the front desk the next morning to get new room keys.....since I wanted to pay cash for our room charges at the end of the night I stopped by the front desk that night to do so.....they then told me I didn't have to return the next morning and our room keys would be good for our entire stay. They were and we had no problems using our remaining dining credits that day as well. Not sure if some resorts handle the segmented stays better than others. :confused3

We split our current stay into 3 segments with the DDDP in segment 2. For some reason our credits good until midnight of our check out day, segment 2, were transfered to segment 3 but they still expired at midnight segment 2. Management here at SSR doesn't know why or how to fix it. I will go to the Carriage House again today to review our account.

FYI the segmented reservations also messes up your room cleaning schedule.

Thanks Bill. Since we are only 2 nights at one and 3 nights at the other, we are not eligible for the cleaning for either stay so that probably won't affect us--unless they show up to clean and then I will tell them that we aren't eligible.

Great! I just want to plan ahead for the girls should something happen. The biggest one I am concerned about is our meal at GF the 2nd day of the DxDDP. But, we will all be together for that one so I will be there to handle it if there is an issue with the credits. And, we should know that by that point since we will have tried to use a meal credit earlier.

The only problem we had recently was that when we checked in the first night we weren't on the dining plan, so our room keys did not list a dining plan on them. The next day, we did not have to get new keys, which was nice, but that also meant that on the day we had the dining plan, it didn't state that on our room keys. So on our second day when we had the DxDDP and we tried to use our first credit, our waiter didn't know that (even though we told them at the reservation desk) and he charged us for our meal. When he realized we were on the DxDDP, he corrected it and charged us the credit. For the 2 future meals (later that same day and the next day), we made sure to tell the waiter right off that even though it didn't state it on our room keys that we WERE on the DxDDP.

We had two segmented dining reservations with the DDP for the first 2 nights of each segment (BWV and BLT). We had no issues what so ever with those - with the exception of not getting our trash and towel service at BWV, but we were leaving the next day anyway. Our keys were good for our whole stay, even after the credits expired. On both reservations, our DDP credits were good until midnight the next day.

We had 3 segments at KV, with no dining plan for the first night, QS for the next 2 nights, and regular DP for the following 3 nights. We had nothing but trouble the whole stay. We had at least 7 sets of keys, had to check in and check out between each segment, KV cancelled and rebooked my stay at least 3 times, had no cards that worked for food and snacks, had 1 card that worked to share with 7 people, and they tried to check us out for good in between segments. It was awful. I did talk with member satisfaction about the whole fiasco, but all they basically said was that they were aware of problems with the segmented dining reservations, and they are working on it. They did refund me $155, which is always nice, but seeing as how I paid thousands for the dining plans, it was hardly a drop in the Disney money bucket.

For our 4-night stay at BLT, we did only one day of the dining plan--we had DxDP beginning on the second day. Even though we got new keys, mine did not work when I went to get the mugs. The CM said (after a call to the front desk which did not work) that she keyed in all the "numbers" and we were able to get the mugs.
At our first lunch that day, my key again did not work, so the waitress called the BLT and still had no luck. Then the restaurant manager got involved and finally told me that BLT said they would have to call the IT department, but that I could charge it to my room key and have it transferred later at the hotel desk.. so we tried that and it would not accept a charge to my room key. The manager felt my frustration, so she told me that the meal would be on them and did not want me to pay and even gave us a voucher for a FP for each of us and a voucher for 4 snacks.

At our evening meal, at Teppan Edo....again with no success and the language barrier... Before charging it to a CC, I tried my granddaughter's (11) card, and it took the meal credits. So from thereafter, we had to use her card.

And we never got mousekeeping...

Don't know whether to try segmented reservations on not for our November trip.

VLee.......I may be wrong but I think to get housekeeping trash and towel you need to be staying for 5 or more nights

From the MS website:

Trash & Towel Service
For stays of seven or less nights, Trash & Towel Service is provided on day four, regardless of whether you're using Member-discounted cash, Vacation Points or a combination of both.

It's 4 nights or more assuming in the same villa all under points (or points equivalent). 8 nights gets you a full cleaning and T&T. In the old days they'd to the T&T on day 4 and the full cleaning on day 8 but after quite a number of people complained (or at least pointed out) that doing the reverse made much more sense, they changed to do the full cleaning first and the T&T second.

So the credits stay on that card till mid the next day ? Im going 8/18-8/29
I wanted to do

8/18 - no plan we arrive late
8/19 - DxDDP
8/20 - no plan- use left over credits from 8/19
8/21- DxDDP
8/22-8/29 DDP

when i switch to the no plan day you are saying the credits will still be avaliable ?

And on 8/22 I will have my regular DDP credits and a leftover credit from DxDDP from 8/21-

Can I do it this way ? How so If I have to get new cards? DO I keep the old ones

Please help me understand this. This is my first DVC stay, just bought at AKL
I usually just get package and its the same for entire stay-

This will be great if it works bc it saves some $$$

Thanks

Hmmm...
We have done a split stay for the last 4 years in a row and done the split dining plan. We never had any issues, but sounds like people are starting to have probs... hope it's fixed before we go in Nov. Here's a couple important pointers.

If one card doesn't seem to work, try someone else's. PP mentioned the granddaughter's card working but not theirs... have heard about that issue before.

Several PP's seem to talk about "transferring" their DDP to their new card. We always just kept our old card and used it for meals until it didn't work, then used new card for room key.

Here's hoping we have no probs in Nov! :thumbsup2

They are supposed to be up until midnight.

Correct. I'm guessing the old creds will be on your old card and new regular DDP on your new card.

Definitely hold onto your old cards until you have used up your old credits.

We have done it 5 times now and we love it! Only drawback is as has been mentioned, it can eliminate any room service since you now have 2 smaller ressies instead of one.
Thanks

Here's a little pixiedust: to make sure it all goes well for you!

What most are having trouble with is the SEGMENTED RESERVATIONS, not the split reservation that I think you are referring to. The segmented reservation is at the same resort; however, the dining plan can be done for only part of the stay. For example, one may have the DDP plan for the first day, the DxDP for the second day, no dining plan on Day 3, and the DDP again for the fourth day. The segmented reservations are linked to keep you from having to chane rooms; however each day that the dining plan changes for you, you most likely have to go to the resort desk to check in, etc and get new keys.

There are various reports of some having success with this and others, like myself, having lots of trouble.

I am pretty sure the segmented reservations only started this past spring.

we are doing this in less than a month! I hope the issues resolve!

We are starting with 2 nights at BWV on deluxe plan for our first night. Then we move to OKW for one night of deluxe and 6 nights of regular.

I love that some of you can keep your keys and avoid the checking in/checking out that was happening.

I'll be sure to report back on our success or difficulties!!;)

ahhh... that makes sense. And you are right, that is a new option that came about not too long ago. I can see where that would be tricky.... same room, resort, different cards? Crazy!

I had QSDP for the first night of my SSR stay. I was told to come and get a new key on the second day but that the credits would still be on the old key. In my case the credits did transfer to the new key and were not still on the old key. But I would just suggest you keep both keys just in case.

In March, we did a segmented stay at the Beach Club Villas. The first night, no dining plan. Second night was with the Deluxe Dining Plan and the reset of the stay was no dining plan.

So in theory, we needed to use our credits by midnight of the third day.

At check-in, I was told that the following morning I would need to go to the desk and basically check-out and check-in to get new keys with our dining credits on them.

So, first thing in the morning of our second day I go to the front desk. I was told at that time that because the key was coded with 'DVC MULTI' on it that I would not need new cards.

We went to Hollywood Studios that morning and used a few snack credits while there. We returned to the resort for some rest before heading to dinner . Once we got back to the resort the DW and I went to get our refillable mugs and our dining credits were no longer valid.

I went to the conceriage desk to ask what the issue was. They looked it up and said that the cards we had were deactivated around 11:30am and that we should have received new cards that morning. Anyway, they got us new cards and off we went. No problems the next day.

The next morning I went to get the new keys for the rest of the trip. There was an issue and it took them over an hour to resolve the problem and provide us with the keys for the remainder of the trip. There was some kind of problem and it was not easy for them to resolve.

Ultimately what happened is that they converted the remainder of our stay over to a cash reservation, but didn't tell me. Everything worked well for the rest of the trip. I was a bit confused because mousekeeping kept showing up to clean the room, and we weren't expecting or wanting daily mousekeeping.

It all worked out in the end, but I spent a couple of hours at the desk working it all out. We were given a small room credit for the inconvience, so that was nice.
